I tested two delicious Irish-made Easter Eggs costing €12 in Marks & Spencer – there’s a big winner for me

WITH Easter approaching, shops across the country are full of goods for the season – and very few out there are Irish made.

But I have come across two delicious Irish Easter Eggs available at Marks and Spencer for a bargain price.

They both are unlike anything else on the shelves[/caption]

The Irish-made Scottish Raspberry Truffles Dark Chocolate and Marc de Champagne Truffles Belgian Milk Chocolate Eggs are unlike any other goods out there for the season.

Available in M&S stores nationwide for only €12, these Easter eggs look far more pricey as they come with luxurious packaging that makes them a standout among other eggs on the shelves.

The first egg is produced in Ireland with Belgian dark chocolate and raspberry, making it far different from the usual egg you’d get at Easter.

But it sure caters to those looking for something out of the box this season.

The packaging reads: “Belgian dark chocolate infused with Scottish Raspberry with Dark Chocolate Raspberry Torte Truffes.”

Even the egg itself looks quite fancy, as it is covered in intricate diamond patterns that make it quite unlike any others out there.

And it just got even better when I tasted it.

When I first tried it, I could immediately taste that delicious dark Belgian chocolate, and it is quite sweet as the percentage of cocoa isn’t too high.

A few seconds after the initial bite, I got a hint of raspberry – two flavours I wouldn’t usually put together.

However, I must admit that all the different flavours really come together when covered in the shop’s signature rich dark chocolate.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it – the texture of the chocolate followed by that fruity taste is something hard to do correct in an Easter Egg.

But M&S absolutely smashed it – the flavour lingers in your mouth for a while after and leaves a great aftertaste that immediately leaves you wanting more.

I would rate the egg a solid 9 out of 10, and would highly recommend it to any other dark chocolate lovers this Easter.

SMOOTH MILK CHOCOLATE

Up next, I tried the Marc De Champagne Truffles Belgian Milk Chocolate Egg.

Again, the egg is covered in intricate diamond patterns that make it look far more expensive than that €12 price tag reveals.

Made with M&S signature smooth milk chocolate, it breaks up a lot easier than the dark chocolate egg and almost feels like it was put in the microwave for a few seconds.

And that only continues when you first taste the egg, with the delicious chocolate immediately melting in your mouth.

This flavour doesn’t linger in your mouth like the dark chocolate – it fades quite quickly and leaves you wanting more.

CLEAR WINNER FOR ME

The truffles that came with it were also delicious, combining the smoothness of the milk chocolate with the slightly fruity taste of Marc de Champagne, which is made from grape pomace.

Definitely a safer option out of the two, the overall taste is a luxurious balance of sweetness, slight bitterness and a gentle alcohol balance.

However, I must admit I prefer the dark chocolate egg, although I am quite biased as I prefer it to milk chocolate.

Nonetheless, I think it is a fantastic option for those looking for something a bit simpler while having a luxurious feel – and I would rate it a solid 8/10.
