Ever since the Elbaph arc has been hinted at in One Piece, the one character who is always linked with is Usopp, the sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates. Usopp’s fascination with the giants and his need to learn to be a brave warrior of the sea has motivated One Piece fans to believe that he might get a power-up in Elbaph that would be the biggest twist for his character.
And while the expected Usopp power-up has not yet been revealed within the story, it is going to happen sooner or later. However, getting a physical power-up this late in the narrative won’t make sense for him as he will have no time to master it or upgrade it further. Therefore, there is only one power-up that would fit perfectly for Usopp at this point in One Piece.
This power-up is the Future Sight, which was used by One Piece characters like Charlotte Katakuri and Red-Haired Shanks in the past. It aligns with Usopp’s ability to only use Observation Haki and also with the fact that he is always afraid of the future, and thus would gain an advantage over his fear making it perfect for him.
Usopp’s need to power up in Elbaph
When Usopp made a return after the time skip in One Piece, he was completely transformed and fans expected him to awaken some kind of new power that could help him get rid of the coward tag. And while he did get an upgrade, it was mostly connected to his slingshot and the variety of ammunitions he could use against his opponents.
For many One Piece fans, it was a disappointing upgrade until Dressrosa when revealed that he could also use Observation Haki, which was perfect for his sniping skills. However, since then, Usopp has not experienced any kind of power-up and has yet once again gained the tag of coward that can only be removed if he proves himself once again.
In order to do that, he would need another power-up and Elbaph is the perfect place for it, considering his connection with the mysterious place and people that live there. The only question that remains is what kind of power-up Usopp deserves this late in the story that could not only help with his character development but also prove him useful as a member of the Straw Hat Pirates.
The perfect power-up for Usopp in One Piece
Although there have been multiple speculations about Usopp getting different power-ups, the most perfect one is definitely Future Sight, the advanced version of Observation Haki in One Piece. There are a few reasons that support this power-up for Usopp and add to his character development within the story. The first one is his fear of the future.
Whenever Luffy or others recommend a new adventure, Usopp is the first one to back out because he fears the different kinds of dangers that await them.
And while Future Sight does not give a glimpse of so far in the future, it does provide a fair warning that could help him avoid danger. Aside from this, the only Haki technique Usopp can use is Observation.
As Future Sight is the advanced version of it, it could help Usopp figure out the next location of his opponents and take them down quite easily. It would require the least amount of effort and won’t have any physical upgrades that would just feel awkward at this time in the One Piece storyline.
