I can’t get over my ex-girlfriend’s comments about my penis size

DEAR DEIDRE: AN ex-girlfriend told me my penis was so small she needed a magnifying glass to find it.

Her hurtful words have stayed with me, and now I’m struggling with my confidence in bed.

I’m a 27-year-old single guy.

I was with my ex, 25, for a year. She always made me feel I wasn’t good enough for her.

Our sex life was problematic, and the more I worried I wasn’t satisfying her, the worse it got. Sometimes, I struggled to get an erection.

We argued a lot and she was often mean – putting me down and insulting my appearance, like saying I needed to work out more.

But when she mocked the size of my penis, it cut deep.

We split a few months ago. Since then, I’ve been on dating sites, then chickened out of arranging dates.

I have no problem attracting women – people say I’m good-looking and a nice guy – but I’m anxious about having another relationship.

My ex’s words keep ringing in my ears and I’m worried a new girlfriend will laugh at my penis or that I won’t be able to perform.

I feel so insecure and don’t know how to overcome this.

DEIDRE’S STORIES

Ian turns up at the restaurant

DEIDRE SAYS: Being teased about your sexual prowess can have a lasting impact on confidence.

However, being a good lover has little to do with the size of your penis – which I would wager is perfectly normal.

Your cruel ex simply picked on the thing most likely to hurt a man.

Good sex is about good communication, listening and being considerate.

And most women reach orgasm through stimulation of the clitoris – manually or orally – rather than through intercourse alone.
