After Ryan Condal revealed we’re getting a conceptual episode in House of the Dragon Season 3, it’s likely dedicated to a character that we haven’t met yet in the previous installments. When he mentioned that it would be character-driven, there’s only one figure better suited for this chapter: Daeron Targaryen.
The promise of meeting Viserys and Alicent’s son in the third installment is very exciting, because not only are we getting to know how different he is compared to Aegon and Aemond, but we might also see how similar he is to Game of Thrones’ Daenerys.
House of the Dragon’s experimental episode should tackle Daeron’s backstory

The previous installment of House of the Dragon faced criticism due to its anticlimactic season finale, but showrunner Ryan Condal plans to make up for this by giving fans the much-awaited Battle of the Gullet and an experimental episode.
He did not reveal much about this teaser except that it’s not particularly based on the source material and that it focuses on a certain character. Speaking at the Television Academy’s Saban Media Center via Gold Derby, Condal shared:
What I’m most excited about from a dramatic perspective is that we got to have a little fun this season, and there’s a conceptual episode, meaning that it isn’t in the traditional vernacular of what we’ve laid out as the structure of a House of the Dragon episode. It’s very character-driven, and I think it’s really great and I’m really excited to see it rendered.
This experimental episode should be dedicated to Daeron Targaryen, who will finally appear in the series after being MIA for the past two seasons. He was sent to Oldtown as a ward, and fans had no idea what he’s been up to, so this is the perfect opportunity to explore his backstory, subsequently revealing his part in the Dance of the Dragons.
After the criticism of the prequel series deviating too much and allowing major changes, they can only use this mysterious episode to catch up on Daeron’s storyline. It would also be a good place to show off how different he is from his cruel brothers. Since he grew up in the shadows of Aegon and Aemond, he’s more of a follower than a leader. He is known as the gentlest among the bunch, but wait until the Sack of Bitterbridge comes in.
Daeron is just like Game of Thrones’ Daenerys

Daeron and Daenerys have more similarities than you think. Like the daring prince, the Mother of Dragons also had an abusive, evil brother. We also remember Dany’s descent into madness in Game of Thrones, burning King’s Landing along with thousands of innocent civilians.
The same happened with Daeron during the Sack of Bitterbridge. His nephew, Maelor, was killed and mutilated in this place. Refusing to be merciful, he ordered his dragon Tessarion to burn the entire town. He started with the Hogs Head until the fire spread to homes and storehouses.
Hopefully, we will see this happen in the show, and perhaps people will be reminded of how he acted like Dany in this scene out of rage and revenge.
House of the Dragon is currently available to watch on Max.
