Their satire of 1980’s rockers’ outrageous stage shows have won them comparisons to legendary comedy band Spinal Tap.

Singer Michael Starr and guitarist Satchel collaborated with hard rock icons including Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, Anthrax’s Scott Ian and The Darkness’ Justin Hawkins on their acclaimed debut record.

A band spokesman said: “If it’s your first time… that’s cool, we’ll be gentle.”

Steel Panther formed in California in 2000 as Metal Shop before switching names to Metal Skool and Danger Kitty before finding fame.

They won legions of fans gigging on the famous Sunset Strip in Los Angeles at the same clubs their heroes Van Halen, Kiss and Guns N’ Roses played decades earlier.

The Glasgow stop is their only Scottish concert planned for this year, with shows also scheduled for London and Dublin and performances at European festivals, including Tons Of Rock in Olso, Norway, and Rockmaraton in Dunaujvaros, Hungary.

Starr and Satchel are joined by long-time drummer Stix Zadinia and bass player Spyder.

The rockers will stop by the O2 Academy on Monday, June 16.

Meanwhile, Texan trio Midland will also take to the stage at the same venue later this year as part of their European and UK tour.

Elsewhere, heavy metal legends Disturbed and Megadeth have announced a massive Scottish show for later this year.

And a US band behind one of the noughties’ most iconic hits will also stop by Glasgow.
