GTA 6 Might Finally Fix This Absurd Feature We’ve All Grown Accustomed To

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series has always been subject to leaks and rumors, and with GTA 6 set to arrive next year, whispers and speculations run wild.

Players waste no time in dissecting every bit of information about the highly anticipated title without any knowledge of it being real or fake. But take everything with a grain of salt just to keep your expectations in check.

A new rumor about GTA 6’s weapon wheel has come to light, and if there’s any credibility to it, then Rockstar might be taking the Red Dead Redemption approach for the title, which would finally fix an absurd feature that we’ve adapted to in GTA 5.

GTA 6 is rumored to feature a weapon wheel similar to Red Dead Redemption 2

It’s not news that GTA 6 is shaping up to be the most immersive and realistic entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, but players carrying around weapons like miniguns, assault rifles, snipers, grenade launchers, among other weaponry in their back pocket in GTA 5 was neither realistic nor immersive.

GTA 6 will most likely feature a weapon wheel just like the predecessor, but new rumors suggest that it’ll be limited. In GTA 5, you could carry an entire military arsenal in your pocket without anyone batting an eye, and spawn guns out of thin air. That’s not very realistic, is it?

According to user GameRoll on X, GTA 6 will feature a weapon wheel similar to Red Dead Redemption 2’s weapon wheel, which was limited in the sense that you could only carry around a select few weapons that you wanted, while the rest of your weaponry was stashed on your horse.

GTA 6 will have a weapon wheel akin to that, with Jason and Lucia carrying around a specific set of weapons, but instead of a horse, the rest of their weaponry will be stashed inside their car’s trunk. By doing this, Rockstar could establish a better sense of realism.

This would also add another level of immersion to the GTA series and enhance realism in gameplay, ultimately fixing GTA 5’s weird, limitless weapon wheel. Sure, pulling out a minigun out of thin air was hilarious, and we’re all used to that by now, but it’s time for that to step aside.

While it’s better to take in every information about GTA 6 with a hint of skepticism, one of the snippets featured at the end of the game’s website showcases Lucia pulling a pistol out of a car’s trunk and Jason closing it. So this rumor might just have some credibility after all.

But just to be safe, take this bit of information with a grain of salt until Rockstar confirms anything. Skepticism’s free and hurts less than blindly believing everything.

Pulling out guns from car trunks was featured in another Rockstar game

If the rumor is indeed true, then GTA 6 won’t be the first Rockstar title where players could pull out guns from the trunks of cars. This mechanic was previously featured in the developer’s venture into the neo-noir crime genre in 2011 with L.A. Noire.

L.A. Noire didn’t feature a weapon wheel like the GTA games, and it was a far cry from Rockstar’s most popular series in every aspect. But players could pull out additional weapons, other than the default pistol, from the trunks of police cars.

So it wouldn’t be Rockstar’s first rodeo with having a similar mechanic in GTA 6, but only time will tell how the game ultimately plays. Speaking of L.A. Noire, since Rockstar is rumored to be developing a GTA 4 remake, they should add Cole Phelps’ investigations to the list.

So, what do you think about GTA 6 having a limited weapon wheel like Red Dead Redemption 2? Do you prefer that, or would you like a weapon wheel similar to GTA 5? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below.
