THE Irish Film and Television Academy has announced popular comedian Kevin McGahern as the ceremony’s host.
The 2025 IFTA Awards will take place on Friday, 14 February, at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre.

One of the award show’s youngest ever nominees is up for two awards[/caption]
Kevin will take centre stage and host the 22nd annual IFTA Awards, bringing his funny wit and charm to the ceremony.
Making the announcement on Instagram, Kevin said: “It’s a huge honour to be asked to host the IFTAs this year.
“It’s been another amazing year for Irish Film and Drama, both here and around the globe and I look forward to celebrating those achievements on the night and to having some fun too – what incredible talent and skill that this small island is capable of.”
Friends and fans raced to the comedians comment section to gush over his major move.

As a talented actor, writer and popular comedian, Kevin will be at home amongst this creative community of actors, filmmakers and craftspeople
The IFTA Awards Ceremony will welcome Irish and international guests from all around the world for a great home gathering of industry peers, to recognise achievements both in front and behind the camera.
The ceremony will also celebrate iconic Irish actor Colm Meaney, as he receives his IFTA Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ceremony.
The cream of the Irish film community will be in attendance to celebrate the enormous success of our home talents.
Nominees in the running for Irish Academy Awards this year include Saoirse Ronan, Cillian Murphy, Nicola Coughlan, Sharon Horgan, and Irihsh rap group Kneecap.
Also receiving major recognition this year is one of the youngest rising star nominees in the award show’s history.
Dublin actress, Alisha Weir, 15, has been nominated for the Screen Ireland IFTA Rising Star Award.
RISING STAR
Reacting to her nomination, Alisha gushed: “I am absolutely thrilled and so thankful to be shortlisted.
“I am grateful for the opportunities I have had so far and I can’t wait to continue learning, growing and contributing to the amazing film industry and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.
“Thank you so much Screen Ireland and IFTA for this recognition.”
Alisha is nominated alongside Anthony Boyle, Aislinn Clarke and Clinton Liberty for Rising Star.
She also manged to pick up a nomination alongside Saoirse Ronan and Jessie Buckley in Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role.
Saoirse is nominated for her role in The Outrun, a film she also produced. While Jessie Buckley is up for her comedy Wicked Little Letters.
Rounding out that category are Hazel Douple for Kathleen is here, Carolyn Bracken in Oddity and Eileen Walsh in Small Thing Like These.
Across the night there will also be a series of presenters and international guests, which will be announced in February for the award show.
