After all, the Ultimate Superhero teased about getting his hands around Cena’s throat and would punch him hard enough to make him a babyface again. However, he was not the only one because it was teased that Bron Breakker would be a worthy opponent as well. The anticipation eventually cooled off until the star recently talked about the venue of his retirement match.

He also said that he knew the date of his last match, and it has not been made public. He said,

It’s been really tough. I am a bi**h to deal with, period. Anyway, but you know, I know the date, no one else knows the date public wise and so at my age you obviously have to do a lot of different things to get yourself prepared for what I’m about to embark upon and I mean it’s uncharted water because not many people my age have done this, right?

Though the dates are not disclosed, it can be assumed that it will be by the end of this year. Hence, leaving fans asking, “Who is courageous enough to face the veteran wrestler in his last match and put on a show that makes the fans cheer with excitement?” Surprisingly, one name comes in unison: Gunther, especially because of a very personal reason that follows the former World Heavyweight Champion.

Gunther vs. Goldberg: A once-in-a-lifetime match?

Despite being vocal about being unaware of his opponent at his retirement match, it has been teased strongly for quite some time that The Ring General, Gunther, can be a worthy final opponent, giving the veteran wrestler a run for his money and giving him an opportunity to eat back his words after what he said in 2024 at the Bad Blood PLE.

Ahead of WWE’s special PPV Crown Jewel, Paul “Triple H” Levesque was present inside the ring, where he announced that Champion vs. Champion matches will take place at the event, and the winners of the two matches will win the Crown Jewel Championship. The then-World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther, entered the ring, singing his praises and accomplishments.

He then asked the spotlight to be in attendance, where Goldberg was sitting with his family, and told the guest how he lied to Bret Hart about Goldberg being his favorite wrestler. However, he didn’t stop there because he further humiliated him, calling him a “one-trick pony.” As if that’s not enough, he went personal and told the legend’s son, Gage, that he hoped that the Hall of Famer was better than a wrestler.

This snapped him; the two-time Universal Champion jumped the barricade but was stopped by security before they could lay their hands on each other. Since then, it has been heavily teased that Gunther can be Goldberg’s “You’re last, bringing the entire arc to a complete circle.
