Gabriel Luna wants to be the CM Punk upon his return to the MCU
Over the years, Gabriel Luna has been part of several franchises that have put him on the A-list tier of Hollywood stars, who can showcase their acting chops in diverse genres. However, his most prolific role was in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portraying the role of Robbie Reyes, the incarnation of Ghost Rider in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The actor had a great time playing the anti-hero role, and it was evident in the way he killed it, all while adding minute details to his character. To the heartbreak of the fans, the TV series came to an end in 2017, but Luna has always been vocal about his return to the superhero franchise.
Recently, the FUBAR actor was present at the John Wick spinoff film, Ballerina, where he was asked by Brandon Davis if people still ask him about Ghost Rider via X. The actor answered, “All the time.” He further said that despite being in the minds of the fans with the role of Tommy from The Last of Us, that spotlight is often taken back by “Ghost Rider,” where Marvel fanatics often call him Robbie Reyes, making him happy.
Listening to the answer, Davis mentioned how he comes from the “world of wrestling,” and when a name gets struck off from the main roster and a few years go by and they make their return, “they are bigger than ever.” Hearing this, Luna said, “I’ll be the CM Punk of the MCU.”
The Best in the World’s WWE exit was as messy as it could get. His fiery promos from the years of disrespect from Vince McMahon supplied him enough ammunition to take down the place. The open criticism of the executives, blatant disrespect and creative differences, and lack of opportunities eventually made him walk out.
However, after 9 long years, The Second City Saint returned to the company at Survivor Series in November 2023, where he ended his previous differences with Paul “Triple H” Levesque and was ready to make a fresh start. The return was marked with one of the loudest pops in recent times, where the Allstate Arena shouted “CM Punk” as a mark of approval for the beloved personality’s much-awaited return.
MCU and WWE fans unite with Luna’s Punk reference
Indeed, when we look at the most dramatic career path, the journey of CM Punk appears to be the most shocking, where he has been the biggest rebel in the company, and his anti-hero persona has rubbed people the wrong way. Nevertheless, with the tease from the Terminator actor, fans of both worlds hope that they get to see their favorite personalities killing it when they get their much-deserved opportunity to prove their talent on a much larger scale.
