While many felt Oppenheimer was filled with A-listers from right to left, Christopher Nolan is taking it a notch up with The Odyssey, which comprises some of the most notable stars of this generation. As of now, the cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, Elliot Page, Jon Bernthal, and Mia Goth.

Moreover, given that the filming for the Greek epic had already commenced in February, the first look at Holland has finally surfaced, and it’s not hard to draw his correlation with Lord of the Rings.
The resemblance between Tom Holland and the Hobbit is uncanny

With The Odyssey, Nolan is set to delve into some uncharted territory, which is nothing out of the ordinary for the filmmaker. As for what fans can expect from the Oscar winner’s Greek epic, a far cry from the rest of his filmography, some predicted Christopher Nolan might take the Peter Jackson approach with The Odyssey, given his knack for practicality.
And from the set image, it certainly seems to be the case, and interestingly, Tom Holland, whose role is yet to be unveiled, does resemble a Hobbit from the LOTR franchise.
I’m really excited for this. Tom does look like a Hobbit for some reason tho. I think it’s because of the costume 😅 pic.twitter.com/RSgUQDo35X

Although time will tell whether LOTR will serve as an influence for Nolan’s Greek epic or not, it’s possible that Holland might be portraying Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, in the film. But given the sheer size of the star-studded cast, one can’t bet too much on his potential screentime in the film.
Tom Holland compared his excitement for The Odyssey to Spider-Man

Even though Holland has shaped himself as one of the leading young figures in Hollywood, it’s important to note that much of his success is confined within the boundaries of the MCU. Considering the actor’s ventures outside the MCU, which include Uncharted and The Crowded Room, have mostly been divisive, with his collaboration with Nolan, the No Way Home star has the opportunity to turn this sentiment around for the better.
Speaking of Nolan, Holland described the call from the revered filmmaker as an opportunity of a lifetime, as he drew parallels with his Spider-Man casting in terms of excitement (via Good Morning America).
All I can say is that I’m incredibly excited… When the opportunity came in, it was the phone call of a lifetime. It was reminiscent of getting the call about Spider-Man 10 years ago. It’s an amazing thing for me. I’m super proud and I’m really, really excited.
Besides The Odyssey, the Marvel star’s 2026 slate includes Spider-Man 4 and Doomsday, which is pretty impressive, to say the least.
The Odyssey is set to hit theatres on 17 July 2026.
