TRANSPORT yourself to the Mediterranean this summer.
Home Bargains are selling real olive trees for less than £20.

The smaller olive trees are £19.99[/caption]
Posting on its official Facebook page, the bargain retailer shared a photo of the olive trees.
The caption read: “Add a touch of the Mediterranean to your home with our gorgeous olive trees! £19.99.”
The trees were just under a metre tall, but well established.
Over on the shops TikTok account, they shared a video of more mature olive trees on sale.
They were around two metres tall, with thicker trunks, suggesting they are far older than the £19.99 ones, hence the £79.99 price tag.
These mature olive trees are “only available in Garden World stores”, so if gardeners want them, they need to head to their nearest store.
But are they worth the price?
One shopper commented: “Got one two years ago and it’s doing amazing.”
A second chimed: Mine is thriving, been out all winter and had olives last year.”
A few people were concerned whether or not the olive trees would survive a British winter. One customer said: “Yes, mine has from last year,” and another replied: “We live in Derbyshire and have had one about seven years.”
Someone else wrote: “A couple of these will look really classy in your garden.”
Another suggested they would look great either side of a front door.
Do olive trees grow well in the UK?
Yes, olive trees can grow well in the UK, but they need some care.
Sunlight and shelter
- Olive trees do best in a sunny, sheltered location.
- They can tolerate intense sunlight and drought.
- However, they can struggle in extreme cold and high winds.
Watering
- Water potted olive trees regularly from mid-March to late October.
- Water until water comes out of the bottom of the pot.
- In hot, dry weather, you may need to water more.
- Reduce watering for younger trees, and stop watering established trees in the winter.
Drainage
- Ensure your tree has adequate drainage.
Pruning
- Prune the tree back each year to encourage good leaf growth.
Winter care
- Wrap your tree over winter to keep the harsh wind out.
- Give your tree some extra protection if there are intense cold snaps forecast.
