Game of Thrones’ Worst Incest Plot Can Easily Give Cersei and Jamie Lannister a Run for Their Money

Game of Thrones pushed plenty of boundaries, but one incest plot might outdo even Cersei and Jaime. While the Lannister twins sparked outrage, another twisted pairing quietly slipped under the radar and it’s arguably worse. Dark secrets, disturbing implications, and a family dynamic that makes the Lannisters look tame — this storyline had it all.

So, which GoT romance crossed the ultimate line? And why didn’t it cause the same uproar?

Littlefinger and Sansa’s twisted relationship might be Game of Thrones’ most disturbing plot yet

When it comes to Game of Thrones, incest is practically a family tradition. But while Cersei and Jaime Lannister’s romance stole the headlines, fans argue that Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish and Sansa Stark’s twisted dynamic is somehow even worse.

One redditor perfectly pointed out saying,

Littlefinger’s unrequited love for Catlyn is well-documented. He’s a very interesting character. And his relationship with Catlyn’s eldest daughter is likewise.

In A Song of Ice and Fire, Littlefinger sees Sansa as both a daughter figure and a younger version of Catelyn Stark, his lifelong obsession. This disturbing duality fuels his actions, from keeping her close under a false identity to orchestrating her future like a game of chess. George R.R. Martin said in an interview for the book (per Business Insider),

My Littlefinger would have never turned Sansa over to Ramsay…Never. He’s obsessed with her. Half the time he thinks she’s the daughter he never had — that he wishes he had, if he’d married Catelyn. And half the time he thinks she is Catelyn, and he wants her for himself.

He’s not going to give her to somebody who would do bad things to her. That’s going to be very different in the books.

Fans have debated how far Littlefinger’s fixation goes, with some calling it insane and disgusting. Even in the books, where Sansa avoids Ramsay Bolton’s torment, Littlefinger still manipulates her at every turn. He crushed her engagement to Willas Tyrell, married Jeyne Poole off to Ramsay in her place, and made sure Sansa was entirely dependent on him.

The show only made things worse. HBO’s adaptation swapped Jeyne for Sansa, forcing her into one of the series’ darkest storylines. The decision sparked backlash, with Martin in agreement.

At the end of the day, whether it’s emotional manipulation or outright obsession, fans agree — Littlefinger and Sansa’s relationship might just outdo the Lannisters in terms of sheer creep factor.

Fans react: Littlefinger and Sansa’s twisted dynamic is worse than Jaime and Cersei’s

Game of Thrones had its fair share of messed-up relationships, but Littlefinger and Sansa? That’s a whole new level of disturbing. This twisted dynamic could easily give Jaime and Cersei a run for their money.

Littlefinger plays the father figure until he doesn’t. At times, he treats Sansa like a daughter. Other times? A potential lover. That mix alone is unsettling. But it gets worse: he manipulates her into horrific situations, all while positioning himself as her protector.

In the books, he even sabotages her engagement to Willas Tyrell, ensuring she stays within his reach. The worst part? He had no issue with her forced marriage, abuse, or even the risk of pregnancy at 13 — so long as she remained useful to him.

Some argue Sansa benefits from his lessons, but let’s be real: any “knowledge” from him comes at a chilling price.
