Everything we know so far about Gachiakuta’s storyline

According to the manga created by mangaka Kei Urana and graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou, the story of Gachiakuta follows the tale of a young boy named Rudo, who lives as a foster child in the “surface” society, where cleanliness is valued above everything. Here, anyone tagged dirty is labeled as trash by society. Rudo’s stepfather is shown as a trash collector, which makes his life difficult, causing everyone to treat him like an outcast despite his kind-hearted nature.
Rudo’s life goes a complete 180 when he gets accused of a murder he has not committed. This results in him getting banished to the Abyss, a place filled with all kinds of trash, including all the people who have been discarded from surface society.
Going through his days in the Abyss, Rudo finds and befriends powerful warriors called the Janitors who fight with specially crafted weapons against monsters called “Gadou.” Amongst this, Rudo discovers he possesses a rare power that may be tied to his mysterious past. With his goal to find the reality of the surface people, Rudo is determined to prove his innocence and uncover the secrets of his past, in his journey filled with growth and revenge.
