According to police reports, the incident occurred after Mr. Rotifa confiscated an Android phone from an SS3 student who was allegedly using it to cheat during the exam. The action led to a serious confrontation after the student reported the matter to his parents.
A source close to the school revealed that the situation escalated quickly when the hired assailants stormed the campus. The school immediately contacted law enforcement officers for assistance, but the attackers reportedly overwhelmed the responding police officers, dragged Mr. Rotifa from their vehicle, and brutally assaulted him in full view of staff and five students.
The source said, “When the hired thugs arrived at the school to attack the VP, the school invited the police. But the thugs were too many, and they overpowered the officers, pulled the vice principal out of their vehicle, and beat him severely.”

The root of the incident lies in an exam malpractice case. Mr. Rotifa reportedly caught the SS3 student attempting to use a mobile phone to access exam materials during the WASSCE. Upon discovery, the phone was confiscated, and the student was asked to leave the examination hall.
