Family ‘concerned for wellbeing’ of man, 56, missing from Kerry home – as gardai issue appeal

GARDAI are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a missing man – as his family are “concerned for his wellbeing”.

Michael Gaine, 56, was reported missing from his home near Kenmare, Co. Kerry yesterday.

Michael, who also goes by Mike, was last seen in Kenmare town around 11am on Thursday morning.

He is described as being 5’10 with a stocky build, brown/grey hair and a bushy beard.

When last seen, the Kerry man was wearing an orange woolly hat, black fleece, blue jeans and black boots.

His family and cops are concerned for his well-being and appealing to the public for any information.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardi are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 56-year-old Michael Gaine who was reported missing from his home near Kenmare, Co. Kerry on Friday 21st March 2025.

“Michael, who also goes by Mike, was last seen in Kenmare town at approximately 11:00am on Thursday 20th March.

“Michael is described as being approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build, brown/grey hair and a bushy beard.

“When last seen, Michael was wearing an orange woolly hat, black fleece, blue jeans and black boots.

Gardai and Michael’s family are concerned for his well-being.

“Anyone with information on Michael’s whereabouts is asked to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 667 1160, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”


Separately, gardai have issued an appeal for another missing man Mohammad Metali.

Mohammad, 28, went missing from his home in Rochforbridge, Co Westmeath on Saturday, March 15.

He was last seen in Mullingar on Thursday afternoon, March 13.

Mohammad is described as being around 5ft 9inches tall, with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes.

When he was last seen he was wearing a black jacket, a red jumper and white runners.

It is believed that he has access to a brown Range Rover Estate with a 152-D license plate.

Gardaí and Mohammad’s family are concerned for his well-being.

Anyone with information relating to Mohammad’s whereabouts is asked to contact Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

The reference number for the case is PR24139/2025.
