THE Fabulous team is helping readers transform troublesome spaces in their homes on a budget in a new video series called: Weekend Shopper.
Our first episode launches today on YouTube, and we have enlisted the expertise of our Fabulous Lifestyle Editor, Catherine Bennion-Pedley, and Fashion Director, Tracey Sayer, to revamp communication manager Katie Gascoyne-Edwards shared home office space.

Armed with a budget of £300, our stylish duo headed to high-street favourite Dunelm to find some striking and affordable pieces for our 32-year-old Katie’s industrial boho-style pad in Croydon.
Here are the Fabulous finds they used in the transformation…
The Dunelm haul
Eliza ivory borg wooden arm cocktail chair, £149
Fab team’s verdict: You don’t have to go for an obvious office chair when styling an at-home workspace, especially if your desk is in a living room or multifunctional space.
We loved the sumptuous look and feel of the Eliza chair, and it works perfectly as a softer contrast with the more industrial elements of our reader’s home.
Keates shelves floor lamp, £60
Fab team’s verdict: Our reader has a small space so clever storage solutions were a must for the transformed space.
We were on the hunt for a tall and slimline shelving unit and found this gorgeous shelving unit and lamp in one for just £55. It’s great for storing items in baskets on the shelves and decorative plants.
Lilou integrated desk lamp, £22
Fab team’s verdict: This modern desk lamp not only looks great but is also very practical as it has a three-stage dimmer touch button, so you can easily adjust the brightness.
The adjustable head and angled stem also make it easy for our reader to position and move around as she is working.
Sophie Robinson More Joy Embroidered Cushion, £30
Fab team’s verdict: Don’t be afraid to add bold elements such as vibrant prints or eye-catching coloured decor to your space to create some interest.
This fun cushion which is part of designer Sophie Robinson’s Dunelm range is the perfect unexpected element for our reader’s office space that works well with the new chair and overall colourful aesthetic we have gone for.
Coastal stripe toothbrush holder – £6
Fab team’s verdict: Don’t always head for the obvious sections when browsing for decorative items in-store or online.
We found this playful striped toothbrush holder in the bathroom accessories section, but it will make a stylish pen holder on our reader’s redesigned desk space.
Embossed striped dip bowl gold – £2.75
Fab team’s verdict: Inexpensive decorative items like this embossed gold bowl add interest and finesse to a space, so don’t skip on styling pieces.
Our Lifestyle Editor, Catherine, also has a great tip for grouping trinkets and smaller decor without making the space cluttered by grouping them in three.
Sophie Robinson two-tone photo frame A2 – £22
Fab team’s verdict: If you are colour-shy you can add subtle pops of colour to a space with simple additions like this Sophie Robinson designed two-tone picture frame.
It’s a simple way to fill a blank wall or overhaul an existing picture wall or personal photos without doing anything drastic.
Sophie Robinson A5 weekday planner – £5
Fab team’s verdict: Inject some fun into boring stationery items like a journal or planner by finding one that has some colour or interest.
We love this weekly planner by interior designer Sophie Robinson which adds some colour and playfulness to our reader’s home office space. We also loved the Sophie Robinson A4 ric rac folder (£7) which we also included in our transformation.
Cote A’zur framed print small – £30
Fab team’s verdict: Prints are a great way to fill a plain wall and can instantly change the mood and feel of a space.
Look for prints that work with your colour scheme for a harmonious feel, we love this Cote D’Azur one which picks up the turquoise hues from some of the other items we chose for the space.
