Ex-Rangers ace launches new career after eight months unemployed as he recruits former boss and team mates to promote it

A FORMER Rangers star has launched his own business – and he isn’t straying far from the football field.

After spending eight months unemployed following his departure from Gers last year he has since found a new club but has also started a new career on the side.

Kemar Roofe left Ibrox in June having spent four years with the Glasgow side, playing 102 times and scoring 38 goals.

He has now signed for Derby County but one of his main takeaways from this late stage of his career seems to be how he reflects on his performances and with that in mind he has started a new business selling football journals.

Two Halves Player Journals allow aspiring footballers or current professionals – even fans – to log their progress on the training pitch and in matches on a regular basis.

On the business’ Instagram page, its tagline reads: “Create your own dreams by tracking your improvements.”

Roofe, 32, has listed the product on Amazon and recruited some of his former team mates and an old boss to help promote the product.

The journals contain different sections so players can track their stats, set targets for the season ahead and do self-assessments after training sessions and games.

It features sections for physical and mental preparation, difficulty ratings for individual training sessions and matches, and space for notes on what the player did well and can improve on.

Former Rangers manager Michael Beale has acquired a journal and used it with his son.

A post from Two Halves on Instagram said: “Top coach, top person! Michael Beale giving his approval for the Two Halves Player Journal – a great tool for young footballers, including his own son, to develop their game on and off the pitch!”

Steven Davis and Todd Cantwell, two team mates of Roofe at Gers, have also grabbed a copy.

An endorsement post featuring Cantwell said: “Todd Cantwell making sure he doesn’t miss out on the small gains.”

Another post shows modern day Rangers hero Davis giving his son a journal.

The journals are priced at £17.99 on Amazon and come in a hardback format.

The description on Amazon says: “Attention: Unlock your full potential on and off the pitch with the ultimate Soccer/Football Journal – your personal companion for growth, strategy, and success in the game you love.
