We might be die-hard WWE fans, but let’s be real, WWE isn’t about actual fighting. It’s a massive team effort where several individuals work together to make it the electrifying show we love. Wrestlers put in crazy hours of training to make their fights look good and believable. Whether you end up as a top star or just another name on the roster depends a lot on how convincingly you can sell a fight.
Even the best of the best mess up sometimes, and that’s exactly what happened during last year’s Money in the Bank World Heavyweight Championship match between Damian Priest and Seth Rollins. After the fight, Triple H did his best to cover up the botch, but failed miserably.
Triple H tried and failed to defend this famous botch from Damian Priest and Seth Rollins

During the match, Seth Rollins hit Priest with a Falcon Arrow, which left him flat on the mat. Rollins went for the pin, and that’s when things got interesting. The entire arena saw Priest stay completely still as the ref counted, but somehow, the referee ruled that Damian Priest had moved and was still in the match.
Priest went on to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Rollins, but the media and fans weren’t having it. The botch that led to his win had everyone talking. Triple H tried to control the situation in the post-match press conference.
Human beings in a ring, mistakes happen, things happen. It is what it is, It’s funny, for me, now looking at that, if that was something I was involved in as a talent, I don’t care how good the rest of it was, that would be all I would think about. To me, it’s a shame that that’s all people will talk about, and that’s all people will hit Damian Priest with.
The Game went on to emphasize that these types of mistakes can happen in the high-paced matches in WWE. According to Triple H, Priest must not let these mistakes get to his head and focus only on the bigger picture.
Despite Triple H’s best efforts, Damian Priest was not spared; he continued to get criticized, as many believed he deprived Seth Rollins of a deserved championship title.
Triple H reveals why he wanted no one to talk to Damian Priest after the botch

In the same press conference, The Game also claimed that he should have removed Priest’s phone, not letting him talk to anybody, to avoid any negative impact of the incident on him. Triple H opened up on the situation in the press conference.
I wish I could just go in the back, shut off his phone, have no-one talk to him for a while, and just have him think about all the other great stuff that happened , and the roll that he’s been on, and how great of a job he has done as World Champion.
At the end of the day, Damian Priest is a seriously talented wrestler and one of WWE’s biggest assets. Triple H has always had a lot of faith in him, giving him the well-earned push he needed to thrive in the promotion.
If Priest can stay focused, keep his head in the game, and continue putting in the hard work, he’s got everything it takes to become one of WWE’s biggest superstars.
But to make that happen, he needs to block out the negativity and stay locked in on his goals. But with time, he has matured, and it looks like he has made his peace with the fans.
