AN EMMERDALE star has made a shock return – months after mysteriously disappearing.
Viewers were confused when cleaner Lydia Dingle failed to make her own birthday party earlier this year after suddenly leaving the village without notice.

She was last seen on screen in March but even that was a one-off from her unannounced exit in February.
But in today’s episode actress Karen Blick made her long-awaited and surprise return as Lydia.
And she’s explained why she was gone.
Walking into the cafe she ran into Joe Tate who made a crack about dusting to which Lydia swiftly shut him down.
And then reuniting with her friend Kim Tate, the pair slid into old habits.
Kim revealed to viewers that Lydia had been away caring for her mother who had fallen ill apparently.
Lydia told her: “Well, she’s back to bossing me about and giving me the running commentary on every last twinge.”
And she revealed that she wouldn’t be back permanently – but leaving again on and off for her caring duties.
“I’ll be to-ing and fro-ing a bit, but she’s definitely on the mend,” she added.
And Lydia wasted no time in working out that Kim was hiding a new man – and demanded the gossip immediately.
With Lydia back, Kim’s new man will take centre stage as the mystery of who he is deepens.
But will Lydia be the one to work out who exactly is wooing multi-millionaire schemer Kim?
