Elon Musk’s Fight With Donald Trump Is Fake: Whoopi Goldberg Explains Why You Shouldn’t Believe the Twitter Feud

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are two of the most headline-dominating figures who have spent years in the spotlight. They went from mutual admiration and friendship to having a public feud with explosive social media spats, so their relationship has been anything but predictable.

But as the world tuned in to watch their latest fiery exchange, Whoopi Goldberg dropped a bombshell. She is a controversial figure in pop culture, and her takes are wildly amusing, so expect no less with this one either. Now, let’s dive into the history of Musk and Trump, their fallout, and what Goldberg thinks.

Back in 2016, Elon Musk wasn’t a fan of Donald Trump and made public statements about how he had a character that could reflect poorly on the country (via Independent). But just a month after the election and Trump’s win, the Tesla CEO joined the President’s economic advisory council. However, Musk resigned in 2017 after Trump withdrew from the Paris Climate Agreement.

Fast forward to 2022, and the tide had turned because Trump was praising Musk’s genius, even comparing him to Thomas Edison. By 2024, their partnership grew stronger, as the latter endorsed the current POTUS after the assassination attempt and even donned a Dark MAGA hat at rallies.

Musk’s influence peaked when Trump appointed him to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a move that made many skeptical, as the billionaire promised he would slash around $2 trillion in government spending. But Musk claimed only $175 billion in savings, as reports of tensions within the administration emerged, including a heated Oval Office clash with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

By May 2025, Elon Musk was out of the picture, but not before criticizing Donald Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. Even the latter fired back and accused the former of ingratitude as their feud escalated into a full-blown social media war. So the world watched as these two exchanged blows, but Whoopi Goldberg isn’t buying any of it and believes it is a distraction (via RadarOnline).

Some believe that Goldberg’s theory isn’t entirely far-fetched because Trump and Musk have mastered the art of controlling narratives through controversy. Their feud had Epstein accusations, subsidy threats, and claims of election influence, all of which completely dominated the headlines and overshadowed any other political discourse. In one segment of The View, Goldberg said:

I love that y’all bought into it… This is another distraction to keep us not talking about the stuff we’re talking about, but the stuff that they want us to do. I don’t buy it.

While some agree with her, others believe that Musk’s tweet of Trump being on the Epstein list might be genuine proof of their animosity. Now, whether this is a calculated distraction or a genuine clash of titans, one thing is clear: when these two collide, the world can’t look away. So, is it real? Or are we just playing into their game? Only time and maybe another viral tweet will tell.
