But if you’re overlooking these sneaky areas, you might not be getting the deep clean you think you are.

Rebecca Baddeley, Head of Design at JD Williams, has revealed the forgotten spots that could be making you sick, and how to tackle them.

LIGHT SWITCHES

Light switches are touched multiple times a day but rarely wiped down.

Baddeley warns that these are some of the biggest hotspots for germs.

A simple swipe with a disinfecting wipe can keep bacteria from spreading throughout your home.

UNDER YOUR FURNITURE

Another place that collects more dust than you’d think is under your furniture.

Because it’s not always visible, it’s easy to ignore, but debris builds up fast.

Moving chairs, couches, and tables to vacuum or sweep underneath will keep allergens from piling up. If reaching these spaces is a challenge, a long-handled duster or broom will help get the job done.

BEHIND THE TOILET

One of the most neglected areas in the home is behind the toilet.

The tight space often becomes a breeding ground for bacteria and grime, making it crucial to give it a proper clean.

Instead of avoiding it, use a long-handled mop to scrub this hidden area at least once a week.

CHECK UNDER YOUR KITCHEN SINK

Another dirty culprit? Your kitchen sink drain. It may be collecting food particles, bacteria, and foul odors without you even realizing it.

Baddeley suggests a simple trick to freshen it up, mix baking soda and vinegar to break down grime, then pour boiling water down the drain to flush everything away.

This will leave your sink smelling fresh and working efficiently.

CLEAN THE BIN

Even though you take out the trash regularly, you might be forgetting to clean the bin itself.

This often-overlooked task can result in bacteria buildup and foul smells lingering in your home.

Scrubbing it with hot, soapy water and disinfectant will prevent germs from sticking around.

BLINDS

If you’ve noticed your allergies acting up, it could be because of dusty blinds.

They accumulate dust quickly, making them one of the reasons behind sneezing and itchy eyes. Wiping them down with a microfiber cloth or using a vacuum with a brush attachment will help keep allergens in check.

DIRT UNDER FRIDGE

Another hidden dust trap is the space beneath your fridge.

Crumbs, dust, and spills often gather here, attracting pests if left unchecked.

Baddeley recommends pulling the fridge out every so often and giving the area a good sweep or vacuum to maintain a clean space.

Baseboards, door handles, and even remote controls are other frequently touched surfaces that often get neglected.

A quick wipe-down with disinfectant can make a huge difference in keeping germs at bay and ensuring a healthier home environment.
