Now, fans believe they’ve discovered there might be something else happening to add to the excitement.

The BBC have uploaded a video of the soap’s theme tune over the years to YouTube and it’s sent fans into a frenzy.

The video has been captioned: “Let’s watch back all of the classic theme tunes and credits from EastEnders over the years!”

Fans have gone wild in response believing it means a new version of the iconic tune is coming for the 40th anniversary.

“A new version for the 40th looms” declared one viewer.

Another stated: “I hope there will be a new version! Something with violins again.”

A third declared: “Guess we’re getting a new opening on the 40th anniversary?.”

“New one soon?!?!?!?!” questioned another.

While another fan said: “New theme and titles coming up for the big 4 0?????.”

Meanwhile, EastEnders have confirmed that fans will be able to make two interactive decisions during the show’s episode for the 40th anniversary on the 19th February.

Viewers will be able to vote for either Ravi or Jack to decide who Denise Fox ends up with but it won’t be the only decision that viewers get to make.

Whilst details are remaining under wraps, it has been confirmed that the outcome of the decision will have a huge effect on Walford.

The live episode will then kick off at 7:30pm on the 20th February.

Also showing will be an exclusive documentary entitled EastEnders: 40 Years on the Square, fronted by Ross Kemp.

EastEnders’ 40th anniversary cameos so far

Micheal French – French returned as David Wicks, a character he last played two decades ago.

Coming up this year…

Other aspects of the 40th anniversary celebration include: A wedding between fan favorites, A huge explosion at the Queen Vic, and A live interactive episode.

It will take fans on a lookback at the show’s biggest moments and most impactful plots over the past four decades.

But that’s not all! Because, EastEnders is set to reveal the identity of Cindy’s Christmas Day attacker during the show’s 40th anniversary week.
