Dragon Ball DAIMA successfully ended its run in February 2025, leaving fans hungry for more. Even though there was a mix of anticipation and nervousness about its performance before its debut, the series ended up becoming pretty popular. This was Akira Toriyama’s last project, and his dedication to it shone through.
The series has achieved quite a few feats, from reinvigorating a sense of adventure in the series to making Super Saiyan 4 canon. And who doesn’t like a bunch of ultra-powerful chibi heroes running around? With a major award show win, the series has received more impetus for a second season.
Dragon Ball DAIMA‘s win at the Astra Awards might be a sign to create its second season

The 5th Astra Awards took place on June 10, 2025, and Dragon Ball DAIMA took home the Best Anime Series award. The other nominees for the award were Dandadan, Solo Leveling, Lazarus, Fire Force, and The Apothecary Diaries. Although there was some major contemplation about other series deserving the award, DAIMA had a respectful win.
Although a second season for the anime has not been confirmed, the latest award proves that the series has potential. The final episode also didn’t hint at any continuation, and there is a high chance that it will be a standalone series. But at the same time, who is to stop Goku and co. from visiting the Demon Realm for another rendezvous?
After seeing DAIMA‘s reach and success, maybe Toei Animation would be convinced to give the series a sequel. The Dragon Ball DAIMA characters could appear in a movie or maybe as a cameo in another installment. But the demand for a second season is at an all-time high. If a sequel does premiere, fans are ready to support it no matter what.
Does Dragon Ball DAIMA even need a sequel?

The current status of the Dragon Ball Super manga is shaky at best. After the demise of the legendary author, Akira Toriyama, the manga was on a year-long hiatus. Its latest chapter was released in February of 2025, but once again, there have been no more updates since then. Thus, Dragon Ball DAIMA season 2 will be a great source of new content for fans.
The anime had some legendary moments. Vegeta unlocked Super Saiyan 3, Super Saiyan 4 was added to the canon universe, and it was revealed just how much Vegeta loves Bulma. The Demon Realm is a perfectly constructed place for another adventure and has its own lore, which can be expanded on more.
But at the same time, there might be no more material left to create a second season. And without help from the creator, a sequel could turn out worse, which would ultimately crush the hopes of fans. Rather than destroying a near-perfect series with an unnecessary sequel, it would be best to leave it alone for fans to dearly remember and rewatch it.
Dragon Ball DAIMA anime is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
