DISNEYLAND Resort has revealed more details about two upcoming attractions based around Avatar and Pixar’s Coco.
However, the opening of the new areas in California will result in the closure of a beloved ride.

It’s no secret that Disney is opening an Avatar destination and a Coco-themed ride in California – but now they’ve revealed where they will be in the park.
The Avatar destination will transform part of the Hollywood Backlot area in Disney California Adventure.
But there’s sad news for some because in order to make room, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will close in early 2026.
For anyone who’s a fan of Monsters Inc., there is a new land opening up at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.
It will have with the first-ever suspended coaster in a Disney Park.
As for Avatar, there are official announcements about what will be in the land.
But the concept images show a boat ride that looks similar to the Shanghai Disneyland version of Pirates of the Caribbean.
It won’t be the first Avatar-themed attraction in Disney as Pandora: The World of Avatar land opened at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom in 2017.
But Disney has said that it won’t be exactly the same but instead will draw on “inspiration” from the other park.
As for the Coco-themed land, this will be built near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier.

This will mark Coco’s is very first Disney Parks attraction at Disneyland’s Disney California Adventure, and it will draw inspiration from Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean.
The attraction will be filled with characters and music will be a big part of the land too.
Luckily, this area is mostly not used so nothing will have to close to make room.
Construction for Coco is set to begin in Autumn.

Renders also reveal a new parking lot and bridge[/caption]
There will also be a new parking structure in the resort with 6,000 parking spaces as well as shuttle and rideshare areas.
There will also be a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard.
Across the US in Florida’s Walt Disney World Resort is yet another new land, and it’s all dedicated to Cars.
Called Piston Peak, the new land will allow fans to enter the fictional world of Cars with a National Park twist.
Inside will be a new racing ride where visitors will drive through the mountains on wild terrain, avoiding geysers and mud holes.
Disneyland Paris is going through a transformation too and is adding a whole new area called Disney Adventure World, which will eventually replace Walt Disney Studios Park.
One of the very first areas to open will be the World of Frozen, and the Kingdom of Arendelle will open in 2026.
Disney Adventure World will also feature a new “Lion King” themed area and log flume ride.
One Sun Travel Reporter visited Disney’s first music festival in Paris.
