David Corenswet Just Used an Andre the Giant Reference to Win Over All WWE Fans

David Corenswet bagged a titular role in his career in James Gunn’s upcoming DC Universe reboot. The new Superman is currently attending promotional events to announce his maiden appearance as the iconic superhero. The movie will hit theaters on July 11, 2025. However, during one such appearance, a memorable Andre the Giant reference stole the hearts of the WWE fans.

The now-hyped moment took place at an arm-wrestling contest. Interestingly, it happened between David Corenswet and social media influencer Recce Feldman, which ended pretty much as expected. Corenswet easily dominated the social media influencer in the contest. However, it was the new Superman’s reference to a famous dialogue by Andre the Giant that tickled the funny bones of those witnessing the light-hearted entertainment.

The popular TikTok creator, during an interaction with the Superman cast, challenged them to an arm-wrestling contest, which was ultimately accepted by the protagonist of the movie, David Corenswet. The challenge was too easy for Superman, but he wanted to make it look competitive. Corenswet stated:

I just want you to feel that you’re doing well. I hate for people to die embarrassed.

Interestingly, these words came from the movie The Princess Bride from 1987, in which Andre the Giant, the iconic WWE wrestler, plays the role of Fezzik, a kind-hearted giant who played a crucial role in storming Prince Humperdinck’s castle.

One of the key moments in the movie concerning the Fezzik character was when he was involved in a fight with Westley, another iconic character from the movie. As both of them prepared for the inevitable fight, these exact words were said by Fezzik, concerning the difference in size and strength of the Giant.

Years later, David Corenswet said these same lines, looking at his showdown with the TikTok creator from a similar perspective. A competition between him and Reece was too easy for the former, and it was funny that Reece, considering the difference in size and strength, should challenge him to an arm wrestling contest.

An arm wrestling match with Reece Feldman isn’t the only standout promotional event for the new DC Universe movie. Building on the momentum of their successful Summer of Superman campaign and the celebration of Superman Day on April 18, the filmmakers are preparing an even more ambitious and thrilling promotional campaign.

A global promotional tour by the Superman cast is set to begin on June 19. The first leg of the highly anticipated tour will kick off from Manila, Philippines. The tour will subsequently reach Rio De Janeiro, London, Paris, Los Angeles, and New York before its conclusion in Beijing on July 10. The release date for the movie is the same for both USA and China.

The makers of the movie have high hopes for the first major release of the DC Universe reboot. James Gunn, the director of the movie, has described it as a story about humanity, about what it means to be a hero in a world that doesn’t always make it easy to be one.

With this exciting crossover moment for fans, it’ll be fascinating to see how audiences respond to the new Superman. David Corenswet’s Andre the Giant reference has already sparked interest within the wrestling community, adding a unique layer to the film’s buzz. But only time will tell whether Corenswet’s Superman is something worth keeping an eye on or not!
