Cyberpunk 2077 finally arrives on the Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s as glorious as ever. The initial launch for the game wasn’t close to what CD Projekt Red promised, but the way they turned the game around is truly admirable, and frankly, inspiring.
It was obvious that the performance for this title would be compared to other existing handhelds, but the performance that the Nintendo Switch 2 is offering exceeds all expectations and blows Valve’s handheld out of the water. Talk about promising and delivering!
The Steam Deck pales in comparison to the Nintendo Switch 2 when running Cyberpunk 2077
YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits showcased the differences between Cyberpunk 2077 running on the Steam Deck vs the game running on the Nintendo Switch 2, and the results are as good as you’d expect.
Both the Quality and Performance Mode on the Switch 2 look stunning, whereas the Steam Deck falters in comparison, providing a blurry and less-detailed version of the game. Yet, for an older console, the Steam Deck is still holding its own.
However, the Nintendo Switch 2 overperforms by a large margin. It’s worth considering that the Steam Deck is more than 3 years old, while the Switch 2 has just been released.
On the other hand, the Switch 2 is running a Cyberpunk 2077 version that’s custom-made for the console, while the Steam Deck is running the PC version of the game, which had its fair share of problems in the past. Some elements were rebuilt from the ground up to meet the Switch 2’s requirements.
Additionally, the DLSS on the Nintendo Switch 2 makes the image quality sharper, the world more detailed, and boosts frames. The Steam Deck’s FSR 3 Balanced and Performance modes, while providing decent performance, are nowhere close to the Switch 2 in terms of upscaling.
This only goes to show how well the Switch 2 will age with the DLSS technology. You might wanna rethink that decision of purchasing a Steam Deck when there’s a better handheld on the market. Sure, Steam Deck has its pros, but the cons may just push you towards the Switch 2 more.
Cyberpunk 2077 is apparently getting more content and maybe even a new DLC

Apart from launching on the Switch 2, Cyberpunk 2077 is also reportedly getting more content, but it’s unknown if it’ll be a full-fledged expansion like Phantom Liberty or just some new gigs and side quests for existing characters in the game.
Virtuos took up the reins of developing more patches for Cyberpunk after CD Projekt Red delivered update 2.2 and moved on to other projects, but that doesn’t mean support for the game has officially ended.
A user on r/cyberpunkgame recently posted a screenshot showcasing the job experience of a Senior Writer at Virtuos. Interestingly, in the Experience section, they listed that they’ve “coordinated with the Narrative Designer to conceive, write, and polish side quests for upcoming DLC releases.”
New Cyberpunk dlc being written and developed by Virtuos?

Take this information with a grain of salt, as nothing’s confirmed, but because Marcin Momot, the Global Community Director for CD Projekt Red, has already announced on X that a new update for Cyberpunk 2077 is arriving later this month, a DLC doesn’t sound that far-fetched.
Will this upcoming update add a brand new DLC to the game? It could be, or it could also just be a QOL update similar to their previous one. Whatever it is, chooms should be excited as the updates for Cyberpunk 2077 have always been preeminent.
So, what do you think about the Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077? Will you be hitching a ride back to Night City on the new handheld? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below.
