£45m Premier League star reveals he spends summers working as a farmer four thousand miles away

Tel joined Tottenham on a six-month loan from Bayern Munich in January

Tel goes over to the French colony in the Caribbean every year to see them.

And the striker — whose side face Ipswich at Portman Road on Saturday —  is happy to get his hands dirty helping his grandpa out with growing fruit and vegetables.

The France Under-21 star said: “That’s my country. My parents and my sister come from there. I was born in a small part of Paris.

“Every year I go — one week, two weeks  — but I need to go there, for myself, for my confidence.

“Just to see my father happy, my little cousin happy, it brings me a lot of energy.

“I help out my grandfather with agriculture.

“I take some gloves and big shoes, so that’s good!

“It doesn’t matter where I play my football, you have to be humble.  That’s why I go to Guadeloupe to see my family whenever I can.”

Tel ended up being one of the most exciting transfers of the January window.

He completed a deadline-day loan move from Bayern to Spurs, who hold a £45million option to sign him permanently.

Given Spurs’ horror injury crisis since November – Tel was thrown straight into the deep end in North London.

Despite being a Tottenham player for only 21 days, the teen has already played three times.

He was subbed on during the club’s 4-0 Carabao Cup second leg defeat at Anfield and started in their 2-1 FA Cup exit to Aston Villa.

The forward was then handed a full Prem debut in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

HUGE noughties boyband are finally reuniting with full line up despite bitter fall out, say fans who’ve spotted clue

POP fans are convinced that one of the biggest bands of the noughties is reuniting.

Eagle-eyed followers spotted that the group Five have wiped their official Instagram account – and uploaded a rather telling post.

Fans are hoping the whole of Five – J Brown, Abz Love, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson and Sean Conlon – are getting back together[/caption]

They shared a clip from Euston Station with the lyrics to their best loved song – Keep On Movin’ – running along the ticker board.

It was captioned “27.02.25 Loading…” and included a link to their website.
Fans rushed to speculate about what it might mean, desperate to find out if all five members would be returning.

The original line-up included Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson, Abz Love and Jason “J” Brown.

And fans now think they could all be back, with one person commenting: “If J comes back this is the best thing to happen since the 5 piece Spice Girls Olympics performance in 2012.”

Another wrote: “Please say you’re ALL getting back together.”

While someone else commented: “We getting a tour with Five of them.”

Others pointed out that all band members have wiped their profiles – in a hint they are all on board.

And fans have also uncovered a new company was created last year – called All Five Ltd – with all five band members listed as directors on Companies House.

The boys split on 27 September 2001, but have reunited several times over the years.

In 2006 they performed without Sean briefly, and then in 2012 tried again – this time with Sean but without J.

Most recently Sean, Ritchie and Scott, performed together again a trio.

J was left gobsmacked as his bandmates accused of him of being a bully when they appeared on The Big Reunion, in 2013

He later hit back, saying: “I thought, ‘I actually can’t believe what I’m hearing and who I’m hearing it from’. I was loud and a bit aggressive at times, and I was physically bigger than them so I can see how that could have been taken a certain way.

“But never in my mind was I so-called bullying people.”

On the show, fans were gobsmacked as the band rowed about their split, with Ritchie raging: “There were two obnoxious people who ruined it for us – Sean and J.”

‘Still undoubtedly challenges’ as just SEVEN new female recruits enlist for career in Defence Forces amid recent scandal

WOMEN are avoiding a career in the Defence Forces with just SEVEN currently in training out of 135 new recruits.

There are five in the Army, one in the Navy and one in the Air Corp as of February 12 last.

The shock figures were revealed by Tanaiste and Defence Minister Simon Harris.

But there are 99 men training to be soldiers, 24 men in the Navy and five men in the Air Corp.

He also confirmed that out of a further batch of new recruits who have progressed to Private 2 training just 13 of the 194 are female.

The struggle to boost female recruitment figures comes on the back a recent sexual, bullying and harassment scandal exposed by the Women of Honour group.

The Government has vowed to change the culture to make the Irish military more female-friendly and to end the macho image among some officers and troops.

There are around 600 women in the Irish Defence Forces out of 7,500 members – less than 10pc.

The figures were released as Mr Harris was responding to a series of parliamentary questions on the overall recruitment issue.

He said there is a stabilisation in the overall previous downward trend of people joining the Defence Forces.

In 2024, there were 708 new personnel while there were 674 discharges – 81 fewer than the previous year and the lowest since 2020.

The military hope to induct 800 new members this year alone.

The Minister said: “Interest in a career in the Defence Forces continues to rise as evidenced by the total of 13,348 applications received in 2024 across all competitions.

“This is an increase of approximately 33 per cent on the total number received in 2023.

“Whilst there are still undoubtedly challenges, significant progress has been made on a number of fronts and the allocation of record levels of expenditure to the Defence sector is illustrative of my intent in this regard.”

Military recruits on completion of training now get a starting salary of €40,297 while school leaver officer cadets upon commissioning earn €44,216 while in full time education.
