A SCOTS mental health nurse who sparked a mass brawl in a nightclub was fined £640 today.
Rebecca Frew, 29, repeatedly lashed out at Craig Munn in Glasgow city centre’s Kong on October 14 2023.

Frew, of Uddingston, Lanarkshire, initially slapped Mr Munn who had been out with friends earlier that night at a Rangers fan event.
The attack sparked a large fight in the nightclub which landed Frew’s friend Andrew Chalmers in hospital.
Bystander Steven Boulton, 33, had struck Mr Chalmers repeatedly on the head with a plastic cup during the melee, leaving him with a wound which was closed with glue.
Frew briefly left with her injured pal but returned to the scene to retrieve her belongings when she struck Mr Munn with her boot causing a scratch to his head.
The brawl took place four years after the mum-of-one reportedly saw the face of her son’s granddad on his baby scan picture.
Frew claimed her ex-partner Craig Graham’s dad Stephen Graham was their son’s “guardian angel” after she was told the chances of conceiving a child was low.
Stephen was rushed to hospital on the same day that Frew found out that she was pregnant and he passed away 11 days later.
Frew claimed that she saw Stephen’s face on a baby scan picture after his death.
Boulton, of Bellshill, Lanarkshire, meantime pled guilty before trial to assaulting Mr Chalmers to his injury and he was ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work at today’s sentencing.
The court heard that Frew and friend Mr Chalmers arrived at Kong around midnight but became separated.
Frew spoke to Mr Munn, his friends and cousin who had arrived at the nightclub after attending a Rangers event.
Mr Munn’s group and Frew spoke about people they were familiar with in her local area.
CCTV played to the court showed Frew smack Mr Munn to the head before a wider fight occurred among those in attendance including Mr Chalmers.
Footage showed Mr Chalmers being led into a different room and was initially followed by Frew who returned to the bar area to collect her jacket and bag.
Moments later, Frew was seen striking Mr Munn again who was nearby – this time with her boot which she had earlier removed.
Prosecutor Emma Sangray put it to Frew in her evidence that it was the heel of her boot which was used to hit Mr Munn.
She replied: “I don’t think it was the heel as I was holding the heel – it was the front part of the boot.”
Mr Munn was given first aid at the scene for a wound to his head but did not require hospital treatment.
Frew claimed that Mr Munn had made a negative remark before she attacked him on both occasions.
Miss Sangray stated: “I suggest that he did not say a word to you – you went to the side of him and caught him off guard at the side of the head with your shoe.”
Frew: “I would say that’s not what happened.”
The fiscal also suggested to Frew that she went “looking for a fight” which she refuted.
Philip Cohen, defending Frew, told the sentencing that his client lost her job as a result of media attention brought about by the case.
Haroun Malik, defending Boulton, stated “My client understands the serious nature of the charge.”

THE MUM of a newborn baby told a probe today that she died from an infection from a “putrid hospital.”
Theresa Smith, 45, gave evidence today into the Fatal Accident Inquiry (FAI) of Sophia Smith who lost her life when she was 11 days old at Glasgow‘s RoyalHospital for Children on April 11 2017.

Sophia, who had Down’s Syndrome, had been transferred from the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, Renfrewshire, due to breathing difficulties.
It was then discovered that there was a problem with her heart.
Despite initial improvement in her health, Sophia later suffered bleeding and a collapsed lung.
Sophia sadly passed away and tests found that the baby had an infection called PVL-MSSA which is a toxic form of MRSA.
An FAI is a public examination of the circumstances of a death in the public interest before a Sheriff which does not apportion blame or fault.
Sheriff Joanna McDonald opened the proceedings by addressing Theresa and husband Matthew Smith.
She said: “I offer my deepest sympathies and condolences to Mr and Mrs Smith for the tragic death.
“There are no words I can say that can ease the pain of the whole family.
“I offer my deepest condolences.”
The FAI at Glasgow Sheriff Court was told that Sophia’s infection which caused her death can be transferred from skin to skin.
Family lawyer Iain Mitchell KC asked Mrs Smith what she hoped the FAI would achieve.
She replied: “I want to know what happened to my baby and why she isn’t here playing with her brothers and sisters.
“I want to know how she got an infection and how they failed to notice this in a timely manner.
“I want to know why they detected it so late – they responded too late – too little too late.

“She died and I live every day of my life knowing she is dead, knowing that absolutely putrid hospital caused the infection in my child and killed her.
“When it killed her, it killed me.”
“I’m hoping some good can come out of this hell.
“If we can find out how and why and when we can stop this from happening to other babies and families.
“If we can stop that, then Sophia’s life has not been in vain.”
Mrs Smith told the hearing that Sophia’s deterioration in health was “like a lightningstrike – no one saw it coming – I said for a while that the baby wasn’t good.”
Mrs Smith added that “they didn’t have a clue what was going on – they should have.
“There was one-to-one care and they didn’t see the rapid decline in that baby – how is that possible?”
Mrs Smith stated that she told staff something was wrong.
She said: “I would have been better banging my head off the wall – she was white pale white and went translucent in colour.”
Mrs Smith claimed she was told the doctors were “busy.”
Mrs Smith told the hearing: “When Sophia died in my arms that was the only time I had to hold her.”
Mrs Smith further stated that she was able to change Sophia’s nappy once by putting her hand through two holes in the baby’s incubator.
She said: “I didn’t change the nappy in the way I would normally.
“It was like a Dalek or a cyborg.”
Mrs Smith claimed that the NHS has put her and her husband through “eight years of absolute hell.”
She added they faced “hula hoops” and “stone wall after stone” wall in their attempts to get answers on Sophia’s death.
Amazon operational manager Mr Smith, 55, earlier told the hearing that he met Sophia’s doctor Jonathan Coutts after her death.
Mr Smith stated that the doctor told him that it was “bad luck” that Sophia had contracted the infection.
He stated in an affidavit that Mrs Smith was told: “If she hadn’t caught the infection she would have survived” and would have “lived a normal Down’s Syndrome life.”
The witness further told the probe that the infection was not detected until it was “too late.”
Mr Smith earlier told the hearing that Sophia did not cry when she was born.
He stated Sophia was taken to the Royal Hospital For Children with “breathing difficulties.”
Sophia was intubated as well as incubated with “banks of machinery and wires” attached.
Mr Smith stated that he was informed by medics that Sophia had an “issue” with her heart called pulmonary hypertension.
The witness told the inquiry that his daughter’s health “improved” over the next few days.
He stated there was a reduction in machinery and his other children were able to visit Sophia on the ward.
Mr Smith told the probe that he was told by a medic that they were “coming through the woods” and were “out of the death danger zone.”
Prosecutor Chris Fyffe asked Mr Smith if it was a “shock” when he found out that Sophia’s health deteriorated after her tenth day.
He replied: “Yes.”
Mr Fyffe: “Am I right in thinking that this was an unexpected surprise?”
Mr Smith: “A bolt from the blue – no indication.”
A doctor conducted an examination on Sophia and found her to have a collapsed lung.
Mr Smith stated that the colour of Sophia’s skin changed from red and pink to “ash.”
The witness explained in the affidavit that Dr Coutts “couldn’t explain what was going on” in terms of Sophia’s deterioration.
Mr Smith stated that he could “not remember” if there was a discussion about administering Sophia with antibiotics.
After Sophia passed away, Sophia’s parents were told that her cause of death was Down’s Syndrome.
Mr Smith stated: “This was obviously a shock for us as in our opinion, although she had Down’s Syndrome, she hadn’t died from it.”
Other causes of death were bleeding to the lung and disease of the heart muscle.
There were no other cases of the infection which was found in Sophia in the six months before or after her death.
Mr Smith told the probe that a lot of people visiting the room which housed the six ill babies were not adhering to hand washing rules.
He stated that the “majority” of nurses washed their hands but there were times, such as during breaks, when staff would go between children and enter different areas.
The witness added there were times when consultants did not wash their hands.
Mr Smith also reported that a “bank nurse” who dealt with Sophia was “clumsy” and “out her depth.”
This was reported to the senior staff nurse who reassured the Smiths that as Sophia was “improving” she would be “fine” with the baby.
Before the hearing, the family lawyer of the Smiths, from Greenock, Inverclyde, read a statement from outside of the court building.
“It has been a long road to get to this milestone that we have reached today.
“We are pleased that a fatal accident inquiry has been finally set up and hope that by the end of this process, we will know the truth about our daughter and why her life was tragically and heartbreakingly cut short.”
The inquiry continues tomorrow before Sheriff McDonald.

In the post, the mum-of-two uploaded sweet snaps of the little baby girl who joined the family just a day before her twin siblings’ birthday.
According to Yalancia, who began spotting just three months after having her twins, she was rushed to the hospital after experiencing the first signs of labour ”for a bit”.
However, the second the mum-of-12 was hurried into her room to give birth surrounded by doctors, the little baby ”flew out”.
Posting the adorable photos of the little girl – who Yalancia named after herself – the mum said: ”Welcome little miss Yalancia Born the day before her twin siblings birthday.
”Weighing 6lbs 3oz and nursing nonstop (whew my uterus) we laboured at home a bit then went in and as soon as I got my room she flew out, dr [doctor] didn’t make it in,” she joked in the caption.
Yalancia and her husband Michael, 37, are already parents to Jamel, 15, Michael Jr, 11, Angelo, 10, Gimani, seven, Armani, five, Sincere, three, Khaza, two, Kairo, one, and twins Angelita and Azari.
Their fourth son, also named Armani, was stillborn and would have turned eight this year.
Yalancia previously revealed that she was “nervous about her late cycle” despite being on the pill.
And this isn’t the first time she has fallen pregnant while she was on birth control.
She has openly discussed her decision to go without contraception over the years.
According to Yalancia, various forms of birth control have failed her and her husband.
“I have two birth control babies – of course I’ll always be dependent on the Lord himself,” she previously said.
“I’m starting to think my journey’s not over.”
Hundreds of social media users flooded to comments to congratulate Yalancia and the family with the latest addition to the mega brood.
One wrote: ”That’s so beautiful, congratulations Mama! You’re super strong & I am praying for fast healing on your uterus.”
Who are the Rosario children?
Yalancia Rosario, 32, is famous for having a big brood - and despite the odds, she only has one daughter.
With her husband Michael, 37, she shares Jamel, 15, Michael Jr, 11, Angelo, 10, Gimani, seven and Armani, five.
Their younger children are Sincere, three, Khaza, two, Kairo, one, and twins Angelita and Azari, four-months.
Their fourth son, also named Armani, was stillborn and would’ve turned eight this year.

A HUGE soap will make its debut in the UK for the first time today after 33 years on air.
One of the stars from Coronation Street has also teamed up with one of the actors from the show to officially launch the serial drama.

Shortland Street is the longest-running drama in New Zealand and it will be available for UK viewers to watch from today on STV Player.
The streaming service is the first in the UK to air brand new episodes of the soap in line with the down under broadcast.
It first made its debut on television screens in 1992 and has aired continuously on New Zealand’s state broadcaster, TVNZ ever since.
Michael Galvin, 57, is the longest serving actor on the show, playing the role of Dr Chris Warner.
He appeared as the character in the first episode of the show and has celebrated the launch in a unique way.
He teamed up with Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney for an exciting new interview.
Claire – who plays Cassie Plummer on the cobbles – is also known for her role as Lindsey Corkhill in Brookside.
The Liverpool soap was revived by STV Player in 2023, with five classic episodes added to the service every Wednesday.
In their chat, Michael explained how the long-running drama has become so popular down under due to its issue based storylines.
“Our writers, over the decades, have always taken very seriously the idea of trying to keep it current, so they’re always on the lookout for the issues that people are concerned about,” he told Claire.
The star continued: “The other thing about Shortland Street is that, unlike the UK, it’s kind of the only drama that’s always there.
“Sometimes, depending on our industry, it’s literally the only TV show being made in New Zealand, so I think the writers feel a responsibility and obligation to make sure that everything is reflected.”
Shortland Street is focused on the staff who work at the eponymous hospital in the fictional Auckland suburb of Ferndale.
The show follows all the drama they come to face on a day-to-day basis, both in their professional and their personal lives.
Dozens of stars who have gone onto international success have used the show as a training ground.
Well established stars have also popped into the hospital for a cameo such as Ed Sheeran in 2014 and US talk show host Conan O’Brien last year.

But that’s not the only look the host has donned from Styled By Sarah Rackard this month.

Posting on TikTok, the actress revealed her upcoming projects – including filming for the BBC.
Cheryl shared to her followers: “I’ve been packing, getting ready for Londonnext week. Going to be doing a little secret project.
“Then, I will be filming for the BBC. And then I will be going to The Groove Chorus, working with the beautiful Groove Chorus at The Clapham Ground on the 21st and 22nd.”
It comes as Cheryl flogged tickets to fans to see her perform at a Chinese takeaway’s opening earlier this month.
Posting on social media, the formersoapactress said she’d sing for diners at the The Dragon Lounge in Blackpool.
She serenaded customers at the establishment across February 1 and February 2, kicking off at 7pm.

“I ended up having to sell my house. Now I am living up north and renting.”
Cheryl made her first appearance as Heather Trott, sidekick to Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) in June 2007, initially as a guest character.
Owing to her popularity, Heather later became a full-time part of the BBC soap.
However, her time in Walford ended in tragedy after she was bludgeoned by Ben Mitchell (then Joshua Pascoe) in early 2012.
After Cheryl posted a cryptic message on Instagram last year, fans hoped it meant a return for Heather – despite the character’s death.
At the top of a snap, the star wrote the telling line: “Are you still watching this space?”

Parents John and Moira desperately tried to help get their daughter clean but when Holly returned in 2016, following a four-year absence, she quickly relapsed. Fans were left stunned and heartbroken when distraught Moira found Holly dead in her bed from a heroin overdose.
Hollyoaks: Luke’s rape (2000) – Actor Gary Lucy was just 17 when he took on this groundbreaking storyline, which saw his character Luke Morgan become soap’s first male rape victim. Luke had endured a long-running bullying campaign by football rival Mark Gibbs – who raped him after Luke stood up to him. Luke was left suicidal following the brutal attack, before opening up to his brother Adam. Gibbs was sentenced to eight years in prison. Gary won the Best Actor gong at the British Soap Awards in 2000 for his performance.
Coronation Street: Evil Richard Hillman (2001-2003) – Just a mere mention of ‘Richard Hillman’ is enough to send a shiver down the spines of soap fans. He is often ranked one of the most evil soap villains and it’s not hard to see why. The smooth-talking financial adviser bashed his ex-wife Patricia over the head with a shovel. In a bid to keep his mother-in-law Audrey quiet, he set fire to her house. And when Maxine caught him trying to murder Emily Bishop, he took a crowbar to her head. He made his exit from the cobbles in 2003 when he drove Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, and her family into the canal. They survived, but he didn’t.

IRFU brass have announced that Ireland will hold an open training session at Aviva Stadium.
Fans will be allowed attend the event that takes place at the Dublin 14 venue on Thursday, 27th February.
Ireland will hold an open training session ahead of their final Six Nations clash against FranceFans are invited to attend the Aviva Stadium for free but MUST have tickets
The session will kick off at 11am, with gates open at 10am.
The event will come ahead of Ireland’s final round of the Six Nations Championship against France on March 8.
Tickets for the open session are free and will be available on a first come, first served basis.
You can get your tickets on Ticketmaster.ie on Tuesday, 18th February from 12pm.
Speaking about the open session, Ireland Head Coach Simon Easterby said:“Welcoming thousands of our supporters to Aviva Stadium for an Open Training Session is a highlight of the Six Nations campaign.
“The support you have given us over the last couple of years has been a real boost to the team and we hope that you will join us on the day.
“Make as much noise as you can and enjoy the action on the pitch.”

CELTIC fans in Munich have been asked to be mindful of a memorial service taking place in the city before their match against Bayern Munich.
The Hoops take on Bayern in the second leg of their Champions League play-off tie on Tuesday evening at the Allianz Arena.

Last week a mother and daughter were killed and dozens more injured when a car rammed into a crowd of people on the streets of the city.
The mum was aged 37 and her child was just two years old, and they died in hospital as doctors tried to treat their injuries.
German police said at least 36 people were injured in the tragedy, which happened on Thursday.
The driver, who was in a Mini Cooper, has been identified and named as Farhad N, a 24-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan.
Munich public prosecutor Gabriele Tilmann told reporters last week that the suspect said “Allahu Akbar”, which translates from Arabic to English as “God is greatest”, when he was detained. It’s believed he acted alone and he had no previous criminal record.
A service will take place tonight at 6pm to pay respects to the victims.
Local authorities in Munich contacted Celtic to make them aware of the plans and to ask any fans who are in the city to be mindful that it is taking place.
The vigil will be held at the Dome in the Marienplatz area of the city.
A statement from the Glasgow club read: “We have been informed today (Monday) by the local authorities in Munich that a memorial service will take place in the city centre following the tragic attack last week which saw more than 30 injured and a mother and two-year-old child lose their lives.
“The service will take place at the Dome (Frauenkirche) in the Marienplatz area and we ask that our supporters are aware and mindful that this service is taking place at 6pm this evening.
