EastEnders ‘reveals’ who attacked Cindy Beale – as she confronts them in dramatic showdown

EASTENDERS has ‘revealed’ the identity of Cindy Beale’s attacker – as she confronted them in a dramatic showdown.

At Christmas, an unidentified attacker hit the soap legend – played by Michelle Collins – over the head with a shovel.

Tonight’s episode saw Cindy certain that her ex-husband Ian (Adam Woodyatt) was responsible.

Left fearing for her safety, she went to No.45 armed with Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) gun.

Although viewers saw a figure holding Cindy’s stolen locket – which had been taken after the attack – this individual’s face was not shown.

Despite this, fans are convinced they know this mystery person’s identity.

They believe it is Cindy’s long-absent daughter, Cindy Williams (Mimi Keene).

One person wrote on X: “Mimi Keene took back the Cindy jr role just to get shot in her 1st scene.”

Another added: “who tf is holding that locket? is cindy jr back with a vengeance?”

A third penned: “unless this is reiss then i think the person who attacked cindy is someone coming back like cindy jr…”

While a fourth chimed in: “That has to be Cindy JR… it has to be.”

As a fifth remarked: “oh it’s definitely cindy jr OH ITS DEFINITELY HER.”

Earlier in the episode, Ian and Cindy had a heated conversation in the café.

Cindy revealed her suspicions of Ian and declared she was “coming for” him.

In response, Ian suggested she leave Walford altogether – saying all she had there was people who hate her.

Later on, Cindy interrupted Billy (Perry Fenwick) and Honey (Emma Barton) wedding celebrations in The Queen Vic.

She told Ian he was “finished” in front of their friends, family and neighbours.

Who attacked Cindy Beale: The suspects

Cindy Beale was dramatically attacked at the end of the highly-anticipated Christmas Day special.

But there is question on the lips of every fan, who exactly was behind it?

Elaine Knight (Harriet Thorpe): She blackmailed Cindy to get out of Walford before kicking her husband George out following his surprise reaction to the public revelation about the affair. Cindy also called her ‘withered’ in her long rant.

George Knight (Colin Salmon): He claimed he was not interested in reigniting things with his ex-wife. But he was left enraged by his son’s behaviour, leaving his relationship with Elaine in ruins.

Junior Knight (Micah Balfour): He was caught suspiciously lurking in the shadows by Denise in the aftermath of the attack. He was hurt by Cindy because she claimed their affair only happened because he reminded her of his father George.

Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt): After finding out about the affair, hew kicked Cindy out in anger. He then trashed his living room, he stormed out the house and appeared to be unreachable at the time of the attack and in the aftermath.

Kojo Asare (Oludayo Koleosho): After finding out about Cindy’s affair, she put him into a coma when she pushed him off a raised platform. Could he want revenge?

Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth): She was the one to find Cindy on the pavement in the Square gardens after she was attacked with the snow shovel. Kathy always remained suspicious of Cindy because of her past and was devastated at the destruction of her family.

Anna Knight (Molly Rainford): Was seen looking out of the upstairs window with a birds eye view of the square at the time Cindy went to get her cab.

Gina Knight (Francesca Henry): Recovering addict Gina snuck out of the Vic with her coat to go on a ‘walk’, just before the attack took place.

Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa): Cindy got Lauren addicted to smack and revealed her addiction to her family, leaving Peter devastated and her family destroyed. Just before Cindy was attacked, Lauren was contemplating taking more pills in the car lot.

Peter Beale (Thomas Law): Cindy destroyed the family unit they all shared by her actions. She then called him ‘stupid’ in her extensive monologue in the Vic which left his drowning his tears.

Cindy added: “I am calling the police, they’re going to search No.45 and they will find that locket!”

Ian re-iterated that he wasn’t responsible, leading Cindy out of the Vic as she continued to accuse him.

Was Ian who Cindy found in No.45 and if not – who is it?

‘I could roll out of bed’ – Darts star Gerwyn Price again calls out Jake Paul

DARTS star Gerwyn Price has once again called out Jake Paul.

The Welshman raised eyebrows when he claimed he could knock out YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul with “one punch”.

Price continued his goading by posting a mocked up picture of him and Paul while asking fans who would win in a fight.

He then wrote: “I could roll out of bed in the morning and get the job done.”

The 2021 PDC World Champion then posted a mocked up AI image of him knocking out Paul.

Price is a former professional rugby player but the ex-hooker gave it up in 2014 to focus on darts.

In 2022, he was training for a charity boxing match but he later cancelled it on “medical advice.”

But when probed about fighting Paul, he told talkSPORT in February: “I think it would just be one punch, and it would be all over.

“Out cold; it would be a waste of money for people to tune in.”

Paul is 11-1 in his pro boxing career, losing only to Tommy Fury, 25, by split-decision in 2023.

He most recently beat Mike Tyson in November after the heavyweight legend controversially came out of retirement at 58.

And Paul was recently in shock talks to fight Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez, 34.

And darts legend Dennis Priestley warned Price against trying to goad Paul into a fight.

Priestly told OLBG: “I don’t think Jake Paul is as bad a fighter as some people think.

“I’d get in the ring with him if the money was right. I assume that [the money] is why Gerwyn has come out with a statement like that.

“I’d back Jake Paul to beat Gerwyn if they ever did get in the ring. I think, deep down, Gerwyn knows that there’s no chance of the fight happening.

“But even so, he’s kidding himself if he actually believes he’d win.”

Army chiefs warn sending thousands of troops to Ukraine will leave Britain stretched and vulnerable to attack

THE British Army will be stretched to breaking point if thousands of troops go to hold the line in Ukraine.

Top Army sources insisted they could cope, but warned it would leave no slack if the UK’s enemies attack elsewhere.

The US push for peace in Ukraine has been called a ‘gift to Putin’, easing pressure on Russia, according to a UK defence source[/caption]

It comes as US officials including Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived to meet their Kremlin counterparts in Saudi Arabia for early talks over a peace deal.

Ukraine and America’s Nato allies have not been invited.

A British defence source has labelled the US sprint for peace as a “gift to Vladimir Putin”.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said he is ready to send Our Boys and Girls to “guarantee Ukraine’s security”.

He was meeting other European leaders yesterday as they try to work around the shifting sands of US foreign policy.

But an MoD insider has warned transferring so many British troops to Ukraine duties would leave the Army “fixed” in one place.

The UK could send two brigades — up to 10,000 troops — as well as an HQ, sources said.

A top source warned it was “premature” to promise troops before there is a peace deal — especially as Donald Trump has frozen Ukraine and its allies out of the process.

If the UK sends 10,000 peacekeepers, another 20,000 would be needed on standby in Britain. Of those, half would be preparing to go and the other half recovering and training their successors.

Our source said: “It would be a lot like when we had wars in Iraq and Afghanistan at the same time. The Army was flat out then.

“The difference was we had 100,000 soldiers then. Today, there’s barely 70,000.”

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said it would take at least 200,000 troops to enforce any peace deal with Russia.

Western officials suggested a force half that size would suffice, as their main job would be to act as a trip wire for Russia.

They said: “A trip wire force has to be big enough to deter Russia or to slow them down.

“But if Moscow wanted to overrun a multi-national force there would have to be a build up and we would see it coming. We would have time to respond.”

The UK has 71,300 trained soldiers — its smallest Army for 200 years.

An Army source said: “The best thing Britain can offer is command and control in the form of an HQ. But if you’re the country providing the headquarters, you have to put in troops as well.”

The UK has already committed a 5,000 strong brigade to Nato duties in Estonia if tensions escalate.

That also requires another 10,000 ready to rotate, meaning 15,000 are needed in total.

A second source said: “If we had 5,000 in Estonia and 10,000 in Ukraine, we would need 45,000 soldiers.

“The field army is only 48,000 soldiers. That’s 95 per cent of the field army gone. It doesn’t leave much flex.”

A top UK defence source has warned the US blind-siding allies and freezing out Ukraine has “taken the pressure off Russia”.

And even Moscow has framed the last-minute talks in Riyadh as a coup for tyrant Putin. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said: “The presidents agreed to leave behind this absolutely ridiculous period in US-Russia relations, when they essentially didn’t speak.”

Lavrov has also scoffed at US allies who felt left out of the process. He said: “I don’t know if there’s anything for them to do at the negotiating table.”

A former UK forces chief said: “The best thing we could do is divert all our effort to help Ukraine keep pressure on Russia.”

He said Moscow’s economy is in trouble and risks collapsing within the year. Interest rates are at 20 per cent and the Kremlin is spending almost half its budget on security and defence.

He added: “The only way to get concessions from Putin is if he is under pressure.”

Trump stunned allies last week by revealing he had held talks with Putin and said Ukraine would never join Nato. His aides scoffed at Kyiv’s aim of retaking captured territory and ruled out sending in US troops.

President Zelensky, on a visit to the United Arab Emirates yesterday, said Kyiv “will not take part” in the Riyadh talks and “did not know anything about it”. He added: “We cannot recognise any agreements about us without us.”

The US Secretary of State said he wants to set out a framework for peace talks, promising: “If it’s real negotiations, Ukraine will have to be involved. And the Europeans as they have sanctions on Russia.”

As talks begin, footage of a Russian commander has been revealed allegedly ordering the illegal execution of two Ukrainian fighters.

He uses live drone footage to repeatedly order the killing of the unarmed, surrendered troops.

Man City ready for new face-off with Real Madrid over £85m ‘new Kevin de Bruyne’ transfer

MANCHESTER CITY are set to go head-to-head with rivals Real Madrid again this summer – in a battle for £85 million midfielder Florian Wirtz.

The two old foes – who meet again in the Bernabeu on Wednesday – are both huge admirers of the Germany international.

City see Wirtz as the ideal long-term replacement for club legend Kevin De Bruyne

Bayer Leverkusen’s star man, 21, is believed to be keen on a switch to the Spanish giants when he does leave his homeland.

But Pep Guardiola and his bosses at the Etihad view him as an ideal long-term successor to Kevin De Bruyne.

City began their rebuilding programme by splashing out more than £175 million on four new signings in January.

That included defensive midfielder Nico Gonzalez and Saturday’s hat-trick hero Omar Marmoush who can play as a No 10 or out wide.

But they know that De Bruyne, who turns 34 in the summer and is also out of contract around the same time, cannot go on forever.

Guardiola admitted last week that two long-term injuries mean the brilliant Belgian is ‘not the same’ player he used to be.

Homegrown England star Phil Foden will be eyeing the vacancy – but is also versatile enough to be used in a number of different positions.

However they are also weighing up their options from outside the club – and Wirtz is among the candidates.

He has 27 goals and assists so far this season for Xabi Alonso’s men – and Leverkusen would love to tie him down to a new contract.

His decision could well be impacted by his current coach – with the former Liverpool midfielder in the frame to succeed Carlo Ancelotti at Madrid.

Florian Wirtz's 2024-25 season statistics for Leverkusen.

Bayern Munich – managed by City legend Vincent Kompany – could also enter the race for Wirtz.

The youngster has formed a promising partnership with Jamal Musiala for the national team and the German league leaders would love to pair them together at club level too.

Meanwhile City are due to welcome new £12.5 million signing Claudio Echeverri to the Etihad this week after he completed his international duty with Argentina Under 20s.

The 19-year-old has been dubbed the ‘new Messi’ back in his homeland and arrives with a glowing reputation.

He will link up with the first team squad so Guardiola can decide whether he is ready to challenge for a place – or if he should go out on loan next season.

Pep and his squad will fly to Spain on Tuesday to prepare for their latest Champions League encounter with Madrid.

The holders have a 3-2 lead following a dramatic late win at the Etihad – meaning City have it all to do if they are to avoid an early exit.

But they did win at the Bernabeu five years ago – and still have hope they save themselves.

Guardiola will make a check on stand-in skipper Erling Haaland who limped off late in the 4-0 win over Newcastle with a knee injury.

However, the Norway international was snapped during a warm down session at the City Football Academy on Sunday and is expected to be named in the travelling party.

This is the fifth time the two clubs have been drawn together in the competition in the last six seasons.
