Prince Andrew refuses to exchange ‘lavish’ mansion for modest cottage as he believes it’s ‘not grand enough for him’

THIS is the shocking moment a driver sent an OAP flying after smashing into her while distracted by his sat-nav.
Glen Brady was driving a HGV through Cheshire when he swerved across the road.
He then mounted the kerb before ploughing into a 67-year-old pedestrian.
Footage released by police showed the woman being flung across a grassy area.
Brady, 47, then comes to a stop as the pedestrian lays sprawled on the ground.
Miraculously, she managed to escape the smash with just minor injuries.
Brady pleaded guilty to dangerous driving when he appeared at Crewe Magistrates’ Court.
He was spared jail and instead handed a 24-week sentence, suspended for 12 months.
Brady was also banned from driving for 18 months and must complete an extended driving test before he is allowed to get behind the wheel again.
The court was told he was driving towards Congleton at around 1.40pm on December 17 when he became distracted by his sat-nav.
Police Constable James Shrimpton, of the Constabulary’s Roads and Crime Team, said: “I hope this case makes other motorists think very carefully about their actions behind the wheel and that they should be aware that when they get in a vehicle, they have the potential to cause real damage and even take a life.
“You have not only your life in your hands but other road users and this needs to be remembered every time you make that journey.
“The pedestrian involved in this collision was discharged the same day and was very lucky to come away with only minor injuries.
“Due to the nature of Glen Brady’s driving and the sheer size of the vehicle itself, we could have quite easily been dealing with a much more serious, or even fatal, injuries.”
MANCHESTER UNITED have made an initial approach for Viktor Gyokeres, according to reports.
The striker scored 66 goals for Ruben Amorim when the pair worked together at Sporting.
In total, he boasts a staggering 97 goals in 102 appearances for the Portuguese giants.
Gyokeres, 27, has an £84million release clause in his contract at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
However, Sky Sports News report United contacted Sporting to enquire about the Swedish international.
It is understood Gyokeres had a gentlemen’s agreement with Sporting that he can leave for around £58m.
And Amorim is desperate to be reunited with the striker – with his current No9s Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling for goals.
United cannot offer any European football next season – let alone Champions League football.
But Amorim will hope his personal connection can entice Gyokeres, who is also wanted by Arsenal.

THIS is the moment a brave presenter stays calm and soldiers on as an earthquake shakes the studio mid-broadcast.
France 24’s Spanish-language TV news was airing live from Bogota, Colombia, when a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck on Sunday morning.
Presenter Helena Lozano was in the studio, wrapping up a report from a correspondent in Beirut, when the building began shaking.
The screen behind the desk wavered around and the camera footage wobbled unsteadily.
Lozano puts her hands on the table to steady herself, but doesn’t miss a beat.
At first, she described the disruption as a “slight tremor”, before quickly recognising the quake was more intense.
She said: “We are currently witnessing a slight tremor in the France 24 studios.”
Then, moments later, she admitted: “It’s not slight, it’s quite strong.
“The studio lights and cameras are shaking. We urge everyone to remain calm. We will return shortly.”
Despite the obvious danger, Lozano carried on speaking clearly and professionally – urging viewers to stay calm and evacuate if necessary.
The clip went viral on social media, with many praising her guts for keeping a cool head.
One impressed viewer wrote on X: “How calm and professional the presenter is – I almost died of fright at home.”
Another wrote: “My respects to her professionalism.”
The quake’s epicentre was located about 150km from Bogota, and just 10km beneath the surface, which made its effects more violent.
Tremors were felt widely across central Colombia and reportedly left four people injured after striking just after 8am local time.
The capital was spun into panic by the tectonic shudders, with sirens blaring around the city and locals fleeing their homes out onto the street.
It was one of the strongest quakes the country has seen in years – and was followed up by a 4.0 magnitude aftershock 12 minutes later.
Large areas of shanty neighbourhoods were razed to the ground, with ramshackle homes left crumpled in piles.
Pictures emerged of huge paving slabs which had split and buckled under the enormous force in Bogota.
The last time Colombia was rocked by an earthquake stronger than this was 2016, when a 7.8 magnitude killed almost 700 people.
And in 1999, almost 2,000 were wiped out by a 6.1 magnitude quake.
A MAP reveals where Brits will be basking in 29C sunshine this week, but parts of the country will also be battered by thunderstorms.
With temperatures set to climb again this week, many of us will have our sights set on a visit to the local boozer or take in the rays on the beach or green space.
Following a patch of gloomy grey weather and scattered rainfall, revellers may enjoy temperatures as high as 29C on Friday in southern England.
But these sunny conditions may be short lived, Met Office Meteorologist Craig Snell explained, as a plum of warm air from Iberia and France is set to kick in on Wednesday evening, bringing a chance of thunderstorms.
He said: “After Wednesday, we start to draw up some very warm and humid air from Iberia and France, and that will make it quite humid across much of the UK and that humidity will potentially spark off some thunderstorms.
“From late Wednesday and especially into Thursday, we start to see the risk of some thunderstorms around and that will continue as we go through Thursday and Friday and potentially into Saturday as well.”
The Met Office added that it would begin to feel increasingly humid on Thursday, bringing about the increased risk of some heavy or even thundery showers developing.
Craig continued: “By the time we get to midweek, it will feel very different out there, with quite humid night times also becoming a good deal warmer than what we have been experiencing over the last couple of nights, so probably borderline uncomfortable for some people by day.”
This comes just days after the Met Office issued a severe weather warning for thunderstorms across southern England.
The predicted 40mm of rainfall on Saturday was higher than what England saw during the entire month of May.
Met Office data shows England recorded 32.8mm of rain last month – almost half the usual monthly average.
Meanwhile, Brits abroad have been urged not to drink the beer amid a scorching 42-degree heatwave from Africa.
Areas of the country roasted under extreme heat over the weekend – and the balmy temperatures look set to stay.
Some spots were so hot the state forecaster, Aemet, was forced to issue weather warnings.
Yellow and amber alerts came into force on Sunday – with Sevilla, Cordoba and Jaen in the south worst affected.
Emergency guidance was issued to tourists and locals alike advising them on how to stay safe when it’s sweltering.
One suggestion likely unpopular with Brits on their hols was to avoid alcohol, because it has a dehydrating effect on the body.
The advice is to drink water often, even if you’re not thirsty, and avoid both alcohol and caffeine.
It was also recommended to “dress smart”, which means wearing loose-fitting clothes – particularly cotton or linen if possible.
Lighter colours reflect the sun so can help you to stay cool.
Another point is to simply stay indoors during times of peak temperatures, and certainly to avoid any strenuous activity under the sun.
