The company is now boasting its the “only channel in the UK to show live coverage of all four of the sport’s major singles prizes”.

That means Wimbledon, plus the French Open, US Open and Australian Open.

However, the Beeb will remain Wimbledon’s main domestic broadcaster after its 88 years of coverage.

The BBC and Eurosport arrangements are both with the All England Lawn Tennis Cub (AELTC).

Ofcom Listed Events regulations allow for “secondary broadcasters” at major sporting tournaments.

And that’s the status Eurosport is taking at Wimbledon.

Susanna Dinnage, MD of Discovery Networks UK and Ireland said the new deal “cements” Eurosport’s “position as

This year’s Wimbledon runs from Monday June 30 to Sunday July 13.

Britain’s two-time SW19 king Andy Murray could return as a Beeb pundit, having ended a six-month stint coaching Novak Djokovic.

The grass-court tournament retains pride of place in the BBC’s sporting armoury.

But it costs the Beeb around £60million a year for the privilege.

Heartache as ‘loving’ Irish dad-of-three dies ‘unexpectedly’ in Wales & tributes pour for ‘very lovely young man’

An image collage containing 1 images, Image 1 shows Portrait of a smiling man with long brown hair and a beard

TRIBUTES are being paid to a “loving” Irish dad-of-three who died “unexpectedly” in Wales last month.

Ian McCormack, a 32-year-old originally from Drogheda Co Louth, died in Abercynon on May 14.

His family shared a heartfelt death notice describing him as a devoted father to Ellie Myri, and Ciarán and a much-loved son and brother.

It reads: “Ian Mc Cormack, Abercynon, Wales (formerly of North Road, Drogheda), unexpectedly at the age of 32 on 14 May 2025.

“Loving dad to Ellie, Myri and Ciarán; beloved son of Brendan and Theresa, and dear brother to Martin.”

The notice added: “Ian will be sadly missed by all his family, including Steph, Emma and José; also by his relatives and friends in Wales and Ireland.”

News of the dad’s death has left both Welsh and Irish communities deeply shaken.

Ian was known for his musical talent, playing trombone with the Drogheda Brass Band before relocating to Wales.

And the band have since paid their respects and shared fond memories on social media.

They said: “All at Drogheda Brass Band were saddened to hear of the passing of our former trombone player Ian McCormack suddenly in Wales.

“We remember him fondly from his time with us, most especially at the European Brass Band Championships in Oostende, Belgium, in 2009.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time. Rest in peace.”

Friends, neighbours and others who knew Ian have also recalled the honesty and warmth he brought into their lives.

One friend said: “Dear Martin and Family, though I haven’t met you all, I’ve known Martin for a long time and am grateful to call him my true friend.

“I was deeply saddened to hear about your loss. Losing someone so young is incredibly hard, and my thoughts are with you all, especially the children, during this difficult time.

“Martin’s honesty, strength, and kindness reflect the family he comes from. I hope you find comfort and support in one another as you navigate this.

“Please know you’re in my thoughts and if there’s anything I can do to help, just let me know.”

FUNERAL DETAILS

Another friend wrote: “To Martin and the whole family, my deepest condolences with the loss of Ian.

“To lose someone who was a father, a son and a brother is devastating. I hope the whole family can find comfort and support with each other through these difficult times.”

A third commented: “We were very sad to hear this news. Ian was a very lovely young man. Thinking of his family at this tragic time.”

He will be reposing at Townley’s Funeral Home in Drogheda this Wednesday, from 3pm to 7pm.

Ian’s Funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday at 11:30am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, followed by burial at Newtown Cross Lawns Cemetery.

Those who can’t be there in person will still be able to watch the service live at www.saintpetersdrogheda.ie.

Bombshell report reveals Pentagon fueled UFO myths around Area 51 to hide classified weapons program

SOME wild UFO conspiracy theories were actually cooked up and stoked by the Pentagon itself, a bombshell report has revealed.

The U.S. Department of Defense spread claims that aliens were kept at Area 51 to cover up secret weapons projects, according to an investigation by The Wall Street Journal.

The purpose of the alleged cover-up was to use Area 51 for secret weapons testing[/caption]

This was quietly left out of the Department of Defense’s 2024 transparency report[/caption]

In the 1980s, a U.S. Air Force colonel visited a bar near Area 51 in Nevada and handed the owner doctored photos of flying saucers near the military base.

The photos were pinned to the walls – and before long, local legend, followed by the rest of the world, had it the U.S. military was secretly testing recovered alien tech.

This came to light in a shocking review of the 2024 Defense Department report published by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Friday.

The now-retired officer admitted the ruse to Pentagon investigators in 2023.

The goal was to distract from what was really happening at Area 51 – the development of top-secret stealth aircraft, seen at the time as vital to maintaining an edge over the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

But the report released last year by the Pentagon dismissed claims of a government UFO cover-up.

The WSJ, in fact, argues the opposite – that the government not only misled the public but actively fuelled UFO myths.

The report writes: “The Pentagon itself sometimes deliberately fanned the flames, in what amounted to the U.S. government targeting its own citizens with disinformation.”

It includes findings made by Sean Kirkpatrick, the first director of the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), who in 2022 was tasked with investigating countless UFO theories.

Kirkpatrick discovered several conspiracies that traced back to the Pentagon itself.

For example, his team found out that the Air Force had initiated new recruits by giving them mock briefings about a fake unit called “Yankee Blue” – which supposedly investigated alien spacecraft.

Under strict orders to keep quiet, many people never discovered that this was a prank, Kirkpatrick’s team claimed.

The strange practice continued until 2023 when the Pentagon finally issued an order across the DoD to put an end to it.

Another finding by Kirkpatrick, reported by the WSJ, was that the government deliberately misled the public about secret military projects.

For instance, Robert Salas, a former Air Force captain, claims he saw a UFO hover over a nuclear missile site in Montana in 1967.

In reality, what he saw was a test of an early electromagnetic pulse (EMP) designed to see if American silos could survive atomic radiation and retaliate if the Soviet Union struck first.

The test failed and Salas was told to never discuss what he saw, the report tells.

A DoD spokesperson admitted to the WSJ that the government has not shared all of AARO’s findings, saying a new report due later this year will be clearer.

Sue Gough said: “The department is committed to releasing a second volume of its Historical Record Report, to include AARO’s findings on reports of potential pranks and inauthentic materials.”

It comes as a photo claiming to show a 1,000ft-wide silver UFO soaring over the US was released by a notorious Pentagon whistleblower.

The picture was allegedly snapped by an airline pilot in 2021 while flying 21,000ft above the Four Corners Monument – spanning New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado.

Luis Elizondo revealed the photo during a UAP Disclosure Fund event.

But sceptics were quick to challenge the discovery – claiming the photo merely showed irrigation circles that are common in desert climates.

The happy couple brought their little ones, Gigi and Theodore, to France for Jack Maynard and heiress Lily Mackie’s big day.

It marks the second time that the couple have married – following a stunning London wedding last month.

The pair exchanged vows at the Château Saint-Martin & Spa in Vence, France on May 17, 2025.

FAMILY TIME

The star-studded guest list included Jack’s brother Conor Maynard and their sister Anna.

The fabulous frock had a high neck and long sleeve puffy sleeves with shoulder pads and a slit down the leg.

She finished off her glam look with a pair of open-toe heels that she got from Bicester Village, a Crystal and Co bag, a “mad” statement earring and brown-tinted round sunglasses.

While Spencer looked dapper wearing a classic black suit with a white shirt and black dickie bow.

I fell 9,000ft & LIVED after my paraglider wing collapsed during a flight… but I can’t wait to get back in the sky

A GRANDAD has told how his paraglider’s wing collapsed 9,000ft above the French Alps.

Retired counter-terrorism cop Steve Barnett, 57, flew into a storm cloud, saturating his glider.

The wing caved under the weight of water as he tried an emergency landing — sending him falling 30ft through trees.

Steve broke his pelvis when he hit the ground at 40mph.

He called fellow paraglider Matt Roach, 47, for help.

The pal, in the air at the time, tracked him down and alerted a rescue helicopter.

Steve was airlifted from Passy, in south eastern France, to a hospital near the Italian border.

He was allowed to head home to Seaford, East Sussex, just two days later.

Steve recalled: “There was a big cloud and I started hearing a pitter patter on the wing.

“It came down heavier.

“Then all I could hear was this snapping, crackling and rippling.

“I bounced on the ground and rolled.

“It was like someone had kicked me really hard.”

Unfazed, he added: “I can’t wait to get back into the sky.”
