Fans stunned at empty stadium for Andorra vs England with Lionesses’ game vs Spain at same stadium hosting TWICE as many

THOMAS TUCHEL’S England side attracted just half the support garnered by the Lionesses as the Three Lions played in RCDE Stadium.

England’s men took on Andorra in the La Liga Stadium on Saturday afternoon, seeing 6,945 England fans make the trip for the World Cup qualifier.

The RCDE stadium, home of Spanish side Espanyol, looked noticeably empty during the match between England’s men and Andorra.

Sparse pockets of fans spread across the stands in Barcelona with just shy of 7,000 tickets sold to England fans for the match inside the 40,000-seat stadium.

That is just half of the 14,000 fans that piled into the same stadium to watch England Women take on Spain in the Nations League on Tuesday – a match the Lionesses ultimately lost 2-1 as they prepare for this summer’s Euros.

Fans online were quick to notice how empty the stadium looked, reacting on social media.

One wrote: “What a joke to have a 40,000 seater stadium be that empty when England fans could of had the tickets”.

While another added: “I’m sure everyone is having a lovely time in Barcelona, but a half empty stadium does look rubbish”.

A third asked: “Why is the stadium so empty?”

And a fourth posted: “Must be weird for the England players playing in an empty stadium, looks like an U21 game.”

It’s no surprise that the stadium wasn’t packed with Andorra fans, with the 40,000 capacity roughly the same as half of the nation’s entire population.

The match, which is considered as Andorra’s home fixture, should have been played at Andorra’s national stadium but was moved to Barcelona – a three hour drive through the Pyrenees.

That’s because Andorra’s Estadi Nacional in Andorra la Vella holds just 3,000 fans, meaning a move to Espanyol’s ground accommodated even more supporters for the clash.

Andorra are moving into a new stadium in the town of Encamp which hosts 5,600 fans, but the ground wasn’t ready in time for this fixture to be arranged there.

Ever since the big reveal, Doireann has been excited to share her honest pregnancy journey with fans.

She routinely keeps fans updated with candid admissions and by sharing her hilarious pregnancy cravings.

Today, she took to her Instagram to share an adorable video of her getting ready for a friend’s child’s christening.

Stepping out for the mass, Doireann donned a gorgeous plunged midi dress.

She told fans she “sized up just in case because of the bump, but probably didn’t need to.”

The red frock featured a deep v cut neckline with big open flowing sleeves.

The fabulous cotton frilled dress was from Asos Design where it retails for €42.

She paired her outfit with a pair of gold skinny strapped heels and she reached for a stunning gold woven bag – that matched her shoes.

For her hair, Doireann opted to wear her brunette hair down in some natural waves.

After getting ready for her day at the christening, Doireann took a quick video of herself in her full get-up.

And while she filmed, her husband, Mark popped in to show off his all black look.

Sharing the video with her fans, Doireann wrote: “Christening ready.”

You’re Too Late BioShock 4, Atomic Heart 2 Now Has My Whole Heart

The BioShock 4 announcement seems like a lifetime ago; since then, many games have come and gone. A recent title that was heavily compared to 2K Games’ BioShock franchise was Atomic Heart; some of you even called it a spiritual successor. I do agree with that, as the aesthetics had the vibe. Atomic Heart may […]

Dublin Airport confirm major new improvements to both terminals amid liquid rule shake-up hint before record summer

OVER 121,000 passengers per day are expected to travel through Dublin Airport during the busy travel season.

Dublin Airport’s Operator, daa, expects that it will be a record-breaking summer for the bustling airport as over 10million passengers are expected to pass through from June to August.

Dublin Airport has announced new improvements to both terminals ahead of summer
Dublin Airport

This summer, passengers have more choices of travel destinations than before, as they now offer up to 190 destinations and more than 2,600 flights departing per week by 43 airlines.

The destinations cover up to 130 top destinations in Europe, while 60 destinations are international.

Due to the greater demands, the officials stated that they aim for at least 90 per cent of passengers to get through security screening in under 20 minutes, similar to last summer.

This came after DAA announced that the security staff had increased by more than 1,000.

However, the restrictions are different for liquids and technology for security screening at both terminals.

Terminal 1 requires tech and liquids to be taken out, while Terminal 2 requires passengers to keep their tech in luggage but take out liquids for scanning at security.

DAA CEO Kenny Jacobs revealed that the new ruling by the EU, which allows liquids to stay in the bags, is “very close” – meaning the restriction may be gone later this summer.

And there are changes to the terminals that will be underway to meet the demands, including more seating, water refill stations and food outlets.

A further 1,000 seats for passengers throughout the terminals have been added, including 420 new seats at boarding gates, over 100 comfortable dwell seats with charging facilities, 150 seats for People with Reduced Mobility, and 350 new seats in landside areas.

23 of the free water refill stations in both terminals have been replaced by new and improved units in time for summer.

ENTERTAINMENT AREAS

Three new kids’ entertainment areas have been added at Departure Gates in T1 and T2, bringing the total to five across both terminals.

A gaming zone for teens containing game consoles will be added later in the summer.

The Pet Relief room in Terminal 2 has been fully upgraded for passengers travelling with service and emotional support animals.

A second Pet Relief room is also being added on Pier 2 in Terminal 1 and will open later this year.

A new Dublin Airport app has been launched, which features real-time flight updates for arrivals and departures, security wait times and details about gate numbers and check-in areas.

There are also 15 new and improved outlets for passengers, including Arthur Guinness Bar, Pret A Manger, Boxx, Kimbok and The Garden Terrace in Terminal 1, which will be followed in mid-summer by the brand new San Marco Italian sit-down restaurant.

In Terminal 2, the newly opened Roasted Notes and Butler’s cafes will soon be joined by a new Irish bar and a wine bar called The Reserve (both airside).

Lastly, the Liffey Lounge and the Martello Lounge both fully revamped.

TRAVEL ADVICE

The DAA chiefs have issued travel advice for passengers ahead of the busy summer season.

Passengers are advised to be in their terminal two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before a long-haul flight.

They are also urged to check in with their airline when available to do so and see if night-before bag check-in is possible to reduce the waiting times at the airport.

For those who are driving to Dublin Airport, the advice is to book in advance due to demand.
