Man Utd odds SLASHED in Jamie Vardy next club market as Wrexham & Rangers trail

JAMIE VARDY is still on the lookout for his next challenge after quitting Leicester City.

And judging by the sustained support with the bookmakers, a move to MANCHESTER UNITED is looking ever more likely by the day!

Amongst his potential suitors is Manchester United, who have been slashed by the bookies to be Vardy’s next club

The 38-year-old has been linked with several clubs across Europe since he revealed he was quitting the Foxes.

A club legend – described by Leicester as ‘our greatest-ever player’ – Vardy leaves having scored 200 goals in 500 appearances for the side.

He also worked under 10 different managers in his 13 years at the King Power.

In a lengthy statement, he closed it off by saying: “It’s finally time to call it a day, which I’m devastated about it, but I think the timing it right.”

Vardy has been strongly linked with a move north of the border, with former boss Brendan Rodgers at Celtic before more concrete claims of interest from Rangers, who have recently been taken over.

GREAL DEAL

Everton shock new 'frontrunners' to sign Jack Grealish as Man City exit likely

A move to Serie A is the current frontrunner with BetVictor, priced at 9/4 to move to any club.

But without doubt the market mover in the Vardy next club market is for Manchester United, who were reportedly interested at the end of the January window.

Ruben Amorim is desperate for options up to, with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho on the way out and Rasmus Hojlund potentially exiting with them.

Only Everton and the three, poor relegated sides scored less goals than United in the Premier League last season.

They’re trying to resolve that issue, having splurged over £60million on Matheus Cunha and in advanced talks with Bryan Mbeumo.

Jamie Vardy's next club

Odds from BetVictor

  • Any Italian club 9/4
  • Manchester United 5/2
  • Wrexham 8/1
  • Crystal Palace 8/1
  • Sheffield Wednesday 8/1
  • Any Scottish club 8/1
  • Any MLS club 12/1
  • Leeds 12/1
  • Any Spanish club 20/1

So this move for Vardy on a free would be a much cheaper option to bolster the front line and likely be an attractive proposition for both parties.

Such is the incredible nature of this market, Championship new boys Wrexham come next at 8/1 third favourites.

The Hollywood-owned side were coined the ‘obvious transfer choice of the century’ for Vardy when he first revealed he was leaving Leicester but that seems to have cooled.

A switch to Scotland, Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday are all also 8/1.

Major Dublin city centre road to close for HOURS over weekend as motorists warn of diversions

A MAJOR Dublin city centre road is set to close for HOURS this weekend – with motorists warned of diversions.

Dublin City Council has alerted drivers about the temporary closure on their website.

Merrion Row street scene in Dublin, Ireland.
Merrion Row will be closed to traffic

Merrion Row in Dublin 2 will be temporarily closed this weekend to facilitate planned works.

The closure will take place from 9am to 6pm this Saturday 7th June and Sunday 8th June 2025.

And motorists are being warned that it will affect the stretch of Merrion Row between St. Stephen’s Green and Ely Place.

Dublin City Council stated: “Merrion Row (from St. Stephen’s Green to Ely Place), Dublin 2.

“Date – Saturday 7th June 2025 on Sunday 8th June 2025.”

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the duration of the closure and local access will be facilitated where possible from all closure points.

Traffic marshals will be on-site at the closure points to assist with traffic management and ensure access where needed.

For traffic arriving from Kildare Street, diversions will be in place via Molesworth Street, Frederick Street South, Nassau Street, Lincoln Place, Merrion Street Lower and Merrion Square West.

Southbound traffic from Kildare Street will be diverted along the R138 at St. Stephen’s Green, then via Hume Street to Ely Place.

Clear signage will be installed to direct motorists through the diversions and motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time over the weekend.

Dublin City Council added:“Pedestrian access will be facilitated at all times.”

Meanwhile, a drastic road rule change could be on the cards for Ireland with certain vehicles banned from busy routes.

TRACTORS BAN CALLS

It has been proposed that tractors and other “slow moving vehicles” be banned for Irish motorways.

The idea has come from the Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA) due to safety concerns being raised.

IRHA President Ger Hyland said that Ireland is “the only country in the EU” that allows tractors to be driven on the motorway.

The maximum motorway speed in Ireland is 120km/h.

But tractors can be driven on the same roads as long as it can travel at or maintain a speed of 50km/h, according to the Road Safety Authority (RSA).

Hyland said that if Ireland is serious about road safety, they must ban tractors from the fast moving roads.

The IRHA has claimed that many of their vehicles are getting stuck behind tractors and slow movers on the motorway.

This then leads to congestion and dangerous driving in attempts to overtake.

They have urged the government to work with the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) to keep tractors off the motorway.

Instead, they proposed that the vehicles be kept to regional and local roads.

The speed limit on regional roads is typically 80-100km/h, while on local roads it’s between 50-80km/h.

Watch the moment sunbed wars take place at iconic hotel used to film ITV’s Benidorm as Brits swarm the pool

A war over sunbeds is taking place at the hotel used to film the iconic ITV show Benidorm.

Sun-seeking Brits have been spotted queueing for up to two hours at the Spanish hotel to get themselves the most sought-after sun loungers.

Although there were plenty of sun beds to go round, Brits were keen to nab the best spots[/caption]

One holidaymaker filmed the incident from her balcony[/caption]

Sol Pelicano Ocas in Benidorm was transformed into the fictitious Solana Hotel for the 10 series of the fan-favourite TV show.

And now, the hotel is at the heart of a sunbed standoff between tan-happy holidaymakers.

Hotel guest Louise Smith couldn’t believe her eyes when she spotted fellow tourists queueing up to snag the best tanning spots.

And she was left completely flabbergasted when she spotted guests racing to the sun loungers as soon as the pool opened.

As shown in the popular TV show, which stars the likes of Johnny Vegas and Steve Pemberton, the hotel has a huge pool area, with plenty of spots for sun loungers.

However, some of the sun beds are better located than others, leaving Brits fighting over premium spots.

Louise captured footage of the bizarre incident, which occurred at 9am on May 27, from her hotel balcony.

“Mick would definitely have a few choice words for them,” Louise told Luxury Travel Daily, referencing Pemberton’s character in the show.

“I don’t think any of the characters would approve.

“People started queuing from 7:30am.

“I think it’s ridiculous.

“You go on holiday to relax, not to wake up super early to claim a sunbed.”

Fellow hotel guests were also left astounded by the sun bed frenzy.

Kelly-Ann Wass said: “I’ve been here for a week and gone down at 10am and always managed to get a bed.”

The Sun Travel team's holiday essentials

WITH decades of experience and hundreds of countries under their belt, the Sun Travel team have shared some of the essential items they always pack on a trip.

Here are some of the game-changing items we always pack – and some will barely cost you a thing.

  • Lisa Minot, Head of Travel – Global travel plug with USB (£64)
  • Caroline McGuire, Travel Editor – Hotel Slippers
  • Sophie Swietochowski, Assistant Travel Editor – Pack of 40 earplugs (£40)
  • Kara Godfrey, Deputy Travel Editor – 1 litre water bottle (£8.99)
  • Ryan Gray, Travel Reporter – Bluetooth eye mask (£16.50)
  • Giuli Graziano, Travel Writer – AirTag luggage location tracker (£29.99).

Jay added: “Wouldn’t call that a relaxing holiday fighting for sunbeds.”

Mo said: “This is not a holiday to me, get up and having to queue everyday, no thanks.”

The Sol Pelícanos Ocas has been approached for comment.

And the famed Benidorm hotel isn’t the only location that has been subject to sun bed wars.

Tourists in Playa de la Americas have been branded “miserable” for waiting by the pool before sunbeds were even laid out.

And one woman holidaying in Egypt revealed she was forced to get up at 6:30am to be in with a chance of snagging a sun bed.
