JON JONES has finally given clarity on his fighting future.

The former pound-for-pound king has ummed and ahhed with the prospect of retirement since his maiden defence of the heavyweight title last November.

But the former pound-for-pound king has finally hinted that he’ll vacate his heavyweight crown[/caption]

That’s despite the UFC brass meeting his demands to be paid “F**K YOU MONEY” for a mammoth unification bout with interim titleholder Tom Aspinall.

UFC supremo Dana White has faced a deluge of calls to strip Jones of his heavyweight crown and breathe new life into the stagnating division.

But Hall of Famer Jones has hinted that he’ll give up the belt before White and Co. bite the bullet and relieve him of it.

In an impromptu posting spree on X, Jones wrote: “I spoke to the UFC a long time ago about what my future plans were.

“I haven’t really worked out since my last fight in New York City.

“Honestly, I believe it’s been in the UFC’s best interest to keep presenting me as the company’s champion—not Tom.

“I’ve just been playing the role of the company man by doing nothing at all… and holding the position.

“And truthfully, it’s been incredibly lucrative. I’ve made more money off of Tom being the interim champ than Tom has himself.

“It sucks to see the rest of the division get slowed down like this, but that has nothing to do with me. I don’t pull the strings.

“And remember, you can’t strip a guy like me at this point. I give the belt up freely. Veni, vidi, vici.”

The MMA masses have accused Jones of “ducking” Aspinall, with several going as far as to say he’ll damage his legacy if he doesn’t fight the Brit.

But the former long-reigning light-heavyweight champion could care little about his detractors’ thoughts on his impact in the sport.

He said: “That’s the problem with some young men, you think your last outcome is your legacy.

“That’s why when many of you fall short, you can’t find the strength to return.

“But here’s the truth: your legacy isn’t your last move. Legacy is what no one can take from you.

You can’t strip a guy like me at this point. I give the belt up freely. Veni, vidi, vici.”

Jon Jones

“It’s built over time, not defined by a single win or loss.

“If you’re reading this, your legacy is far from over.

“We wake up each day with a chance to build, to add, to rise. Make yours beautiful.”

Fan favourite Aspinall has been sat twiddling his thumbs on the sidelines since his 60-second demolition of Curtis Blaydes last July.

The Wigan warrior has been frustrated by his inactivity, although SunSport understands an announcement for his next fight will be made imminently.

I own the ‘worst car in history’ that’s comically cheap from 80s but I LOVE it – I can’t wait for its dramatic comeback

Man standing beside his red 1980s car.
Allan Smyes

AN OWNER of a ridiculously cheap car from the 1980s considered to be the “worst in history” says he actually loves it.

The Yugo 45 was a small car that was built in the former Yugoslavia and picked up the unfortunate moniker over the years.

Allan says the interior is like a Caramac bar[/caption]

Allan Smyes, 50, picked up his model five years ago and is now hoping the vehicle will make a dramatic comeback as Yugo Automobile is set for a relaunch before the end of the decade.

Allan, who lives just outside York, is the proud owner of a 1988 Zastava Yugo 45.

The model was first available in 1981 and cost around £3,000 at the time.

It’s cheap price meant it undercut it main rivals like the Austin Mini Metro, Ford Fiesta and the Vauxhall Nova.

It was known for its low quality construction, safety concerns and reliability issues, making it the cheapest car between 1981 and 1991.

However, this affordability still did not enable the Yugo to become a successful or popular car for the long run.

In the initial years it was available in the UK, Zastava sold around 3,000 models every year, going on to sell tens of thousands, largely due to the low cost.

Around 794,428 Yugos in total were produced, but only a fraction of these were sold in Britain.

By 2018, just 19 remained on the road, according to official registrations data.

The car might not be such a rare sight on British roads for too much longer.

The return of the vehicle comes as part of a project by Serbian university professor, Dr Alekasandar Bjelić, who hopes to bring the car back to the market for 2027.

Dr Bjelić is linked to the automotive industry in Germany, and unveiled his 1:5-scale vision for what the Yugo could look like soon.

This new design for the Yugo was debuted at the Car Design Event 2025 in Munich.

It included stylish compact car features such as slim LED lights on the front and rear, along with large alloy wheels.

A fully working prototype of the new Yugo is expected to be shown at the Belgrade Expo in 2027.

On top of that, Bjelić said it would be initially sold as an “affordable” two-door model, adding that there is potential for “different body versions” to follow.

Affordability of the new Yugo is hoped to be facilitated by introducing the vehicle a petrol engine, and choice of manual or automatic gearboxes.

Yugo Automobile did add: “electrified versions are possible.”

The Zastava Yugo 45 has been branded the ‘worst car in history’[/caption]

With this project, Yugo are teasing a “fun-to-drive car” that “meets all relevant safety standards,” hinting it will use a shared platform borrowed from a “cooperation partner”.

Allan told This is Money: “It would be great if the name does return – I think it’s a brilliant idea.

“Look at what Renault has done recently with the 5. Even when they’ve turned it electric it’s been a huge success.

“The new Yugo could do the same. It looks really quirky and will be totally different to the cars on the market at the moment.”

Despite the car being branded as the “worst car in history” Allan still believes the car can be a success.

He said that if the vehicle manages to keep the same characteristics of the original then drivers will appreciate it as a cheap form of motoring, but added that will depend on just how well built it is.

Allan added that the car manages to attract lots of attention whenever he goes out in it, which he admitted isn’t that often.

He added that while you don’t see them on the roads anymore, everyone still remembers them and wants to tell him about friends or family who owned one.

Asked if the original Yugo warranted the dreadful reputation it had gained, he said that in the 1980s he probably would have agreed with that assessment but now that he was the owner of one he could appreciate it for what it is.

He said that the car offered a no frills, basic form of transport and that people expected too much from them.

Despite saying it was clunky and poorly built he said he still loved his model.

The interior décor of Allan’s car is caramel with him saying it looked like a Caramac bar, adding it’s “glorious but in an awful way”.

BADLY MADE

The Yugo was notoriously badly made with the bodykit simply riveted onto the bottom of the bumper, meaning that it flaps around if its picking up speed.

Not that it can go fast. Allan said it can reach 70mph at a push but it only has a four-speed gearbox.

Although he added while it’s comfortable doing 60mph it’s best not to go much faster and warned you wouldn’t want to hit anything.

UK imports of the car stopped in 1991 due to the start of the Yugoslav civil war, with dealers at the time offloading models for just £2,795, around £8,600 today.

By then it had become renowned for being rudimentary, poorly engineered and ugly.

Just how bad the car was, was outlined in the book “The Yugo: The Rise and Fall of the Worst Car in History” by Jason Vuic.

He wrote: “Six months after its American introduction in 1985, the Yugo had become a punch line; within a year, it was a staple of late-night comedy.”

Allan, who works in the motor trade buying and selling cars, is also a keen collector, preferring motors with a bit of a difference.

Among his collection is a Skoda Estelle, a couple of Metros, two Rover 75s, a Talbot Alpine, a Peugeot 106, a Vauxhall Cavalier and a Citroen BX.

In total, he said he had about 25 cars to his name but the Yugo remained one of his favourites.

Thanks to its basic design, if anything goes wrong he can fix it himself and so far, it has been reliable.

The plant is a great low-maintenance option this summer[/caption]

Amazon is selling a pack of three Hardy Geranium “Vision Violet” Large Plug Plants for as little as £15.

The product comes as a pack of three “plug plants” for potting, working out at a bargain £5 per plant.

The online retailer says the Geranium produces “masses of dark violet-pink flowers from June to October” and “the dark green leaves turn orange-red for Autumn”.

The description reads: “A new Geranium sanguineum hybrid and very worthy of a place in the family.

“It has shrubby, bushy growth with masses of dark violet-pink flowers all summer.

“It is very easy to grow, ultra hardy and makes great ground cover, whilst being very floriferous too.”

Hardy geraniums are low-maintenance and long-flowering perennials that can bloom for months from spring and need very little care.

Its recommended the geraniums be planted in any moist but well-drained soil.

The plants don’t require frequent watering, preferring low to moderate moisture and are generally drought-tolerant.

They thrive in the sun or in the shade and are fantastic for pollinators such as bees and hoverflies, say Gardeners World.

Some of them flower until the first frosts, providing a long season of nectar and pollen.

They need very little care and pests such as slugs, snails and even rabbits will eat other plants in preference.

What’s more is that they’re perfect for growing at the front of borders or in containers on the patio.

The geraniums can be cut right back to the ground after their first flush of flowers.

They’ll grow right back too, producing fresh foliage and more flowers in the same summer.

If you’re looking for other plants for your garden this summer, Aldi is set to launch a pretty £3 plant that flowers every week until September.

Their butterfly lavender can be yours for only £3.79 each from Thursday, June 12.

Not only will it brighten up your garden, but it’ll also fill the air with a sweet scent for months, attracting bees.

Lidl is also launching a new garden plant range with flowers starting from just £1.99.

The budget blooms start from just £1.99 and are already hitting the famous middle aisle, with more due to land in stores later this week – just in time for the sunny season.

From Friday, 7 June, shoppers can pick up gorgeous flowering plants that will brighten your outdoor space from late spring all the way through to autumn, meaning you’ll get plenty of bang for your buck.

The 5 best flowers to help bees to thrive

Nature experts at Faith In Nature have shared the 5 best flowers Brits can plant in their gardens to help bees thrive.

Rebecca Miller, Fabulous’ Associate Editor and keen gardener explains why “bees are brilliant”.

“They are vital. They pollinate our food and play a crucial role in our ecosystem. But climate change, the increasing use of pesticides and loss of habitat means bees are endangered. No matter how big your garden or outside space is, you can plant a flower or two to help bees.”

Lavender

Lavender can thrive in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. It’s fragrant and flowers all-summer-long meaning it’s a big hit with bees – especially bumble bees.

Sunflowers

This cheery flower giant are bee-magnets. And if you look closely at a sunflower head, the big ‘flowers’ are actually a cluster of small flowers, called an inflorescence which attract pollinators.

Ideally, grow sunflowers in groups to provide nectar and pollen for as many bees as possible. At the end of summer, collect the dried seeds from the sunflower heads to feed the birds or plant next year.

Heather

These abundant, bell-shaped blooms are brimming with nectar and pollen – which is good news for bees.

Cornflowers

A vivid blue wildflower, cornflowers are often planted alongside other meadow blooms, like ox-eye daisies and poppies.

They grow on tall stems and are packed with nectar, making them particularly attractive to bees. Cornflowers bloom for a long time and are simple to grow, so they’re perfect for first-time gardeners and experienced alike.

Crocuses (and snowdrops)

Later this summer, when you’re starting to plan for your Spring displays, consider crocuses and snowdrops.

They provide bees, such as the queen buff-tailed bumblebee and male hairy-footed flower bees, with vital early pollen as they emerge from their winter hibernation

I’m an interior designer – here’s the paint colour I’d never use in a small room, it shrinks the walls

WITH summer fast approaching, there has never been a more perfect time to give your home the refresh it’s been waiting for.

But figuring out what to do with each room, what colours to use, and how to make it a relaxing space can be tricky.

Property experts have said there is one colour they’d never use in a small room[/caption]

Dark grey could actually be sabotaging your interior without you realising[/caption]

Although it looks good on Pinterest, it’s not as nice in real life[/caption]

And it can be even harder when it comes to the rooms that are a little bit smaller than you would like.

When it comes to those rooms where there’s not a lot of space to work with, decorating them properly is even more important.

And experts have said that it’s all about the colour that you put on the walls, as this can massively impact the feel of the space.

Interior designer Terry Fisher of We Buy Any Home has said there is one colour that every homeowner should avoid using when painting a small room.

The property pro explained that it could actually be sabotaging your interiors without you even realising.

He revealed that dark grey should definitely be on the list of colours to avoid for your home.

It might look stylish on Pinterest, but in reality, it tends to suck the light out of a space – especially if there’s limited natural light to begin with

Terry FisherInterior designer of We Buy Any Home

And he added that it can make even a decent-sized space feel smaller, darker and more oppressive.

Terry said: “Dark grey is one of the worst colours you can choose for a small room.

“It might look stylish on Pinterest, but in reality, it tends to suck the light out of a space – especially if there’s limited natural light to begin with.

“People think it’ll make a room look moody and cosy, but what it actually does is shrink the walls, make ceilings feel lower, and highlight awkward shadows.

“It can end up feeling more like a storage cupboard than a snug.”

And it’s not just about looks – it could affect your home’s appeal, too.

He added: “Buyers often get their first impression from photos online.

“Rooms painted in deep grey can photograph poorly – they often look dull or cramped, even if they’re not in real life.

“That can put buyers off before they’ve even stepped through the door.”

Instead, Terry recommends sticking with light, neutral tones that bounce light around and make the space feel open and inviting.

He said: “You can’t go wrong with soft off-whites, pale greys with warm undertones, or even subtle pastel shades.

“They make rooms feel brighter and airier, which tricks the eye into thinking the space is bigger than it is.

The five colours that are becoming outdated in 2025

IT'S important to make sure that when you update your space, you create a look that won’t quickly become outdated.

With that in mind, interior designers have revealed the five colours that are beginning to fade now that we are halfway into 2025.

Interior pro Paulina Wojas from  Stunning Chairs has said that 2025 is all about creating warm, inviting places.

  1. Emerald Green – “While this colour is still loved for its luxe vibe, its declining popularity could be due to it being oversaturated”.
  2. Camel – “This could be due to Camel’s brown-yellow undertone that may be too warm for a clean aesthetic, and 2025 interior trends favouring more muted, earthy tones such as taupe and olive.”
  3. Burgundy “A prominent trend this year is open, airy spaces with organic elements, which could explain burgundy’s declining demand“.
  4. Scarlet Red – “While its vibrant hue is desirable for maximalist interiors, scarlet red’s intensity can become overpowering, resulting in colour fatigue.
  5. Teal – “While this aquatic shade is still desirable and perfect for coastal, Greek-inspired interiors, the low number of teal sales could be due to changing preferences and trends shifting towards warmer colour palettes.”

“If you want to add drama, do it through accessories – cushions, rugs, or one feature wall.

“But when it comes to the overall colour scheme, keep it light and simple in smaller rooms.”

The right paint shade can even make your home more sellable, and Terry says it could ensure you get a higher offer.

He added: “Most people want a space that feels clean, bright and easy to live in.

“And if your paint colour is putting buyers off or making a room feel smaller than it is, that could mean lower offers.

“Colour might seem like a personal choice – but when it comes to selling, it’s a strategic one too.”

Brit tennis sensation Hannah Klugman becomes first Brit female since Sue Barker 49 years ago to reach French Open final

SHOCKED Hannah Klugman will attempt to win a maiden Grand Slam on Saturday… aged 16.

The Kingston-upon-Thames schoolgirl is the first British player to reach the French Open juniors final in almost 50 years.

The 16-year-old battled through the semi-finals with a gritty 1-6 6-3 6-3 win over Bulgarian Rositsa Dencheva.

Michelle Tyler, now 66, claimed the girls’ title in Paris in 1976, the same year Sue Barker won the women’s senior event.

Klugman will face Austrian Lilli Tagger, 17, in Saturday’s final and she said: “I’m just a bit shocked to be honest.

“I wasn’t playing my best and I found it tough to get myself into the match.

“I felt like as soon as I did that I was in a good space and I thought I could do well if I got into the match.

“I think I’ve been mentally very good this week.

“I think I’m staying calm in big moments and also just trying to take it in.

“These moments don’t happen a lot, so trying to enjoy it is a big part.

“My coach and physio are basically saying: ‘Go out there and enjoy it.’ Because you never know if you’ll be in the spot again.”

Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski reached the final of the men’s doubles as they beat Americans Christian Harrison and Evan King 6-7 6-3 7-6 in a deciding-set tie-break.

They will meet Spaniard Marcel Granollers and Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos for the Championship but the last British winners on this trophy were Fred Perry and Pat Hughes in 1933.

Alfie Hewett beat Argentine Gustavo Fernández 6-4 4-6 7-6 to reach the wheelchair singles final – where he plays No.1 seed Tokito Oda – and he is trying to win a fourth title, a first since 2021.

I’m a beefy bodybuilder – the side effects are miserable & I’ve to bring my own sheets everywhere but it’s all worth it

IT took just weeks for dedicated Samantha Hauberte to transform herself into a professional bodybuilder after simply deciding to “try something new”.

The competitive 24-year-old, from Portlaoise, took part in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and grappling for 10 years before deciding to swap the mat for the weights room in search of a fresh challenge.

Samanta only started bodybuilding in February – and is already winning gold medals

She has represented Ireland at a number of top competitions

She said: “My friends and family were very shocked at how quickly I’ve changed but they all expected nothing less from me as they have seen how much work and dedication I had put into the sport.

“They are all extremely proud of me and have accepted my new lifestyle as it’s what I’m extremely passionate about.”

Samanta said it is an expensive sport to take part in with custom-made outfits and hotel stays costing thousands annually.

She added: “The prices for a custom-made outfit usually range from €350 to €700 in Ireland, but you can obviously buy one as well, which would be slightly cheaper depending on the bikini.

“But looking at overall expenses, you’re probably looking at €1,500 or €2,000 to do a show because you have to consider your registration, your stay at the hotel, your bikini, makeup, hair, tan and food.

“You need special high heels as well that we wear on stage so it’s not the cheapest sport but it’s the most rewarding sport you would ever do.”

And she told how she has to make sure she’s EXTRA prepared for heading away on trips to avoid any added costs.

She added: “So like let’s say if I had the show in Dublin, you’d usually book your hotel the night before and that’s when the base layer of tan gets put on.

“So this is why it’s important when I do stay in a hotel, I always bring spare bed sheets.

“I always have about three big suitcases for a trip because you don’t want to ruin the hotels, apartments, bed sheets that you have booked.

“You also bring your own towels, you bring all your food, I mean your weighing scales, your salt, chicken, rice, rice cakes… you bring everything with you.”

Samanta also admitted she’s had to make a lot of “sacrifices” to get ahead in the game – and has even suffered some side effects.

She said: “Most people that are close to me find my new lifestyle hard to understand as it is a very regimented way of living.

‘WEIGH OUT EVERY GRAM’

“It requires a high level of discipline and consistency meaning I have had to make a lot of sacrifices in order to succeed in the sport.

“I’m not able to go out for food and social events as I have to weigh out every single gram of food that goes into my body.

“I can’t spend as much time with friends and family as a lot of my time goes into food prep, the gym and making sure I get my step count done every day which is 12.5k steps, and then if I do have time I prioritise that for my recovery and rest.

“A couple of weeks before a show when you’re in prep has also led me to be more irritable and moody being around people so I like to spend more time on my own during that time.

“And then there’s the physical strain – my body being sore and losing my period due to having a low body fat percentage.

“But my coach Adam, who is the best at what he does, has made a reverse diet which has led me back to feeling strong, energised and I’ve got my period back.”

‘EYES ON ME’

And she revealed people look at her when she’s working out in the gym.

She said: “I always feel eyes on me in the gym especially when I was on prep as I just went in with my headphones on and got my workout done to the highest intensity and push that was needed to achieve my dream physique for the stage.”

And asked what reaction she gets from men in the gym, she said: “I’ll be honest with you, no random man has ever approached me in the gym so I suppose maybe they are intimidated by me just ever so slightly.”

Samanta, who believes consistency is the key to success, told how everyone thinks she’s been bodybuilding “for years”.

She said: “So my main background is Brazilian jiu-jitsu and grappling.

“I’ve been doing jiu-jitsu since I was 14 and I love the sport, but I just felt like I’d like to try a new sport and I don’t really like team sports. I never really liked football or hurling, I kind of like individual sports.

“I was always into the gym and I thought I’d give bodybuilding a try and I fell in love with it and I’m still doing it. I’ve done five shows now.

“I only properly started bodybuilding in February.

“Everyone thinks I’ve been doing this years but no I literally only started.

“And they’re like, ‘But you won four gold medals in the space of a month?’

“I’m just so dedicated to the sport and obviously you have to be very consistent in the gym and with your food.

“My coach would work out my meal plans for me, so I mean, like I’ve been so, you know, focused on it that I’d weigh everything out to the gram, so do you know, I never cheated with any of my food.”

‘AMAZING EXPERIENCE’

Samanta represented Ireland at PCA Universe last month and said it was an “amazing experience”.

She said: “So there were 30 affiliating countries in the competition. I obviously represented Ireland.

“Unfortunately that day because things were running long, I made a few mistakes.

“I had my four gold medals throughout the month and so I was like, ‘I have this’, but unfortunately I kind of messed up a little bit.

“I still placed in the top eight, and I got an invite then for another show in November, but first I’m focusing on doing another competition now on the 28th of September in Limerick.”

“But looking at overall expenses, you’re probably looking at €1,500 or €2,000 to do a show because you have to consider your registration, your stay at the hotel, your bikini, makeup, hair, tan and food.

Samanta Hauberte

Samanta, who was born in Latvia, said she has gained confidence from taking part in competitions.

She said: “It’s changed my whole outlook on things, I used to suffer with anxiety and I used to be self-conscious about myself or being anxious, like even going to the shop, but it has given me so much confidence.

“You can prove to yourself that you have such a strong mindset and to step out on stage in front of 100 people basically wearing nothing.

“We wear like a sparkly bikini going out and yeah just it’s changed my whole mindset completely.

“I’ve met so many amazing people along the way as well even though bodybuilding is a singular sport, it’s not really.

“The community is so big that you meet so many people that are like-minded that want to do well.”

The drivers and passengers were filmed yelling by an electrician watching from his van.

Two men – one dressed in a cream suit and one in a grey waistcoat – left their vehicles and walked towards another car.

A group of about five of the smartly-dressed men stood by a van on the road.

They confronted the driver by the window, gesturing angrily.

Meanwhile, the man filming was temporarily distracted by the “beautiful” cars next to him.

Around five of the luxury vehicles – including a bright blue matte one – were parked on the A406.

Traffic was at a standstill as the men argued in the middle of the busy road.

“That was drama,” the man filming said as he drove off.

He captioned the video “it’s all kicking off” and said in the footage: “What the hell, look at this guy.

“It’s all happening. Why is he shouting?

“He’s against all of them. They’re closing the road.”
