Spurs rejected by ex-Premier League boss and now considering raid on TWO London rivals in hunt for new manager

TOTTENHAM have been rejected by former Premier League boss Roberto De Zerbi, according to reports.

Spurs brutally sacked Ange Postecoglou last night – just two weeks after he lifted the Europa League to end the club’s 17-year trophy drought.

The club have been sounding out alternatives since the final in Bilbao and De Zerbi was approached.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano claims he rejected Spurs in favour of staying at Marseille.

De Zerbi quit Brighton after two years in the job last summer and then penned a three-year contract with the French giants.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank and Fulham manager Marco Silva are the leading candidates to replace Postecoglou.

Frank is the front-runner and he reportedly has a £10million release clause in his deal.

But reports from The I Paper suggest him moving from West to North London is far from done.

Brentford are ready to hear from Spurs but have so far not been contacted.

There is still a strong possibility Silva lands the job and his representatives have been spoken to.

Though Fulham are yet to receive a formal approach from Spurs.

Silva has shown an interest in working under Daniel Levy before and he came close to being appointed instead of Antonio Conte in 2023.

But Postecoglou’s replacement could be walking into a dressing room revolt at Spurs.

The Telegraph claim that a number of players are fuming over the decision to axe the Aussie and some now want to leave the club.

Ange Breaks Silence On Tottenham Sacking

ANGE Postecoglou issued a statement just moments after being axed.

It read: “When I reflect on my time as manager of Tottenham Hotspur, my overriding emotion is one of pride.

“The opportunity to lead one of England’s historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime.

“Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget.

“That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream.

“There were many challenges to overcome and plenty of noise that comes with trying to accomplish what many said was not possible.

“We have also laid the foundations that means this club should not have to wait 17 more years for their next success.

“I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them. I sincerely want to thank those who are the lifeblood of the club, the supporters.

“I know there were some difficult times, but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed and that gave me all the motivation I needed to push on.

“It’s important to acknowledge the hard working people at Spurs who gave me encouragement on a daily basis.

“And finally, I want to thank those who were with me every day for the last two years.

“A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club and the brilliant coaches who never once doubted we could do something special.

“We are forever connected. Audere est Facere.”

Gemma Collins ‘feels like she’s dying’ as she issues worrying new health update amid pneumonia battle

GEMMA Collins has said she “feels like she is dying” as she continues to battle viral pneumonia.

The TOWIE legend, 44, has been floored by the illness for nearly a month, but she’s still powering through with public appearances — despite feeling “really breathless” and completely drained of energy.

Gemma shared the shock health update with fans from her sickbed, posting a photo to Instagram showing her lying down while hooked up to a drip.

She wrote: “Hey guys sorry been quiet i have Pneumonia. I’m not as fast or on it as I usually am on the daily. I am still honouring my work commitments which is taking every bit of energy I have but will be back entertaining you all soon.”

She also revealed she’d been under medical care for weeks and was finding it hard to bounce back.

Giving an update, Gemma admitted that because the pneumonia is viral, she is unable to take antibiotics.

She told The Mirror: “I’ve been really short of breath and obviously I have work commitments that I would never not turn up to. I’m old-school, I would always fulfill my work commitments.”

Gemma confessed that she’s finding the ordeal, which has lasted almost a month, “shocking” and any respite she had from taking prescribed steroids has gone.

She explained: “It was DJ Fat Tony’s wedding and I had to take them to get through that, but I’m off them now and the sickness is really kicking back in.”

The star said she felt frustrated because she’s normally so full of energy. She finished: “…Now I get really breathless really quickly and I feel like I’m dying.”

The reality star hasn’t needed hospital treatment but says she’s relying on her doctor, who’s been checking in on her at home.

Despite doctors urging her to rest, Gemma’s still pushing on — though she admits it goes against her nature to slow down.

The TV personality confessed she has one job to do this weekend, which she’s determined to honour, and then will be able to relax for two weeks. She admitted that she hates taking time off and it makes her feel guilty.

Earlier this week, Gemma’s post was flooded with support from fans and celeb pals, including X Factor duo Jedward who wrote: “You giving us all so much energy and good vibes! Get your rest! Wouldn’t want anything to happen to you.”

Former EastEnders and Celebrity Big Brother star Danniella Westbrook also showed love, dropping a heart emoji in the comments.

Even as she battles the nasty lung infection, Gemma isn’t missing her latest event. Today (7th June) she’s teaming up with Trainline at King’s Cross to launch SlayStation: a glam pit stop designed to help partygoers kick off their big nights out in style.

Fans heading through the station will be treated to makeup, hair, and glow-up touch-ups from pros, with the GC herself fronting the fun.

Aldi selling £7.99 gadget that will keep your garden free of bugs and pests throughout summer

ALDI is launching a budget-friendly gadget this weekend that promises to keep bugs and pests at bay throughout the warmer months.

Available in stores across the UK from Sunday, June 8, the Zero In Bug Zapper Lantern is priced at just £7.99 — and it’s already catching the attention of bargain hunters.

The lantern kills nuisance flies and mosquitoes on contact, helping to create a bug-free zone ideal for BBQs, camping trips or even indoor use.

It’s designed for versatility, you can hang it up or stand it on any surface, and it works best in low-light conditions.

The gadget also features four built-in LED lights and comes complete with a USB rechargeable battery pack and charging cable, making it easy to power up for evening use.

Whether you’re enjoying a quiet evening on the patio or hosting friends and family for a garden gathering, this simple tool could make all the difference.

Aldi says the lantern is “perfect for outdoor living,” especially for those who want to enjoy summer evenings without being pestered by insects.

It’s part of Aldi’s wider push to offer low-cost garden essentials this season, with the budget supermarket regularly selling out of its Specialbuys aimed at outdoor living.

Shoppers have already snapped up Aldi’s £4.99 concrete citronella candle, which comes in a range of colours and shapes to suit any garden table.

It doubles as a stylish decoration while helping to keep bugs at bay.

Other garden deals from Aldi include anti-rust fencing panels, colourful planters, and solar-powered lighting, all priced to suit every pocket.

If you’re heading on a camping trip or caravan break this summer, the zapper’s portable design and rechargeable battery make it easy to take on the go.

And while most bug repellents rely on sprays or sticky traps, this zapper offers a cleaner alternative with no mess or harsh chemicals.

Aldi’s garden gadgets have built up a loyal fan base online, with shoppers often praising their affordability and ease of use.

The Zero In Bug Zapper Lantern is expected to sell fast, so those hoping to grab one should head to stores from Sunday before stock disappears.

It’s not the only budget option on the high street either, rival stores like Home Bargains and B&M are also offering low-cost pest solutions, from citronella torches to portable fire pits.

Keep pests out all summer

IF you want to ensure that your home is pest free this summer, here's what you need to know.

here’s what you need to know.

Hornets and wasps – hate the smell of peppermint oil so spraying this liberally around your patio or balcony can help to keep them at bay.

Moths – acidic household white vinegar is effective for deterring moths. Soak some kitchen roll in vinegar and leave it in your wardrobe as a deterrent.

Flying ants – herbs and spices, such as cinnamon, mint, chilli pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cloves, or garlic act as deterrents.

Mosquitoes – plants, herbs and essential oil fragrances can help deter mozzies inside and out. Try eucalyptus, lavender and lemongrass.

Holiday ATM warning that could leave holidaymakers without cash this summer

HOLIDAYMAKERS might end up without cash this summer if they are not aware of this banking feature.

Many travellers choose to withdraw cash at the ATM when they are abroad.

Getty
There is a limit on how much money you can take out from a cash machine abroad[/caption]

However many could be unaware that there is a limit to how much you can take out every day

The amount can vary so it is worth checking with your provider ahead of your travels to avoid being caught short.

Below we share how much money each high street bank lets you withdraw each day.

BARCLAYS

The bank of over 20 million Brits lets customers withdraw up to £300 per day when abroad.

This rises to £1000 for those with a premier account.

Barclays said customers have amended their cash limits in their Barclays app then these will apply when abroad as well.

That means if you set your withdrawal limit to £200, you will only be able to take this much out when you are abroad.

You will also be charged a 2.99% fee for withdrawing cash abroad with your Barclays debit card.

That means you would be charged an extra £2.99 for withdrawing £100 abroad.

The fee will also apply if you pay using your debit card.

Lloyds

Lloyds said customers can withdraw up to £800 per day when abroad.

However, it warned the amount you can take out may vary depending on which ATM you choose to withdraw cash from.

Lloyds customers are also charged a 2.99% fee for using their card abroad.

But Club Lloyds members have recently had this fee waived as part of changes to the scheme.

It now costs £5 per month to have a Club Lloyds account after the price was hiked from £3.

Halifax

Halifax is a subsidiary of Lloyds and also has a £800 maximum withdrawal fee.

Customers are also charged a 2.99% fee for using their card abroad.

But from August 1, Halifax Rewards customers will have this charge removed.

It comes as part of a refresh of the banking offer, which will see new features added and some taken away.

SANTANDER

The high street bank said the highest amount that customers can withdraw abroad is £300.

The same rate applies to customers withdrawing cash in the UK.

This applies to Santander customers using the Edge, Edge Up and Everyday current account.

However customers with a Private Current Account, which has a £5 monthly fee, the daily withdrawal limit can be up to £1,500.

Santander warned this may vary depending on the ATM.

NATWEST

NatWest has over 19 million users across the UK, making it another popular bank for customers.

How much you can withdraw from an ATM when abroad depends on what type of account you have.

For example, customers with a student, graduate savings and teen accounts have their limit set at £250 per day.

This increases to £300 for those with premium accounts such as NatWest Silver of Platinum, which offers rewards and travel insurance.

The bank also charges customers a 2.75% fee to use their debit card abroad.

NATIONWIDE

The bank, which has 17 million customers, said current account holders can withdraw up to £500 per day at an ATM abroad.

However, the bank warned overseas banks may put higher limits on transactions.

For safety purposes and customers may find they are only able to withdraw a sterling equivalent of £135 to £150 per transaction.

If customers are affected by this, they can make further withdrawals on the same day up to the accounts withdrawal limit.

Customers may be charged for their transactions.

Nationwide customers are charged a 2.75% fee to use their debit card abroad.

BEWARE OF THIS SIMPLE MISTAKE

If you are travelling abroad this summer you should also be aware of this easy ATM mistake that could cost you.

Cash machines will usually give you the option to pay in the local currency or in pounds.

It may seem like the obvious option to pay in pounds, as it’s more familiar and the currency linked to your card.

However, by choosing this option you could end up paying more for the cash coming out of the ATM or for the goods you’re paying for at the till.

That is because the overseas bank will do the conversion to pounds and the rates are unfavourable.

However, if you choose to pay in the local currency your card will instead do the conversion which is usually much more favourable.

So if you are keen to save cash when abroad, you should opt to pay in the local currency and not pounds.

Are there other options to for spending abroad?

There are several specialist cards that can give you a great exchange rate.

These cards include travel credit cards and pre-paid cards which can let you pay abroad without fees or at a set exchange rate.

Senior Consumer Reporter Olivia Marshall explains all the options.

Travel credit cards: Travel credit cards allow you to spend money abroad without being hit by any fees or hidden charges.

But, they may still charge you for taking cash out.

We recommend the Halifax’s Clarity Card as it won’t charge you for using it abroad, nor are there any fees for withdrawing cash.

But you will be charged interest if you don’t repay your balance in full at a rate of 19.9 per cent.

And you will be charged interest on cash withdrawals until your balance is paid off too, at a rate of between 19.9 and 27.95 per cent depending on your credit score.

In other words, just because you are using plastic abroad doesn’t mean you don’t have to pay these credit cards off like you normally would.

Always pay off your balance before the end of the month with these cards to make sure that any money you saved isn’t wiped away by paying interest.

For more on travel credit cards you can read our guide here.

Pre-paid cards: An alternative to carrying cash around is to get a pre-paid card.

These cards allow you to put a set amount of cash on the card at a fixed exchange rate.

So if the rate is good at the moment, you can put money on your card and it will stay that rate when you are on holiday.

Just keep in mind that these cards can sometimes have hidden costs and charges so be sure to read the small print.
