I chose to be homeless to save £1.5k on rent… my manager lets me sleep at work & I shower at the gym for £15 a month

A WOMAN has explained why she chose to be homeless after getting frustrated of forking out a fortune on rent.

TikToker Destinee told her 17.2k followers that she was tired of spending $2,000 (£1.5k) on rent and household bills.

After spending the first few days sleeping in her car, Destinee had a chat with her manager – and now sleeps at work[/caption]

Like a growing number of people, the woman first tried living in her car after leaving her flat – however, this didn’t last very long, as the vehicle completely ”broke down” on the first day of Destinee being homeless.

”I slept in that car for so many nights without air and heat.”

One day, she bravely admitted on TikTok, she couldn’t ”take it” anymore and approached her employer at work.

”I told my manager I was living in a broke-down car – and now I sleep at work,” she shared on a video.

Although Destinee hasn’t revealed what she does for work, she recently took footage of the small room where she allegedly spends most of her nights in.

The space features an extra long recliner which Destinee uses as a makeshift bed, as well as a lamp and a mini table for her to keep all her essentials on.

The young woman also spends just £15 every month on a gym membership to be able to have a shower, do her hair and make-up before work.

Self-care is not always aesthetic. Self-care is sometimes the small luxuries that make a difference.

”For me, that’s being able to take a hot shower at the gym and throw in my shower steamer,” Destinee said in an another clip.

Destinee, who collects her online orders from Amazon Pick-up locations, as well as her work, added that just because she doesn’t have a home doesn’t necessarily mean she doesn’t have money.

”I don’t eat out of the trash. In my office, I have access to a microwave,” said Destinee who also stores her food in the office fridge.

She went on: ”I usually use a meal-prep service. This week, I ordered spaghetti, garlic bread and corn, and it is another expense

”But to be honest, I am not paying rent, so I am not complaining.”

Destinee has also spilled the beans on what it’s like dating when you’re homeless and said she doesn’t usually reveal this fact until the second or third date.

What to do if you're made homeless

In England, your council must help if you’re legally homeless or will become homeless within the next 8 weeks.

You may be legally homeless if:

  • you’ve no legal right to live in accommodation anywhere in the world
  • you cannot get into your home, for example your landlord has locked you out
  • it’s not reasonable to stay in your home, for example you’re at risk of violence or abuse
  • you’re forced to live apart from your family or people you normally live with because there’s no suitable accommodation for you
  • you’re living in very poor conditions such as overcrowding

There are different types of support your council could offer you. For example, they may offer you advice, emergency housing, support to find longer-term housing or help so you can stay in your home.

If you are looking for advice you can contacting housing charity Shelter for advice, Citizen Legal Advice for a legal aid, and speak to your local council for help.

”It hasn’t been an issue so far. If you have a problem with me dating, just remember – I’m homeless by choice and unlike you, I don’t have any rent to pay.”

Although some social media users struggled to understand why she’d choose to be homeless and instead sleep at work, Destinee hit back and claimed having more money in her bank account is ”definitely worth it”.

‘You’re gonna be a millionaire’

Destinee’s video has since taken the internet by storm, winning her more than 2.5million views, over 2,300 comments and 90.9k likes.

Many flocked to share their thoughts and personal experiences, with one woman writing: ”I did the same thing for 4 years. honestly it’s not as bad as people may think.”

”You’re gonna be a millionaire,” thought another.

Someone else chimed in: ”Rent is definitely high nowadays, but I will pay anything to have my own space my own peace, my own sanitise bathroom.”

”My peace and stability would be worth the $1,980, but that’s just me,” a fourth agreed.

Love Island’s Chloe Burrows goes public with new boyfriend in first romance since Toby Aromolaran split

Chloe shot to fame on Love Island 2021, where she met her former flame Toby.

But after their painful split, she has moved on and is now dating a new man.

The season 7 star posted a picture on her Instagram Stories of her and Ruben.

Fans immediately took this to mean she was “soft launching” her new relationship.

Taking to Reddit, one wrote: “Love that for her. That’s literally so fun for the four of them as friends, hope it all works out!!”

While another said: “So happy for Chloe”

This one added: “This is great news.”

It’s understood Chloe met Ruben through fellow Love Island 2021 co-star Liam Reardon, as the two men are friends.

PAST LOVE

During her time in the villa, Chloe coupled up straight away with Toby and they stayed together throughout the show.

Toby and Chloe even made it to the final, but missed out on the crown to Millie Court and Liam Reardon.

The couple continued their romance outside of the villa, and did last for quite a while.

Not long after leaving the villa the couple moved in together, and they appeared to be going from strength.

They filled their social media with loved-up snaps, which included a romantic weekend away to Disneyland Paris.

However, their short-lived romance was plagued by split rumours, and in April 2022 the couple had reportedly been holding “crisis talks”.

The pair sparked fears amongst their fans when they went weeks without being pictured together.

An insider told The Sun at the time: “It was touch and go for Chloe and Toby just a few weeks ago.

“They’ve both been working really hard and were finding it difficult to make time for each other.

“It looked like they were going to call it a day, but after crisis talks have realised they’ve got something worth fighting for.”

Things didn’t get any better for Toby and Chloe, and the couple broke up in October 2022.

After their break up, a source told The Sun: “Chloe and Toby have decided to go their separate ways.

“They have grown apart and there’s no major hard feelings.

“Toby is currently staying with a friend while they work out what to do.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Toby said about the split: “At the end of the day it wasn’t a hard decision – once you’re having serious core problems, really and truly it’s done, isn’t it.

“It’s one of those ones, because it’s my relationship I don’t want to say what those issues were.

“I haven’t really said it out loud to anyone really and truly, it’s almost like I’m running from it. I run from it.”

CHEATING RUMOURS

During his time on Love Island All Stars, Toby has hinted TWICE that Chloe cheated on him, and that’s why they broke up.

The Islander left fans gobsmacked when he insisted he would never be unfaithful because he had been left scarred when someone else did it to him.

Visibly upset he told his fellow Islanders: “I don’t think I could do that to a person because I know how that can hurt.

“The consequences are still hitting me from the actions of someone else and that hurts. I feel like now I will be scarred going into every other relationship I go into.

“I don’t think I could ever do it, ever in my whole life.”

Luke Littler record smashed by former youth rival, 19, in incredible darts demolition

LUKE LITTLER’S record best average in the PDC Development Tour has been smashed by a 19-year-old.

The Nuke has taken darts by storm since his emergence in 2023 but could soon come up against some other young contenders.

Littler, 18, is considered one of the best at the oche at the moment and is the reigning world champion.

However, he will have to keep an eye on the new players that are coming through.

Charlie Manby, 19, pulled off an astonishing 130.70 average during his most recent PDC Development Tour victory.

He claimed a whitewash 4-0 win over Patrick Williams in a destructive manner.

Manby started the game with a 180 and won the opening leg in 13 darts – his worst effort in the match.

His second leg took him just ten darts while his next two were just 12 shots each.

His average bettered Littler’s previous record best on the tour before he joined the seniors.

The Warrington thrower’s highest average at the level was 115.22 which was back in 2023.

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS

This ranks as the seventh best in the tour records as three other players also broke the 120 mark.

Those were Bradley Brooks, Gert Nentjes, and Owen Bates.

Table of best development tour one-match averages by player and year.

It is the highest ever in the 15-year history of the development tournaments.

Manby still has a way to go if he is to completely usurp Littler’s record-best average.

In Littler’s run to become world champion, he recorded a set average of 140.91 against Ryan Meikle.

It was the best-ever average set at the tournament during an entire set.

Littler has already come face to face with Manby as they played each other at the Isle of Man Classic Youth In 2023.

They played each other in the final, and Littler dominated to a 5-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Littler suffered a disappointing night in the Premier League Darts last week.

In Dublin, the Nuke was dumped out by Gerwyn Price and tossed his darts to the ground in frustration.
