‘Second again, ole ole’ – Brutal West Ham fans taunt Arsenal with three cheeky chants after stunning the Emirates

WEST HAM fans gleefully mocked their Arsenal counterparts as their side delivered a Hammer blow to the Gunners’ fading title hopes.

Graham Potter‘s side conjured a brilliant performance to beat Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners’ defeat saw them remain eight points behind leaders Liverpool, with Arne Slot‘s men possessing an opportunity to make it 11 when they face Manchester City this afternoon.

After Jarrod Bowen‘s 44th minute header gave their side the lead, it was truly party time for the Hammers’ faithful in the away end.

With Arsenal having finished as runners-up in the last two seasons, and sitting in the same position at the moment, West Ham fans chanted: “Second again, ole ole.”

Hammers supporters also directed a pair of cheeky songs towards their former captain Declan Rice.

The West Ham academy graduate, 26, left the London Stadium for Arsenal in a £105million deal two summers ago.

He won the Europa Conference League as Hammers skipper, but is yet to win a major trophy with Arsenal.

As Rice went over to take a corner in front of the away end, they sang: “You should have signed for a big club.”

The song was repeated as Rice was replaced by Myles Lewis-Skelly, who was sent off just 17 minutes after coming on.

West Ham supporters also mocked their former captain with a chant bigging up this season’s cult hero Andy Irving.

They sang: “You’re just a s*** Andy Irving.”

After he was substituted, Rice looked furious as he sat on the bench.

West Ham’s win was just their second in seven games under new boss Potter.

They remain 16th in the Premier League table, but are only behind Manchester United on goal difference.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was left raging after his side’s defeat.

‘I AM VERY, VERY, VERY ANGRY’

He said: “I refuse that completely because I am talking about the standards of the players and the team that played today, me included, and that was nowhere near the levels that we have to hit to have the opportunity to win the Premier League.

“Very disappointed, obviously very angry as well. I think you have to congratulate West Ham for the victory and the game that they played.

“But there was a lot from our side that we never got right and didn’t allow us to get enough momentum, enough sequences of play with positive action that could deliver situations of threat for them.”

He went on to add: “So I am very, very, very angry.”

Arsenal will return to action on Wednesday night with a tricky trip to Nottingham Forest.

West Ham, meanwhile, will host Leicester 24 hours later.

Carla Ward describes her ‘welcome to international football’ moment during Ireland’s win against Turkey

A SPECIAL night — this is how Carla Ward described her baptism as Ireland manager.

But the new boss did admit to some pre-match nerves as she contemplated making the step up from club level.

Her side are next in action away to Slovenia on Tuesday at 5pm Irish time

The Girls in Green beat Turkey 1-0 in Tallaght Stadium on Friday night.

And Ward said: “In the WSL you know every single thing about every player, you know everything about everyone.

“This is slightly different. You never really know how it’s going to go.

“You want to get your first three points, but in the last ten, 15 minutes I was thinking, ‘Welcome to international football’.

“Scrappy, not pretty but what is most important is you get three points on the board.”

The points were secured thanks to forward Kyra Carusa, who scored the winner against Nations League rivals Turkey.

Former Aston Villa boss Ward — who replaced Eileen Gleeson in January — admitted said she was happy to get game No  1 under her belt.

She said: “It’s where I want to be, competing on the world stage. I’m delighted to be here.

“You want to make sure that those that employed you know they’ve made the right decision, whether that’s club or country.

“Look, ideally we would have got the second goal and it would have been a little bit more comfortable. I was just delighted to hear the final whistle, to be honest.”

The ex-Birmingham City and Sheffield United supremo will be looking for improvements ahead of Tuesday’s Group 2 game away to Slovenia.

She said: “This is a really strong group of players that are ambitious, that want to kick on.

“It won’t be all pats on the backs, it will be how can we make sure we’re better in every single area.

“Me being me, I’ll pick the life out of it and look at every single way we can improve.”

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland issued a recall alert, stating that one popular product had been pulled from the shelves after it was deemed unsafe.

They said that a batch of Horgans Irish Smoked Cheddar is being recalled due to “the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.”

The affected batch comes in a pack size of 150g with an approval number IE 1089 EC.

And it displays the use by date: 25/05/2025.

Dunnes Stores, SuperValu, Tesco Ireland and local supermarkets have removed the affected batches from sale and displayed recall notices at point-of-sale.

Customers are urged not to consume the products and return them to their point of purchase or dispose of them.

They can seek a replacement or a refund from their supermarket.

Consuming the affected batch may produce some symptoms of listeria, including mild flu-like symptoms or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications.

Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly.

The incubation period is, on average, 3 weeks but can range between 3 and 70 days.

This comes after Burren Smokehouse products are being recalled across the country due to the possible presence of listeria.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland issued recall alerts with two food products pulled from the shelves after they were deemed unsafe.

They said that batches of Burren Smokehouse organic hot smoked products are being recalled due to “the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes“.

The impacted products are Burren Smokehouse Smoked Irish Organic Salmon Hot Smoked Over Oak and Burren Smokehouse Organic Hot smoked over oak with honey, lemon & pepper.

The affected Burren Smokehouse Smoked Irish Organic Salmon Hot Smoked Over Oak batch numbers are 429721 and 52221.

The role has been recast, with actress Alice Haig taking over from previous star Scarlett Alice Johnson.

However, some EastEnders fans were more excited to learn that a star of two other huge shows will be joining as Vicki’s new partner, Ross.

Ross will be played by Alex Walkinshaw, who is best known to TV viewers as Dale ‘Smithy’ Smith in The Bill and Adrian ‘Fletch’ Fletcher in Casualty and Holby City.

Having also starred as PE teacher Jez Diamond in BBC school-based drama series Waterloo Road, fans think it’s long overdue that the actor join EastEnders.

Taking to X, one wrote: “Great to see @WalkinshawAlex finally in EastEnders.

“Always thought it likely once The Bill finished and of course he was then great in Waterloo Road, Casualty and Holby #EastEnders.”

Another added: “Alex Walkinshaw / Smithy from The Bill!!!!What great casting with various shows apart from The Bill he’s been involved with.”

A third tweeted: “Alex Walkinshaw is perfect for EastEnders. He was incredible in the Bill.”

Speaking of his role as newcomer Ross, Alex said: “I am really excited as I’ve had so many friends on EastEnders throughout the years, and I always hear lovely things about it.

“The show is top draw drama and I can’t wait to get stuck in. Ross is a decent, hardworking family man, he always puts family first, and he is very in love with Vicki, but it’s not always plain sailing.”

Vicki and Ross will be joined by his son Joel, played by newcomer Max Murray.

Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw said of the castings: “We’re delighted to have the very talented Alice, Alex and Max with us.

“Vicki is back under the most tragic of circumstances, representing her distraught mum Michelle, and she’s changed a lot since we last saw her.

“We’re excited to let viewers get reacquainted with Vicki and to introduce Ross and Joel to the Square.

“It won’t be long before Vicki and this new branch of the Fowler family are making waves in Walford.”
