You can visit top UK filming locations from Harry Potter to James Bond for 25p next month

YOU can visit a host of very famous filming locations from top TV shows and films, for as little as 25p with the National Lottery Open Week.

Kicking off on Saturday 15 March, hundreds of locations across the UK are taking a National Lottery Ticket as ‘payment’ for entry to a National Trust location.

How it works is that between the 15 and 23 March you can redeem free entry, or discounted entry at participating National Trust venues with a lottery ticket.

All you need to do is show a physical or digital lottery or scratch card at the entrance – and it works if you have an old ticket too.

For anyone who doesn’t enter the lottery regularly, you can buy the Prize Ball Red Instant Win game for just 25p.

Here are some of the National Trust locations that were used in iconic movies from James Bond to Sense and Sensibility.

Lyme

Found in Cheshire, Lyme offers some of most iconic scenes in film history. If I say Pride and Prejudice, you probably know already.

Starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, the 1995 production of Pride and Prejudice was filmed in various locations across the UK.

But for that very famous moment where Lizzie Bennet sees Mr Darcy emerge from the lake in what became a very see-through shirt.

The filmmakers visited Lyme in Cheshire, which is also cared for by the National Trust – and offers free entry with National Lottery Open Week.

Eden Project

The Eden Project is home to one of the biggest indoor rainforests and is known for its tropical climates – but not when it transformed into an ice palace.

For Pierce Brosnan’s Die Another Day in 2002, the Eden Project became a frozen landscape.

Pierce and Halle Berry‘s characters raced to defeat Gustav Graves in his ice palace.

Halle’s stunt double even climbed down the side of the Eden Project for the movie.

Saltram House

For any fan of the classic movies, Saltram House in Plymouth is like stepping into a Jane Austen story.

And it was in fact used to film the 1995 adaptation of Sense and Sensibility starring Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant and Kate Winslet.

Saltram House in Devon became Norland Park, the estate that must be given up by the Dashwood family.

With it being the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen, it’s the perfect time to step onto the set of one of her most famous novels.

Stowe

This incredibly grand Georgian house in Buckingham has more than 300 years of history behind it, and it’s been the backdrop for plenty of movies.

With sprawling gardens it’s no wonder movies picked it as the perfect spot. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, which was the third instalment, saw Indiana head to Stowe, which was dressed as the Reichstag.

The building appears as the Royal Academy Observatory in fantasy movie Stardust, and in the James Bond film The World is Not Enough which uses the grounds’ chapel for the funeral at the King family estate.

For this one, pick a sunny day as the National Lottery Open Week provides free entry to the gardens only.

Glencoe National Nature Reserve

Another trip to save for a sunny day is to the Glencoe National Nature reserve in Scotland – especially for Harry Potter fans.

Not only is the landscape beautiful, but it was also transformed to be part of the wizarding world for almost all of the Harry Potter films.

Most famously, it was the location for Hagrid’s hut which was specially built for filming.

Sadly, since the end of the franchise, the hut is no longer there, but you can easily find where it used to be if you pull into Clachaig Inn in Glencoe.

Just a 5-minute walk from the car park is the spot you’re looking for that overlooks the Torren Lochan and is next to Signal Rock forest.

Other honourable mentions go to the Tower of London, which is offering half-price entry with a lottery ticket.

It was used in the backdrop for Mary Poppins Returns and Spider-man: Far From Home.

There’s also Tredegar House in Newport which was the location for the British Army’s WWI base in northern France in Journey’s End starring Sam Claflin.

Three more TV locations to see for free

Here are some filming locations across the UK that won't cost you a penny to visit...

Gavin and Stacey came to an end over Christmas, but you can always keep the spirit alive with a trip to Barry.

If you head over to Trinity Street, you’ll find the homes of Gavin and Stacey, Gwen and Bryn. Plus, the Tadross Hotel five minutes down the road which doubled as The Dolphin.

For fans of Sex Education stay in Wales and head over to Wye Valley. Otis and Jean’s house is the most recognisable home which you can see with a walking trial.

In the village of Sydmonds Yat, there’s a pub called the Saracens Head Inn which is the perfect pit stop and has a great view of the river.

On the coast of Cornwall is the filming location for Beyond Paradise. Looe has the most beautiful beaches and harbour all used for the murder mystery series.

Martha’s restaurant, The Ten Miles Kitchen, is filmed in The Stables, Port Eliot House & Gardens cafe.

Simon Easterby’s wife reveals why Wales clash was ‘most stressful time’ as fans joke ‘breakfast must have been awkward’

SIMON EASTERBY’S wife revealed Ireland’s win over Wales was “the most stressful 80 minutes of my year”.

Sarra Elgan Rees, who is married to Easterby and is the daughter of former Wales and Lions star Elgan Rees, is a Welsh TV journalist.

She was working Wales vs Ireland on the TV

It means that, as the Boys in Green were running out 27-18 winners in Cardiff on Saturday, she was covering the game on the tele

The consequence on that dichotomy was on display when she posted a photo of herself at work ahead of kick-off to Instagram.

She said: “Wales v Ireland ……Genuinely the most stressful 80 mins of my year”

Fans made light of the conflicted loyalties in the comments, with one joking: “Breakfast might have been a bit awkward”

A second asked: “Did you congratulate your husband” while a third said: “Super game ,difficult when they play in your house but maybe today one that whole house happy with”

A fourth commented: “We were thinking of you in our house today. Emotional rollercoaster?”

And a fifth said: “Brilliant performance by Wales !! Ireland just had a better bench . Well done Simon !! Stressful afternoon for both of you”

Victory on Saturday means Ireland could be one win away from a third Six Nations in a row, and are two wins away from a second Grand Slam in three years.

Either achievement will be a first for Easterby, who is in interim charge of Ireland while Andy Farrell is on secondment to take over the British & Irish Lions for the summer tour of Australia.

They will face perhaps their staunchest task on March 8 when they welcome France to the Aviva Stadium.

And he said all focus is now on France in a fortnight and a win to move a step closer to a third successive Championship, and a game closer to a Grand Slam.

He said: “We would have certainly taken this a few weeks back.

“The mark of this group, the players in particular, they always want to get better and keep striving to chase down things which maybe other teams can’t do.

“That’s going to continue to drive the team over the next few weeks towards France.”

But he believes how Ireland won a hard fought game will now stand to them.

He added: “Getting a result in very different circumstances to when we played Scotland and the home game against England means we keep building the experiences

“Building those experiences for players, playing in the Millennium Stadium with the roof closed…

“The third game of a Six Nations where everything is probably against the team you’re playing against, and then we come out and get a result like that.

“That’s exactly what we are trying to do all the time.”

A MAFS groom has slammed the show after the reunion, declaring that he’s “got his life back now.”

He and Erica Roberts shared a kiss, five months after his split from TV wife Kristina Goodsell, after he visited her in Edinburgh.

Earlier in the episode Erica gleefully said: “Kieran came up to Edinburgh, he stayed at mine the night we had a kiss.”

She insisted: “I’m not a dirty little secret.”

Kieran has now appeared on his Instagram stories while at work, appearing to slam the show.

In a video, he could be heard saying: “I tell you what like, I’m over the f****** moon that that is all finished with.

“I can actually crack on with my life now, and people won’t be outing us for stuff that I haven’t even done.”

He added: “Honestly, do I recommend going on Married At First Sight?”

Kieran then went: “Hmmm,” and looked to the side disapprovingly.

On Monday night, as the arrivals began speculating on who was going to turn up next, Kieran began to panic and said: “I didn’t know Erica was going to be here and I haven’t told Kristina yet.”

She picked up on his uncomfortable body language after an awkward introduction and said: “He’s acting really awkward now, but he wasn’t acting awkward at my house.”

As the night dragged on and Kieran maintained his silence, and Erica began to get frustrated.

Right on cue, the Honesty Box appeared on the table.

Erica took the opportunity to put Kieran on the spot and asked if there was anything he wanted to tell Kristina.

Gutted Kristina said to camera: “I feel like a bit of a nob, Erica’s been kissing my ex-husband.”

At the table, she held it together well, telling him: “Kieran, whose tongue you have in your mouth is none of my business.

“Erica, I hope you haven’t got a cold sore now.”

Viewers weren’t happy with Erica throughout the episode, with one writing on X: “Erica it’s not your business to tell her. You weren’t even in their season.”

Another said: “Erica is being a big attention seeker.”

A third said: “Ok Erica trying to have a moment.”
