Former UCD ace Dylan Duffy joins Chesterfield on loan from Lincoln City until end of season
DYLAN DUFFY has joined Chesterfield on loan until the end of the season.
Duffy, 22, has made 49 League One appearances, scoring three times, for the Imps since joining from UCD in 2022.
But he will now aim to help the Spireites, managed by ex-Sligo Rovers boss Paul Cook, out of League Two.
Lincoln director of football Jez George said: “This is a really good option for Dylan to play a number of back-to-back games between now and the end of the season.
“For various reasons, Dylan hasn’t been able to get regular starts this season, so this opportunity is crucial for his development.
“Paul Cook is an excellent manager, knows how to set up a team and really wants Dylan, so that has been a big factor in the decision.
“Chesterfield are chasing a play-off place so they have everything to play for and Paul has a track-record of getting teams promoted.
“So, we look forward to seeing Dylan’s progress over the remainder of this season and hopefully contribute to their success.”
Elsewhere, Finn Harps have signed former Ireland youth international Dara McGuinness.
Westmeath native McGuinness, 20, joins having spent the past two-and-a-half years with Stoke City.
The striker got his first taste of senior football in the Leinster Senior Cup for St Pat’s in 2019 and featured twice for Shamrock Rovers II in the First Division the following season.
But the disbandment of their second string saw his first-team opportunities dry up before a move to Stoke City in the summer of 2022.
Man pleads guilty to careless driving after causing ‘serious bodily harm’ to Irish rugby ace’s dad in tractor crash
A MAN who drove a tractor and trailer in a careless fashion causing “serious bodily harm” to the father of Ireland rugby legend Conor Murray was remanded on bail for sentence.
Seamus Hanrahan, 53, of Kilmore, Granagh, Co Limerick, admitted the offence before Limerick Circuit Criminal Court.
Gerry Murray, 70, Patrickswell, Co Limerick, was cycling along the N20 when he was struck by Mr Hanrahan driving the agricultural vehicle, on February 7, 2023.
Mr Murray, married to former Irish international squash player, Barbara Murray, suffered a brain bleed following the collision and was placed in an induced coma by doctors to try to bring him back from the brink.
Mr Murray was placed in intensive care at Cork University Hospital.
He has since been discharged from the hospital but continues to suffer a number of ongoing medical issues arising out of his injuries.
Lily Buckley, prosecuting barrister, said Mr Hanrahan made an “early plea” in the case, and that he “was looking for time to make (personal) arrangements” ahead of his sentencing date.
Mr Hanrahan has pleaded guilty to one count of careless driving causing serious bodily harm, at Attyflin, Patrickswell, while he was driving a DAF x2 tractor unit, which was coupled to a tanker semi-trailer, without due care and attention.
Mr Hanrahan’s barrister, Amy Nix, said she was “awaiting a psychological report” in respect of the defendant, and they were waiting for a date for sentencing hearing.
Judge Colin Daly remanded Mr Hanrahan on bail for sentence on April 7.
Speaking after his discharge from hospital, Mr Murray, whose son Conor lines out for Munster and Ireland, revealed he had to learn how to walk again through a gruelling physiotherapy programme.
He said that he still suffered with painful “nerve damage” in his right hand as well as poor mobility, and “permanent” deafness in his left ear.
‘LONG ROAD AHEAD’
Mr Murray said: “The doctors told me that I’m looking at a minimum of a year to recover from that type of a head injury, I have a long road ahead of me.”
Heartbreaking moment Love Island All Star Tina breaks down in tears and storms out of row with Scott
LOVE Island All Stars’ Tina Stinnes has broken down in tears during a tense row with Scott Thomas.
Tina, 29, came to blows with Scott, 36, and stormed off following the biggest row to rock this year’s villa so far.
Tina Stinnes gets tearful during a row with Scott Thomas[/caption] Scott tells Tina he is ‘worried they’re not in the same place’[/caption] Tina announces that she’s ‘going to withdraw’[/caption] The furious star then storms off[/caption]Tempers flared during a game of Truth Or Dare when Scott made a cryptic comment about Grace Jackson, 26.
Scott said he had a truth he wanted to ask Grace – who is coupled up with Luca Bish – but said he “didn’t want to say” it aloud.
Luca, 25, snapped before announcing minutes later that Scott had said he’s “not feeling it now” with Tina.
Tina began to cry before walking off and raging in the girls’ dressing room.
In a sneak peek of tonight’s episode (Monday), things go from bad to worse for Tina and Scott.
Pulling her for a chat on a couple of beanbag chairs, Scott tells her: “By the way, what he’s just said has been completely, like….”
Tina interrupts: “Well, I’ve just got told you wanted to tell me this today.”
Scott replies: “I said to the boys tonight, basically, I love spending time with you, we vibe, but I wanted to say to you tonight that I’m worried I’m not fully in the same place you’re at.”
Wiping her eyes, Tina coldly says: “Cool.”
Scott continues: “That’s all it was going to be.”
With her emotions running high, Tina tearfully shoots back: “I’m p***ed off!
“Like I’m just annoyed. I need to process all this s***.
“And now I’m going to withdraw. I’m going to withdraw myself.”
Tina then stands up and storms off, leaving Scott sitting on his beanbag alone.
The tension reached fever pitch on Sunday night when Scott accused Luca of stirring the pot during a group challenge, which quickly escalated into a shouting match.
The gang were enjoying a Las Vegas-themed evening when it all kicked off during a roulette game of Truth Or Dare.
It landed on a truth for Grace, to which Scott muttered that he had one before refusing to say it ‘out of respect’ for Luca.
Luca instantly became annoyed and said: “Say it. If you want to go there, go there?”
Scott insisted: “Bro I’m being respectful to you.”

He kissed Scott on the cheek, saying he thinks he wants to get far in the villa.
