Worrying moment marshal stumbles to ground after Shane Lowry hits him with drive as fans say ‘please check on that guy’
A GOLF marshal stumbled to the ground in worrying scenes after being hit by a Shane Lowry drive.
The Irish golfer was teeing it up at Pebble Beach this weekend in the AT&T Pro-Am.
Shane Lowry struck a marshal with a wayward drive at Pebble Beach[/caption] The ball ricocheted straight off the top of the volunteer’s head[/caption]He was in the final pairing alongside compatriot and close pal Rory McIlroy in California after both men hit holes-in-one this week.
But things took a nasty turn on the par-four 15th hole during the final round on Sunday.
Ryder Cup hero Lowry, 37, sliced his wayward tee shot with the driver.
As it curved out to the right, the ball cannoned directly off the head of an unsuspecting marshal standing in the rough.
The course attendant immediately clutched their head and doubled over.
They then fell to the turf in clear agony after the horror hit.
Commentator Andrew Coltart criticised Lowry for seemingly failing to warn the marshal.
Coltart said on Sky Sports: “Oh dear.

“Didn’t hear him shout ‘fore’. We need to be hearing players shout ‘fore’.”
Reports on social media suggested the volunteer was not badly hurt and was “doing fine”.
It was also claimed Pebble Beach gave him a free weekend stay at the resort with three free rounds of golf for him and three friends as a classy gesture of goodwill.
Lowry salvaged a par and added birdies on the 16th and 18th to shoot a four-under-par 68 and finish the famous tournament at the iconic course on -19.
McIlroy, however, held off his mate’s challenge to win by two strokes.
It was the first Pebble Beach title for the world No3, 35, who celebrated by Facetiming his wife Erica and daughter Poppy, four – who was more interested in her bubble bath.
Justin Rose finished T3 with Lucas Glover on an impressive weekend in the PGA Tour event for the Europeans.
Scottie Scheffler was six shots adrift on -15 in T9 as he kickstarted his 2025 season following hand surgery from a freak Christmas injury.

BURNLEY have announced their latest signing with an iconic clip from TV show Friends.
The Clarets have become masters of transfer announcements in recent years and the media team has produced a stroke of genius.
New addition Marcus Edwards replaced Jennifer Aniston in the video[/caption] The former Spurs winger has joined on loan until the end of the season[/caption]Burnley announced the addition of former Tottenham star Marcus Edwards from Sporting Lisbon.
The winger has joined on loan until the end of the season and the Championship side took advantage of the fact they were signing a player from abroad.
Burnley pinched an iconic clip from the last episode of Friends where Ross listens to a voicemail on his answering machine from Rachel – only instead of Jennifer Anniston’s voice it played lines from club chiefs including chairman Alan Pace.
It begins with bad news for Ross listening in, whose lines sync perfectly with the comments from the Burnley bosses.
The video ends with Ross asking: “Did you get off the plane?” to the potential signing.
He then turns around to see newboy Edwards standing in his apartment rather than Rachel, with the winger saying: “I got off the plane” before saluting Ross.
Audience applause is heard in the background as Edwards says: “Up the Clarets.”
After putting pen to paper, the 26-year-old said: “It feels amazing. Burnley is like a Premier League club. I’m really happy to be here.

TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: STAY UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE LATEST MOVES FROM THE JANUARY WINDOW
“I know Scott from my time at Spurs. I know what he’s like. He’s ambitious, he’s driven. We had a good relationship back then so when I knew he wanted me to come that was enough for me.
“From knowing what he’s like and how he is and the fact that Burnley is such a big club in general. It made sense.
“The main thing now is to get promoted back to the Premier League. I’m coming here to try and get myself into the team. I hope we can make it over the line this season and I hope Burnley fans will enjoy watching me play too.”
Fans loved the announcement with one saying: “Nah they’ve gone and done it again”
Another added: “Absolutely incredible. Bravo ”
And a third wrote: “This media team deserves the player announcement’odor .”
Former Republic of Ireland youth international Ali Reghba joins Slovenian giants NK Maribor on two-and-a-half-year deal
ALI REGHBA has joined Slovenia’s most successful club, NK Maribor.
The 25-year-old Dubliner moves to Maribor – who lie second in the table – on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The ex-Ireland youth international had caught the eye for Rabotnicki in Macedonia, scoring seven times and providing five assists in 11 games before the mid-season break.
Slovenia will be the fourth country in which the forward has plied his trade.
After impressing for Bohemians, he was snapped up by Leicester City in July 2019 where he lined out for their Under-21 side.
Three years ago, he joined CR Belouizdad in Algeria, his father’s home country, before linking up with Rabotnicki a year ago.
Maribor have won a record 14 titles and Reghba said: “Moving to Maribor is an exciting chapter in my life, I’m very happy to be here.
“When I heard about Maribor’s interest, I had no doubts. I know that I’m coming to a club with a rich history, but also a club that competes for big things and fights for trophies.
“It’s an important step in my career and I’m excited about the new challenge.”
Reghba had been expected to join Serbian side TSC Backa Topola but opted for Maribor after watching them in action against Domžale on Saturday.
He added: “This has only reinforced the realisation that I will be part of a team that plays attacking football, with possession and dominance on the field.
“As a direct player who likes to create chances, I think I could fit in successfully. I try to find situations where I can be a threat to the opponents’ goal and help my team in that way.
“I like to give the fans what they want – goals and assists. I believe that I can become an important part of the team and contribute my share.
“During my career, I have learned about different leagues, from Irish, English, Algerian and Macedonian. In doing so, I have also learned how to adapt quickly to new environments.
“I hope that I will be able to do this in the shortest possible time in Maribor and that we will be extremely successful together.”
Kate shares picture taken by Louis, 6, to mark World Cancer Day & shares message about ‘what lies beyond the disease’
A PICTURE of Princess Kate taken by six-year-old Prince Louis has been shared by the Princess to mark World Cancer Day.
The sweet image – showing Kate beaming in a forest in Windsor with her arms spread wide – was shared along with a sweet message about ‘what lies beyond the disease’.
A second image taken by the Princess showed leaves covered in frost.
Kate’s message read: “Don’t forget to nurture all that which lies beyond the disease. C”
It is the first ever image taken by Louis that has been released to the general public.
Kate is a keen amateur photographer who has previously shared photos of her children for significant celebrations.
Tagging the World Cancer Day account, the post has been shared just hours before the official day.
It follows the Princess joining families last week as she got stuck in with the brave children affected by the illness.
During her visit to a children’s hospice in Wales, the Princess of Wales visited Tŷ Hafan’s hospice in Sully, near Cardiff.
She spent time with children, families and staff.
The 43-year-old has been appointed as its new patron, a position previously held by Princess Diana in its fundraising stage.
It was also the Princess’ first engagement in wales since her diagnosis.
Kate played with eight children during the visit and was also pictured painting a hand print on the wall.
She spoke to four parents who have tragically lost children.
Walking into the room where children were entertained by a guitarist, she said: “This is very vibrant.”
Smiling Kate crouched down to speak to Dani-Rae, 3, and asked: “What do you like doing here? Are you having a good time? Are you singing songs?
She shook some maracas and asked: “Do you like playing any instruments?”
The first patronage Kate ever took on was East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice (EACH) and she maintains a close relationship with the organisation to this day.

THE UK’s National Poo Museum is closing for the rest of the year… but there is some hope of seeing the exhibits.
Located inside the disused Sandown Barrack Battery fort on the Isle of Wight, the museum first opened to the public in 2016.
The National Poo Museum in the Isle of Wight will close for an entire year to go on a UK-wide tour[/caption] The quirky museum was the brainchild of former plumber Daniel Roberts[/caption]The quirky museum was the brainchild of former plumber Daniel Roberts, who started the tiny museum as an exhibition at the Isle of Wight Zoo.
Faeces samples were gathered, along with donations from Isle of Wight Zoo and Dinosaur Isle Museum.
The samples were displayed in resin spheres after being prepped for the museum using a specially-built drying machine.
Following on from its initial success, the National Poo Museum opened in a former public toilet near Sandown Bay two years later, in 2018.
It now displays samples from around the world and has other features too, including a window frame displaying various specimens from the British Isle.
In a bid to break yet more taboos, the tiny museum is gearing up for a UK-wide tour.
According to its website, the touring exhibition will feature an illuminated aquarium with yet more preserved number twos.
Faeces samples have been collected for the aquarium from a midwife, a policeman, a baby, an artist and a Cambridge scientist.
Each of the samples has been frozen and set in resin before being dropped into a water tank.
Earlier this year, Daniel told the Sun Newspaper what to expect from the aquarium, he said: “We’ve preserved them in clear resin spheres in a glass tank.
“It’s interactive, people can circulate around and can press buttons and control how fast the poo spins, and change the lighting and add bubbles.
“Each poo has a QR code and they can scan them as they go past and see scientific papers or funny songs, or facts”.
The tour will begin in the Isle of Wight, with the exhibition appearing in local libraries.
However, further tour dates and locations have yet to be revealed.
Director Nigel George told the Isle of Wight Observer: “Since we moved to the Battery, we can’t keep up with demand.
“It’s a small museum and, most days during the school holidays, there are large queues going right down the road.”
We have been a victim of our own success
“Basically, we have been a victim of our own success. We now want to get the museum on the road and we have been in discussions with three interested organisations, one on the island and two on the mainland.”
The unusual museum has a 4.5/5 star rating on TripAdvisor from just over 100 reviews.
One person wrote: “I went to the museum with my two grandchildren who absolutely loved it.
“The staff were very friendly and helpful taking their time to explain to my grandchildren all of the interesting articles that they had on show.”
Another person added: “This place is a little gem. It doesn’t take long to go around but it is fascinating.”
A third reviewed: “Simply, informative, fascinating, and well run”.
