Royal family’s most memorable wardrobe mishaps – from Kate wearing her top backwards to Zara’s car mishap

THE royal family are known for their elegant style and impeccable etiquette but sometimes it doesn’t always go according to plan.

Zara Tindall, who is often hailed as the most relatable royal, recently had a mishap with her dress during her recent visit to Australia.

Princess Anne’s daughter was seen in a promotional video for Gold Coast’s Pacific Fair shopping centre wearing a Scanlan Theodore floral maxi dress.

However, as she arrived at the mall in a black SUV, the hem of her dress accidentally got caught in the passenger door.

And it’s not the only time the royals have suffered a wardrobe malfunction during a public outing.

From tags left on outfits to the wind causing havoc with dresses, here are the down-to-earth moments which remind us the royals are just human at the end of the day…

In October 2018 during the final day of her New Zealand tour, the Duchess of Sussex wore a gorgeous pleated skirt by Givenchy.

However, her outfit was a lot more revealing than she may have anticipated as it proved to be completely sheer in certain lighting.

Luckily she had a pair of rather large knickers on underneath, saving her from any further embarrassment.

These days sheer has become quite a trend, so maybe she was just ahead of the curve.

While visiting New Dehli, India, and honouring the 70,000 soldiers who died fighting for the British Army, Kate battled with the breezy weather.

During a wreath-laying at India Gate, a sudden gust of wind caught her gorgeous £2.4k dress.

Kate tried her best to keep her composure and struggled to control the white frock.

Only the Princess of Wales could wear a designer top backwards and it looks better than before.

We previously saw Kate put her unique spin on a Gucci silk crepe blouse in a gorgeous purple shade.

While the buttons were supposed to be worn down the back, Kate opted to wear them in front, creating a new look.

Fergie’s hat

Sarah, Duchess of York, found out exactly what can go wrong when you are wearing a hat in strong winds.

In 1989, Fergie was preparing to board a flight to Canada with Prince Andrew, when the black accessory blew away.

Thankfully, Sarah handled the situation well and it became a humourous part of the official tour.

The Princess of Wales even looked elegant as she had a heely bad footwear fail[/caption]

Just like the rest of us, Princess Kate isn’t immune to the odd heel footwear fail.

During a visit to an addiction centre in Essex, the down-to-earth royal was left in hysterics after her heel got caught in a metal grate.

Despite the mini blunder, Kate remained calm and collected, as staff watched her skillfully weave the heel out – all while heavily pregnant.

After shrugging off the slightly embarrassing moment, the Princess carried on with her royal duties wearing a posh £660 coat.

Kate’s non-slip tights could be seen in her stiletto shoes[/caption]

Kate spends hours on her feet in stilettos but has a very handy trick for ensuring that she never slips out her shoes.

A few years ago, the royal mum-of-three accidentally revealed sticky pads inside her shoes, which helped to secure her inside her heels – genius!

And the best part is that the product won’t break the bank.

You can buy the must-have, non-slip tights from John Lewis for just £7, and they come in nude, black or natural shades.

Meghan’s tag

Meghan’s dress tag was clearly on show at the bottom[/caption]

One fashion mishap Meghan suffered onTonga tour in 2018 was when she stepped out in a red Self-Portrait dress.

While the dress may have been lovely on, she forgot one key detail – the tag, which read: “Returns will only be accepted if this tag remains attached.”

Sticking out at the bottom of the dress it was visible for all to see, if she wanted to return to the store after she might have tried to hide it a bit better.

He may be the future King, but even Prince William seemingly wears shoes with a hole in on occasion.

During his 2019 interview with Sir David Attenborough at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, he crossed his leg and exposed one of his soles.

The shoe appeared heavily worn, but some fans speculated that it could have been a piece of black tape.

Prince Harry also had his own holey shoe as he attended the wedding of pal Charlie van Straubenzee in 2018.

It didn’t ruin the day, however, as Harry charmed guests with this best man speech, as he was accompanied by Meghan in a Club Monaco dress.

Camilla’s skirt

Queen Camilla experienced her own Marilyn Monroe moment and she struggled to keep her Bruce Oldfield skirt down at Princess Charlotte’s christening in 2015.

The wife of King Charles unfortunately got caught by a large gust of wind as she turned up at the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham.

Clutching onto her hat, she successfully maintained her dignity – just – and laughed off the incident as she greeted the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Queen’s stained dress

The late Queen always looked pristine during royal events, apart from one uncharacteristic soiree.

In 2010, the monarch was attending the 70th birthday of King Constantine of Greece, in London, and her pastel dress was photographed stained with food.

The Daily Mail later claimed it was a “coffee spillage” done by a member of the waiting staff.

In addition to her dress, her glittery bag was seen with a broken strap.

The late Princess Diana was known as a fashion icon around the world, and many people still copy her iconic looks.

However, they may think twice about wearing a skirt that Diana was photographed in during 1981.

During a photoshoot at the nursery she worked in, the sun came out midway through, making her skirt appear see-through.

Diana, who was 19 at the time, was said to be horrified.

Kate Middleton's love of recycling clothes

KATE Middleton might be a Princess, but that certainly doesn't stop her from rewearing her favourite frocks.

Jenny Packham Gown: She first worn the frock to an ARK Gala Dinner in June 2011, and then rewore it three years later to the National Portrait Gallery in February 2014.

Alexander McQueen Coat Dress: Kate donned the beautiful number for Trooping the Colour in June 2016 and then just a year later, was spotted in it again for the Easter Service, in April 2017.

Temperley London Dress: She first wore the black lace dress at the War Horse Premiere, in January 2012, but then, just months later, donned it again, at the St. Andrews University Gala, in December 2012.

Hobbs Coat: Even Kate is a fan of a staple coat, as she’s reworn a classic number from Hobbs, which she first wore on Christmas Day in December 2012, and then again on a visit to Newcastle, in October 2013.

Kate Middleton’s sartorial choices continue to inspire many, proving that elegance and sustainability can go hand in hand.

But they split just weeks later and last night it was revealed Samie has stormed the villa to turn some heads.

Speaking after their split, Tom – who won last year’s All Stars with Molly Smith – admitted it would be difficult to see Samie after “things were said”.

He confessed: “We haven’t seen each other in a long time and things have been said. It would be difficult seeing her.

“Although we might have argued a bit, she’s got a good heart and I haven’t got a bad way to say about her.”

And at the time of their break-up insiders told how the distance between them made the relationship too hard to continue.

A source said: “There is a lot of love and respect there but it just wasn’t going anywhere.

“The distance between them was too much and they are both really focused on their careers post Love Island.”

Last year The Sun revealed Samie was in a relationship with former Towie star Harry Lee.

But they split just months later, with Samie wiping him from her social media.

A source said: “In recent months they have grown apart and decided it was better to remain friends.

“They tried their best to make things work but some things just aren’t meant to be.”

And Samie has revealed which All Stars boy she’s got her eye on.

When asked who she hopes to strike up a romance with, she replied: “Luca,” adding, “I feel like he’s very much a bit of me looks wise and watching him on this series, I like that he’s in touch with his emotional side.”

According to Variety, James Norton has signed up to star in the third series.

Happy Valley viewers know James, 39, portrayed Tommy Lee Royce in the BBC crime drama.

He will now be stepping into the world of Westeros as Ormund Hightower.

A description for the character reveals he is “Otto’s (Rhys Ifans) nephew, Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Gwayne’s (Freddie Fox) cousin, and the Lord of Oldtown. He is presently leading the Hightower host in a march on King’s Landing to support his house against Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy).”

Ormund had been referenced in the show previously, but is now being introduced physically.

Reacting to James’ casting as Ormund, one viewer wrote on X: “Great actor! Looking forward to it.”

Another penned: “Good addition.”

While a third said: “Oh, this is going to be good!.. House of the Dragon just keeps getting better and better.”

Series three is believed to already be in production, with filming reportedly starting next month for airing in 2026.

Elsewhere, James also had a starring role in the ITV detective drama Grantchester.

He played 1950s Anglican vicar Sidney Chambers, who turns sleuth in the village.

This saw him team up with DI Geordie Keating (Robson Green) to solve crimes.

Since leaving the show in 2019, James was replaced by Tom Brittney and more recently, Rishi Nair.

James was also previously announced to star in Netflix epic historical drama House of Guinness.

Who stars in House of the Dragon?

A prequel to smash-hit fantasy series Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon premiered in August 2022. The show features an ensemble cast playing characters in the fictional setting of Westeros. Let's take a look at some of the famous faces in House of the Dragon.

Paddy Considine: Actor, director and screenwriter Paddy received the role of King Viserys I Targaryen in House of the Dragon and led the ensemble in sesason one. Paddy’s film credits include Hot Fuzz and The World’s End, while his other TV work ranges from Peaky Blinders, The Outsider and The Third Day. He is also known for his collaborations with director Shane Meadows.

Matt Smith: Matt became the youngest ever actor to play Doctor Who, when he nabbed the role as a 29-year-old in 2009. Now a few years removed from the beloved BBC show, he is now playing the unpredictable Prince Daemon Targaryen in House of the Dragon. Matt also starred as Prince Philip in The Crown, receiving a Primetime Emmy award nomination for his performance.

Olivia Cooke: From Oldham in Greater Manchester, Olivia Cooke has enjoyed success on both sides of the pond. She had a starring role as Emma Decody in Bates Motel from 2013 to 2017. Prior to starring as Alicent Hightower in House of the Dragon, Olivia also appeared in period drama Vanity Fair and the sci-fi film Ready Player One, which was directed by Steven Spielberg.

Rhys Ifans: Before playing Ser Otto Hightower, Rhys Ifans was no stranger to blockbuster franchises. He’s played Xenophilius Lovegood in Harry Potter and Marvel Comics villain Dr Curt Connors/Lizard. He portrayed Mycroft Holmes in CBS series Elementary. Rhys also starred in films such as Notting Hill, Kevin & Perry Go Large and Enduring Love.

Emma D’Arcy: Before landing the role of Princess/Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, Emma had appeared as a main cast member in Wanderlust and Truth Seekers. Their film credits include 2020’s Misbehaviour opposite a cast including Keira Knightley, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Greg Kinnear, Keeley Hawes, Jessie Buckley, Phyllis Logan and Lesley Manville.

It will see him team up with Game of Thrones legend Jack Gleeson, who played infamous villain Joffrey Baratheon.

Becoming a star

Tre was born on January 1, 1975, and overcame a series of hardships at a young age.

Although he continues to suffer from tinnitus and derealisation, he recovered from double paralysis at the age of 15.

The star rocketed to fame when he founded the acclaimed band Architechs with his brother.

Originally, the group was a trio composed of Tre, Kevin Williams and Ashley Akabah.

They remixed songs by Usher, Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Beanie Man, but had their biggest hit with Body Groove in 2000.

Sadly, the group disbanded after Ashley passed away in Notting Hill, February 2, 2020, and Tre’s tinnitus became too severe to perform.

Speaking about his creative personality, Tre shared that he thinks he is really just a “super-geek”.

He said: “I have proven success.

“People think I am a cool dude.

“But underneath all of that, I am a super-geek.

“One of my dreams as a child was to be in those big red Britannica Encyclopaedia volumes, alongside the likes of Galileo, Newton, and Tesla.

“Total super nerd.

“Still cool though.”

Meeting Lord Sugar

Tre experienced a second wind in his career when he appeared on the BBC’s hit reality show The Apprentice in 2024.

The star had previously met Lord Sugar at a party in 2014, where he was pictured with the business mogul as well as X Factor judge Simon Cowell.

He made it to the interview week of the competition but was unable to convince Alan Sugar to invest in him.

Returning to The Apprentice

Tre will return to The Apprentice for its 2025 series to help the new batch of entrepreneurs create a new pop song.

The star took to Instagram to announce his return.

He said: “Buzzing for this episode! This time last year, I was in the boardroom as a contestant.

“Now I’m back mentoring the next wave of entrepreneurs, showing them how to craft a hit song and step up under pressure.

“What makes this moment even more special? Doing it in the year of the 25th anniversary of Body Groove, a track that changed everything for me.

“To come full circle, sharing my music knowledge and mentoring these candidates as they navigate the competition, is an absolute privilege.

“But this isn’t just about music, it’s about resilience, creativity, and stepping outside your comfort zone.

“Whether it’s crafting a song or building a business, success comes down to vision, execution, and belief.”

Tre will appear in the February 6, 2025, episode of The Apprentice.

Landmark European attraction to close this summer ahead of £297million revamp… and won’t reopen for five years

A MAJOR attraction in France is set to close later this year – and won’t reopen until 2030.

The Centre Pompidou, in Paris, is the largest modern art museum in Europe.

New exhibit spaces, cinema screens, roof terrace and restaurant will open by 2030[/caption]

As many as 3.5million tourists visit it a year, with it being a landmark attraction in the city along with The Louvre.

However, a five-year renovation is to start next year, meaning this is the last year tourists will be able to see it in a while.

It is estimated to cost €358million (£297million) – nearly €100million more than the French government first predicted.

The plans include a huge new area with two large cinema screens and exhibit spaces.

Both the museum and library are being fully refurbished as well.

A new restaurant will be built on-site, on the southside of the attraction.

Now, though, it is set to close for an extended period while the existing site is widened to make use of 20,000 sq ft bus park under the gallery piazza.

The new area will feature two large cinema areas and spaces for a range of new exhibitions.

The museum and library will both be fully refurbished, while a new restaurant will be opened on the south side of the complex.

A panoramic public viewing platform will open on the roof, offering “one of the most beautiful views of western Paris”,

Some of the closures are starting early – The Musée National d’Art Moderne, the permanent art collection and galleries is closing on March 10 along with the Bibliothèque Publique d’Information.

Other closures of exhibition spaces, bookshops and the shops will take place over the summer.

Progressive closure of exhibition areas, bookshop and store

The rest of the museum will close on September 22, after the final exhibition ends.

An official 2030 opening date is yet to be confirmed.

Art-fans can still see some of the exhibits, with some collections housed at other museums around the world.

This includes:

  • H’Art Museum, Amsterdam
  • Caixa, Barcelona and Madrid
  • KANAL Centre Pompidou, Brussels
  • Centre Pompidou, Malaga
  • Museum of Fine Arts, San Francisco
  • Centre Pompidou x New Jersey, Jersey City
  • Centre Pompidou x West Bund Museum Project, Shangai
  • Centre Pompidou Hanwha-Seoul, Korea

Centre Pompidou first opened in Paris in 1977, but hasn’t undergone any major renovations since the 1990s.

Also undergoing a huge renovation is The Louvre, with a €900million (£748million) revamp taking place until 2031.

When it reopens, new rules means Brits will pay more as non-EU citizens.

In the mean time, you can visit the Notre Dame, which reopened in December after a five years following the devastating fire.

Hated Man Utd owners the Glazers ‘pull out’ of hugely controversial bid to buy another sports team after fierce warning

The cricket side was auctioned on Monday and 71 per cent of it was taken over by the RPSG Group.

The group, who own the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, became the first external investor to own most of a Hundred franchise.

The Daily Mail have claimed that the Glazers has expressed a keen interest.

However, it is stated that they were warned against a move by people working in the process.

The Glazers are already viewed as unpopular in the city for their reign of the Red Devils.

Since taking over the Old Trafford side in June 2005, supporters have often chanted in protest of their ownership for the previous two decades.

It is thought that the Glazers instead opted to move for a stake in the London Spirit.

The capital-based team was also up for auction but on Friday had 49 per cent bought by a Silicon Valley coalition for £145million.

The Orginals are now the highest-valued franchise outside of London following the purchase by RPSG.

The group, owned by billionaire businessman Sanjiv Goenka, bought 49 per cent before being offered another 21 per cent stake.

The offer came from the ground owners in Lancashire for £75m.

RPSG were also keen on a stake in the London Spirit but failed in the auction.

More Hundred franchises in Leeds, Nottingham and Southampton will be auctioned later this week.
