PlayStation FINALLY removes frustrating PC requirement after a year of player complaints

THE fight between PlayStation and PC gamers over the unnecessary PSN requirement has been going on for almost a year.

PlayStation-exclusive games often come to PC sometime after launch, but since May 2024, Sony has been asking PC players to sign up for a PlayStation account.

Players were immediately furious for several reasons, the main one being that PSN is not available in many regions.

This means people who had enjoyed PlayStation games on PC in the past, were no longer able to purchase and play new PlayStation games on their computers.

It began with Helldivers 2, but Sony pulled back on the decision as thousands had already purchased and were enjoying the game.

Ghost of Tsushima had begun accepting pre-orders before the PSN requirement was announced, and Sony had to refund a number of customers.

Despite early missteps, PlayStation continued requiring a PSN account for its PC games, and it was implemented in games like Until Dawn, God of War Ragnarök, and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.

After almost a year of complaints from PC players, Sony has finally decided to remove the PSN requirement for PC games with new changes.

The change currently affects Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarӧk, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, which will be released on April 3.

A blog post from PlayStation reads: “An account for PlayStation Network will become optional for these titles on PC.

“Players who still opt to sign into a PlayStation Network account will also enjoy added benefits like trophies and friend management.”

Instead of locking potential players without a PSN account out of playing, PlayStation has decided to include in-game rewards for those who choose to sign up.

This includes costumes in Spider-Man 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, and The Last of Us Part 2, and armour, resources and XP for God of War Ragnarӧk.

Players are hoping that the same policy will also affect PlayStation games going forward, and be enacted retroactively to already released PlayStation titles.

Further changes have not been confirmed but would help bridge the gap between PlayStation and its PC playerbase.

ONE Masked Singer judge thinks they may have uncovered Bear’s secret identity.

They think the mystery celebrity made a slip-up on stage which revealed them to be a huge London rapper, but fans think Bear might be a legendary footballer.

Who is Bear on The Masked Singer 2025?

Bear has been one of the front-runners on the 2025 series of The Masked Singer.

Fans have linked them to Shakespeare, because of their elaborate period costume.

Their connection to the theatre seems strong, as they also performed You’ve Got To Pick a Pocket or Two from the musical Oliver!

What are the clues?

Bear has offered several clues about their identity, throughout the show.

The clues include:

  • Bear has made references to performing in the West End as a ‘cub’
  • A horseshoe
  • A coffee cup
  • Several globes
  • A ‘break a leg’ sign
  • Bear also said: ”The stage is set, the audience awaits, and I am hungry for the competition.”

During the show, Bear also revealed a riddle.

They said: ”I’m walking the stage and displaying my toil, but I’m also at home amongst flowers and soil.”

Who do the judges think Bear could be?

Mo Gilligan is in agreement with fans about Bear’s identity.

He said: “I think I’ve known who this is for a couple of weeks.

“You know why its because of the way they stand – I know this person personally.

“I’ve seen some music clues, I’ve seen they can do different types of music genres.

“I see under there I think it’s my friend Example.”

Example’s real name is Elliot Gleave and he has penned songs including Changed the Way You Kiss Me and the smash hit Kickstarts.

Fans agree with Mo’s theory because Bear chose to sing Shaboozey’s song Tipsy, which references Australia, football and yawning.

In response to the performance, one fan said: “Masked Singer, Bear is 100 per cent example (Elliot Gleave)!

“He’s a Fulham fan, he has a song with Ed Sheeran about chicken and he’s got a song called Kickstart.

“He’s the easiest one!”

Who do The Masked Singer fans think Bear is?

However, not everyone is convinced that Bear is Example.

Others think the mystery singer might actually be the legendary footballer John Barnes.

One fan took to X to say: “John barnes for bear … ill leave that there #maskedsinger.”

Another said: “Bear I think is John barnes.”

Some think that Bear could be Eastenders star Richard Blackwood.

On ITV, he was directly asked:  “Just quickly, before we finish – are you doing The Masked Singer?

“Because you’re getting loads of attention about it this week.

“Can you exclusively reveal it to us?”

Richard replied: “I could… because you made me feel so good and stuff.

“No, I can’t, I can’t. But the moves and the way I… I mean, that’s how I would do it.”

He was asked by Richard Madeley if he was Bear and said: “The Bear has swag.

“I’m looking and thinking thats how I would do it.

“You can’t put on the bear outfit and not know the swag has to be on point.”

Not only will you find stunning coats for just £2 in this UK shop, but there’s even designer bags for only £3 too.

And if that wasn’t enough, nothing is priced at more than £5 – yes, you heard that correctly.

Lola Amuah, a bargain hunter from the UK, took to social media to give her followers a close-up look inside her favourite charity shop, leaving many open-mouthed.

As she stood outside the Save the Children store on Osmaston Road, in Derby city centre, the thrifting fan said: “Nothing is priced more than £5 in this shop.”

And it didn’t take long for Lola to get her hands on a huge haul of purse-friendly finds, including a stunning Zara blouse for just £2.

Not only this, but Lola and her husband also spotted a ‘pretty’ Tu quilted coat from Sainsbury’s, which is perfect for keeping warm in winter, also for only £2.

If that wasn’t enough, the charity shop enthusiasts also found a Harry Potter top for £1 and lots of bags for just £2 each.

And if it’s luxury fashion you’re after, there’s plenty of that where this charity shop is concerned, as Lola also noticed an & Other Stories sweatshirt for £2, an Oliver Bonas blouse for £3 and even a silk dress, originally from Ted Baker, for just £5.

There was even gymwear too, as Lola beamed: “I spy Gymshark for £2.”

But that’s not all, as not only will you be able to give your wardrobe a refresh with these cheap finds, but you’ll also be able to upgrade your handbag collection too.

And if you thought that was it, think again, as it’s no surprise that Lola was even more overjoyed with her shopping trip when she spotted a brown leather Fiorelli bag for just £3 – which we think is a real bargain.

Lola’s TikTok clip, which she posted under the username @lola_amuah, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly racked up 117,100 views.

Top charity shop tips for bagging a bargain

Ross Dutton has been a manager for Crisis's charity shops for four years and currently runs the charity's Finsbury Park shop in London.

Choose your area – As a rule of thumb, the posher the area, the better quality the clothes that are donated.

Don’t hang around – If you see something you like, buy it, as it’ll likely be gone when you come back

Look out for cut-off labels – Some of your favourite high street stores will have deals with local charity shops to donate stock that isn’t sold during their own sales. Often part of the deal is that they need to cut the labels off the clothes.

Stay at home – While some charities have their own site, like Oxfam and Crisis. many also sell from dedicated eBay stores, such as British Heart Foundation and Scope. You won’t get the range of bargains that you would get in a physical store, but if you’re looking for something specific it may be worth checking online too.

Social media users were stunned by the ‘brilliant’ prices and were eager to express this in the comments.

One person said: “Great prices.”

Another added: “That first Zara shirt is gorgeous. I’m so jealous.”

A third commented: “It’s nice to see a charity shop not charging over the odds!”

Meanwhile, someone else wrote: “Always good bargains in this one.”

Not only this, but another charity shop fan recognised: “What a brilliant shop.”

At the same time, one secondhand shopper beamed: “Proof that secondhand is the new luxury!”

She also shared a screenshot of a similar air bed in Argos, which costs £35, but also comes with a pump.

The Adventuridge airbed is “suitable for camping, travel and sleepovers”, and can hold people up to a maximum weight of 22.7kg.

“Whereabouts please? I’m after one of these,” one person asked in the comments.

To which Danielle replied: “This was Silsden in West Yorkshire, was the last one.”

“These are fab! I brought 2 for a sleepover and they worked perfectly,” another wrote.

“I got it at full price, it was £9.99 so even at full whack was a bargain,” a third commented.

Pokémon TCG Pocket makes big changes to long-awaited feature following disastrous launch

TCG Pocket has been a huge success since it launched in October 2024, but it was missing one feature that fans were desperate for.

The ‘T’ in TCG Pocket stands for trading, but there was no way to exchange cards with other players on release.

However, people are unhappy with the high cost of the trading system[/caption]

Instead, you had to keep opening packs to find that last card you needed, or purchase them with Pack Points.

You receive five Pack Points for every pack you open, so you need to open a lot of boosters to guarantee getting the card you are looking for.

There was a trading option included in TCG Pocket at launch, but it was marked as ‘coming soon’.

More details were given in late January when it was revealed that trading would be enabled by the end of the month, including cards up to a one-star rarity.

It also explained that players would need a certain currency in order to trade, which people thought was reasonable until the feature was implemented.

Trading requires two completely new currencies: Trade Stamina, which recovers over time like other types of Stamina, and Trade Tokens.

Trade Tokens can only be obtained by exchanging cards, meaning you’ll lose more than just the card you want to trade.

Even worse, players received hardly any tokens when a card was exchanged. For example, exchanging a one-star card would give you 100 Trade Tokens, but you need 400 tokens if you want to trade.

Both you and your trading partner must spend these resources, so you need a large number of excess cards to make one trade.

Low-value cards that you are likely to have in excess cannot be exchanged for tokens.

This demand led to many players not using the trade function, even though they had waited a long time for it to be added.

Pokémon has heard people’s complaints about the issue and will make changes to the feature.

Its statement reads: “The item requirements and restrictions implemented for the trading feature were designed to prevent abuse from bots and other prohibited actions using multiple accounts.

“We understand that some of the restrictions put in place are preventing players from being able to enjoy the feature casually as intended.

“We are actively looking at ways to improve the feature to address these concerns.

“Going forward, we also plan to offer multiple ways to obtain Trade Tokens, including through event distributions.”

Those interested in using the TCG Pocket trade feature, should probably wait until there are more details about the upcoming changes.
