My husband went out on our anniversary leaving me alone with our baby

DEAR DEIDRE: MY husband went out on our wedding anniversary leaving me at home with our baby daughter.

He came home steaming drunk then just went straight to bed.

I am 27 and my husband is 30. We have been together for five years.

Our longed-for daughter was born six months ago but it was a traumatic birth ending with emergency surgery and I took many weeks to recover. Even now I have the odd flashback.

I was also quite depressed but instead of supporting me, my husband was unsympathetic and even irritated with both me and our daughter.

If she woke in the night he would shout at me and tell me to stop her crying. I was so stressed.

My mum came to stay for a couple of weeks when I returned home from hospital but all my husband did was shout at her, accusing her of meddling.

My in-laws are no better. They criticise how I look after our daughter.

I don’t want her to come from a broken home like I did but our baby’s birth seems to have brought out the worst in us as a couple.

DEIDRE SAYS: Looking after a newborn baby can be a stressful time and puts many relationships under pressure regardless of what they were like before. You have both been through a frightening time.

You are exhausted through sleep deprivation but rest assured this stage doesn’t last forever.

Critical grandparents who think they know best make things worse.

Your lives are changing but it’s important you talk it out. Both of you will recall the way you were parented, which can bring up painful feelings.

Ange Postecoglou gives Tottenham fan death stare in tense tunnel confrontation after Leicester defeat

ANGE POSTECOGLOU dished out a death stare in another chilling exchange with a Tottenham fan.

The Aussie boss even walked BACK to the tunnel confrontation after Leicester inflicted Spurs’ sixth defeat in seven Premier League games.

Postecoglou had walked straight off at first before returning

Just last month Postecoglou was guided away from visiting fans following a grim clash of words after a 1-0 loss at Bournemouth.

And this time he faced a torrent of criticism from fans above the tunnel after Leicester clinched a 2-1 comeback victory at the King Power Stadium.

One supporter bawled out: “You’re taking us down.. we’re going down with you.”

Postecoglou initially continued his hasty walk into the changing rooms.

But astonishingly he backtracked and glared towards the fan.

However, a club official appeared to point him inside again.

And the 59-year-old heeded that advice as he strode out of view.

Supporters who saw the incident labelled Postecoglou an “embarrassment” for seeming to consider a heated encounter with the fan.

One viewer posted: “Who does he think he is? We’re 15th in the league. Walk in those changing rooms before you get battered.”

Another said: “This is a recurring issue with him, it seems to be every game he squares up to fans who are rightly frustrated.”

And a third wrote: “The guy’s just lost his 13th league game of the season against a crap team at home and steps back as if he’s gonna do something…what an embarrassment!”

Postecoglou said of Saturday’s defeat: “It hurts a lot.

“The players gave everything again. We are going to look at a lot of things, but in terms of effort I can’t ask anymore of this group, things just didn’t go our way today.”

And he insisted:  “I know it will turn. We’ll get some players back, we were short again today but in the next couple of weeks there’s some really important players coming back that I know will help this group.”

I’m worried of a huge family feud if anyone discovers I’m sleeping with my uncle’s girlfriend

DEAR DEIDRE: THE sex I’m having with my uncle’s girlfriend is simply awesome but it is putting a strain on me because I’m worried that there will be a huge family feud if our secret gets out.

My uncle is my mum’s brother. He is divorced, having split up with his wife when she discovered he was cheating on her.

I’m a 26-year-old single man. My uncle’s 36 and his girlfriend is 32.

I live at home and she called round one evening because she wanted to talk to my mum.

My mum was out for the night but I could see she was at a loose end so I invited her in.

She seemed upset and opened up about her work stresses.

Then she confided that she was going through a bad patch with my uncle. I’ve always thought she was sexy, so when she cuddled up to me I was over the moon.

She said she wished my uncle was as considerate and caring. She seemed so sad and as we chatted I realised how much I liked her.

She then told me that she had always liked me.

She has an amazing body and we ended up having sex there and then.

It was the best experience ever, but straight after we both became awkward as the realisation of what we’d done set in. We were also aware my mum could be back at any moment.

Since that evening, she has told my mum that she is separating from my uncle. She found out he was cheating on her and apparently they haven’t had sex in months.

Since that first time, we’ve met often for romps in secret.

My family would never accept us being together. I love her but I think I’m out of my depth.

DEIDRE SAYS: Yes you are. There’s little chance of a future together no matter how good the sex is.

If you were found out, the fall-out would be devastating for you and your family.

End it now because the longer this continues the more attached you’ll be.

There is nothing in it for you in the long term. You will tire of being her secret, so end it before you are discovered.

Tell her that she needs to resolve her relationship one way or the other and she can only do this when she is not preoccupied with you.

Terrified gardai forced to take cover from man in dressing gown who wielded samurai sword & screamed ‘sick in the head’

TERRIFIED gardai had to flee from a man in a dressing gown who was wielding a samurai sword.

The incident took place in Blanchardstown, west Dublin on Thursday morning as cops were called to a property in the area.

Footage circulating on social media yesterday showed a Garda vehicle seen in the car park of an accommodation complex.

Two cops are then seen rushing back to the patrol car and jumping in as a man sprints up with a sword and smashes it against the car.

Another man and a cat flee the confrontation as the attacker, who is wearing a patterned dressing gown, yells at the cops.

As the gardai pull away, he begins to walk back inside but returns and hits the car a second time with the sword.

He screams: “I told ye. Move. Move. Move. Move. I told ye. Sick, sick in the head, no medication, I told ye.”

The clip, from Thursday at around 9am, ends as the sword nut walks away from the vehicle, which is still reversing.

It is understood the man is known to Gardai and is wanted in Northern Ireland.

He is now thought to be on the run, but officials believe there is no immediate threat to public safety.

The Garda Press Office was asked for comment and confirmed that officers are following a definite line of enquiry.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardai responded to a call for assistance at a domestic residence in Castaheany, Dublin 15 at approximately 9:00am on Thursday morning, 23rd January 2025.

“On arrival of Gardai, a male was observed in possession of an offensive weapon.

“Due to the aggressive nature of the male, Gardai took cover in an official patrol vehicle, while assistance was requested from the Divisional Armed Support Unit (ASU).

“A short time later ASU attended the scene, at which point the male had left the area.

“An Garda Siochana is following a definite line of enquiry.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

This is the moment two Gardaí fled for their lives from a dressing gown-clad thug wielding a samurai sword. The Irish Mirror understands the incident happened in the Blanchardstown area of west Dublin yesterday when Gardaí called to the man’s property. Footage shows the two officers sprinting back to their car while another man runs away in the opposite direction.

YOU have been let down at what should have been such an exciting time for you.

Many people would insist you should dump Hugo straight away, and with good reason.

Not only has he cheated on you, he risked your sexual health and potential pregnancy.

It may seem inconceivable at the moment but some couples do go on to strengthen their relationship after infidelity.

But for that outcome to have a chance, Hugo will have to show he is genuinely sorry.

Amorim fires extraordinary blast at Rashford and says he’d rather put 63-YEAR-OLD coach on Man Utd bench ahead of him

RUBEN AMORIM launched a  scathing attack on Marcus Rashford by claiming he would rather name his goalkeeping coach as a Manchester United sub.

Rashford was again left out of Amorim’s squad for last night’s win at Fulham, courtesy of Lisandro Martinez’s deflected strike.

The boss blasted Rashford’s lack of effort in training and said 63-year-old Jorge Vital would offer him more than the forward.

Asked directly about Rashford’s absence, Amorim said: “I’d put Vital on the bench before a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day. I’ll not change in that department.

“It’s always the same reason. The reason is the training. The way that I see what a footballer should do in training,  in life, every day.  If things don’t change, I will not change.

“Same situation for every player — if you do the maximum, if you do the right things, we can use every player.

“You can see it today  on the bench. We needed  pace to change the game, to move some pieces — but I prefer it like that.”

Rashford has been a loan target for Borussia Dortmund, Monaco and AC Milan, although he would prefer a move to cash-strapped Barcelona.

He has not played for Amorim since a 2-1 win at Viktoria Plzen on December 12 and has not been in a squad since a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on December 30.

Rashford posted on Instagram after Sunday’s win, saying: “Congratulations on the win lads.”

Martinez got a deflected 78th-minute winner — lifting United up to 12th.

But fans turned on co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who was sat in the stands at Craven Cottage by chanting: “Just like the Glazers, Jim Ratcliffe’s a c****”.

Ratcliffe has raised Old Trafford ticket prices for members to £66 in December — including kids and OAPs — and said it did not make sense for Fulham to be charging more than United.

Incredibly, Fulham charged up to £150 for tickets yesterday — with dozens of Red Devils fans celebrating Martinez’s goal in home sections.

Ratcliffe has been trying to generate more revenue while United battle to stay in line with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Asked about transfer plans after last night’s win, boss Ruben Amorim admitted he needs “a lot of help to improve”.

But he said: “We have to be cautious. We have to follow the rules and we have done mistakes in the past we can not do now, we have to focus on the team. We need to focus on the players that we have.

“We lack some pace and power up front. We need to create more chances, we struggle a lot in these details, but we need a lot of help to improve.”

“Not a great game, no great chances. We tried to control our game and play our game but we need to improve a lot.”

Fulham chief Marco Silva said: “It was cruel for us — their first shot was in the 78th minute. It was a really lucky goal. The result was unfair.”
