‘Scandalous’ – Roberto De Zerbi vows to NEVER manage in France again after Marseille chief declared Ligue 1 is ‘rigged’

MARSEILLE boss Roberto De Zerbi has been left so furious with Ligue 1 referees that he vowed to never manage in France again.

De Zerbi, 45, saw his team lose 3-0 to Auxerre on Saturday at Stade de l’Abbe Deschamps.

L’OM were fuming at full-time as they were very unhapy with the red card at Derek Cornelius, who was booked twice.

The ex-Brighton manager was so incensed that he described the officiating as “scandalous” when he spoke to the media after the final whistle.

The Italian tactician claims he has had enough and will never work in France again once he leaves Marseille, where his contract runs out in 2027.

De Zerbi told Telefoot: “I’m Italian, and after OM I’m not going to coach in France again.

“There’s a problem in the French championship, if French people are happy with this level of decision making, then good for them.

“But today it was scandalous. The referee was not in a serene position to referee this match because of all the controversy surrounding him.”

Marseille raised concerns with the board of arbitration of referees before the match following the appointment of Jeremy Stinat as the match official.

Stinat was the fourth official when the French giants were eliminated from the Cup against Lille last month.

That was when sporting director Medhi Benatia was handed a three-month suspension for incidents on the touchline.

According to La Provence, Marseille president Pablo Longoria also “flew into a fit of rage” in front of journalists after the match.

Longoria alleged that everything was “organised” against his team and it all started in the build-up to the match with Leonardo Balerdi’s booking, which led to his suspension for the game at Auxerre.

The Spanish football executive was also angry about a penalty he claims should have been awarded to Quentin Merlin as well as Cornelius’ red card.

The club chief went as far as to urge the reporters to quote him saying the league is “corrupt” as well as “rigged” and he would happily join the European Super League rebels if they approached him.

Longoria reportedly shouted: “This is corruption! I’ve never seen anything like it. You can write it down: Pablo Longoria says it’s corruption.

“Everything has been organised since the third yellow given to Balerdi. It’s planned, it’s rigged.

“There’s a penalty on Merlin, four European referees have told me so by message, and the most scandalous thing is the red card to Cornelius.

“This is a s***** championship, If the Super League comes to see us, we’ll go right away.”

LIVERPOOL have beaten Manchester City 2-0 to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 11 points.

Anne Marie shows off growing baby bump after confirming she’s pregnant with second child

SINGING sensation Anne Marie has shown off her growing baby bump after confirming she’s pregnant with her second child.

“Call me mummy and slap my bum,” Anne Marie, 33, said in the caption of her latest photo dump after announcing her second pregnancy in the week.

The stunning singer took to Instagram to share a slew of new photographs as part of a photo dump.

The first offering was a snap that showed off her blossoming baby bump as she stood with her eyes shut.

Anne Marie could be seen with her red hair plaited in the snap as she lifted up her black top to reveal her huge, protruding baby bump.

Standing with her eyes shut, Anne Marie looked beyond content as she displayed her round bump.

Fans were quick to comment on the post, with many keen to speculate over when she is due.

“When are you due?” asked one fan in the comments section, to which someone else said: “Her bump is big so probably April maybe May?”

“You’re so gorgeous. You’re the best mummy in the world,” swooned another.

While someone else added: “Okay, this family is getting more and more beautiful.”

Other snaps in the carousel that she shared included a glamorous selfie, a cup of tea with a single digestive biscuit, a bouquet of roses and other snapshots from her daily life.

Anne Marie recently revealed her second pregnancy, with the hitmaker leaving fans gobsmacked by the announcement.

When the singer revealed she was pregnant for a second time, she did so by sharing video of herself singing along to her song Don’t Panic before revealing her bump.

She sang: “Baby, please don’t panic. Nothing’s gonna happen.

“Please don’t panic. You’ll only cause more damage. You give yourself a heart attack.

“Oh, every time you think like that.”

Anne Marie captioned the video “surprise”, with her dancing around in the video and showing off her huge bump.

Fans were totally taken aback by the announcement because only last year did she welcome her first baby.

The former Voice UK judge welcomed her daughter with Slowthai in February last year.

The couple only recently celebrated their daughter – Seven’s – first birthday.

Anne-Marie and Slowthai – real name Tyron Kaymone – secretly married in Las Vegas in the summer of 2022.

Last year, a source exclusively told The Sun: “Anne-Marie and Slowthai got married in secret two years ago.

“She had an eight-week break from her tour and they went to Las Vegas and got married.”

Man City 0 Liverpool 2: Reds make easy work of Pep Guardiola’s crumbling side to go 11 points clear at top of table

THE transfer of power is complete at the top of the Premier League.

After Arne Slot’s champions-elect inflicted another emphatic defeat on Pep Guardiola’s fallen four-in-a-row kings, we can officially stop pretending that there is any sort of title race this season.

Liverpool are walking alone at the top of the table, 11 points clear of an Arsenal side who don’t have a fit centre-forward and have precious little discipline.

The Reds are the best team in England by a country mile, as they proved by winning a league match at the Etihad for the first time in a decade.

Mo Salah netted with a deflected strike from a genius corner-kick routine and then teed up Dominik Szoboslai for a 2-0 half-time lead as City were handed a painful lesson in ruthless efficiency by the runaway leaders.

Liverpool are rarely thrilling but they are impressive in their clarity of thought, the speed of their attacks and the surgical nature of their finishing.

City dominated the ball but never looked like winning.

It was their 14th defeat in all competitions since the end of October. Liverpool are unbeaten in the Premier League during that time, during which their only meaningful defeat was when Slot sent out the reserves at Plymouth in the FA Cup.

The gulf between these clubs – for so long England’s top two – is vast.

City, who were outclassed by Real Madrid as they exited the Champions League in midweek, cannot even give elite clubs a proper game at present.

Liverpool’s coronation had been almost confirmed by Jarrod Bowen’s winner for West Ham at Arsenal yesterday/Saturday.

Yet City had never previously lost a home league game to Liverpool under Guardiola.

For all the brilliance of the matches, and the intensity of the rivalry between his side and Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, there was never a Premier League away win, in front of a crowd, for either side.

For City, there was no Erling Haaland, while Ruben Dias, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva were all resting after their hiding at the Bernabeu.

Kevin De Bruyne returned but the Belgian simply embodies City’s sudden, incomprehensible decline.

Guardiola employed Phil Foden as a makeshift centre forward and it was ‘false nines’ all round with Slot opting to play Curtis Jones through the middle, leaving Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota on the bench.

On paper, that appeared to be an unlikely show of respect towards Guardiola’s bullet-ridden troops.

It turned out to be nothing of the sort.

It only took 14 minutes for the league leaders to go in front with that beautifully-choreographed corner routine.

After a Lewis blunder, Luis Diaz won the set-piece with a shot turned around the near post by Ederson.

Alexis Mac Allister delivered it low to Dominik Szoboszlai, who had peeled away from the near post into space and cut back neatly for Salah to score with a shot which took a heavy deflection off Nathan Ake.

Arsenal have a mural of their set-piece coach. Perhaps Liverpool will soon have one too. ,

Slot’s side hadn’t looked convincing before that. Doku was frequently twisting Trent Alexander-Arnold inside out, yet while City dominated possession there was no end product.

The champions netted on the half-hour but while Omar Marmoush had finished smartly, in off the far post, he had been in a comfortably offside position.

Soon it was 2-0, Alexander-Arnold’s lofted pass releasing Salah, who darted forward and squared for Szoboszlai to ping his shot past a frozen Ederson – one of many City players who look gone at all levels.

The sound of jubilant, crowing Scousers pounded the eardrums of every City fan and of the nation at large.

And it was the last kick of the first half which summed up City’s implosion perfectcly – a shot from the once-great De Bruyne which sailed over the corner flag.

After the break, De Bruyne attempted a sliding tackle on Szoboszlai, missed, and careered into Guardiola in his technical area.

Liverpool thought they had gone three-up when Ryan Graveberch’s visionary pass released Szoboszlai who squared for Jones to tap in – only for VAR to deem the Hungarian offside by a toenail, when he had been level by any previous understanding.

Technology punishing a brilliant move and rewarding lazy defending.

Instantly, City woke up and Marmoush’s fierce shot forced a first meaningful save from Alisson.

Next, Diaz cut inside and had a powerful effort brilliantly saved by a fully-stretched Ederson.

De Bruyne was hauled off in place of James McAtee but by then Liverpool were home and hosed.

Fury over Galaxy Easter eggs that look like a ‘foil wrapped jacket SPUD’ as shoppers blast ‘sneaky’ shrinkflation tactic

SHOPPERS have been left outraged at the latest “shrinkflation” to hit Britain after flat Easter eggs were spotted on shelves.

Flat chocolate eggs that look like “potatoes” were being sold at a Morrisons, it was claimed.

Shoppers are fuming after Easter eggs appear to be ‘smaller’ and ‘aren’t even egg-shaped’ this year

The Galaxy Minstrels Milk Chocolate Easter Eggs in Morrisons has caused a frenzy on social media[/caption]

New Galaxy Minstrels Milk Chocolate Easter Eggs look like someone “sat on them before they hit the shelves”, angry customers complained.

Furious Easter Egg hunters took to social media to slam the new shape and branded it “the latest victim of shrinkflation”.

It was branded “the sneakiest example of shrinkflation I’ve seen in a long time” online.

According to a Reddit user the problem could be mimicked across many of the big name brands.

One customer posted an image of the foil-wrapped Galaxy egg sitting horizontally decrying the off putting flat shape.

He wrote on Reddit: “Has anyone else noticed that this year’s Easter Eggs aren’t actually egg-shaped?

“Is this the latest victim of shrinkflation, or have we just collectively forgotten what an egg looks like?”

The golden foil wrapped around the almond shaped chocolate carries Galaxy’s logo, which the user said he purchased at Morrisons.

Another user agrees with the poster’s evaluation: “Yeah genuinely thought I was looking at a foil wrapped jacket spud here.”

Fury was unleashed in the comments as other buyers declared dissatisfaction with shrinkflation, which is when a product decreases in size while its price stays the same.

Another Reddit user added: “They have been getting flatter every year.”

“Every f****** thing is getting more expensive, and every f****** thing is getting more s***,” one said.

“I’ve found quite a few foods now are either smaller, less quality, runnier. It sucks,” echoed another.

Another user said: “Just another way companies are scrimping on the costs. Honestly shocking.”

While the user bought the product at a Morrisons, where it costs £4, it can be found at most major grocery stores.

One review left on January 25 gave the product one star out of five and claimed they purchased the same product the week before, when it was 73p cheaper and contained a higher quantity by 13 grams.

They warned: “Do not buy this scam product.”

But some people found a humorous angle, instead scolding the disgruntled customer for buying Easter eggs in February.

“If that’s an egg it was laid by a young hen towards the start of her first laying season when weird shaped eggs are common,” one said.

These sweet treat meltdowns come as other stores have been slammed, not for the shape of the eggs, but for their sky-rocketing prices.

Cadbury Mini Eggs cost have saored with a 270g bag costing a whopping £4.85.

Customers have taken to social media, complaining: “the inflation doesn’t add up.”

The reason behind this spike supposedly is the rising price of cocoa and dairy, according to Mondelez International, the parent company of Cadbury.

Infuriated shoppers however are in disbelief over some of the prices, with some even threatening to abandon Easter eggs altogether.

The Sun has reached out to Morrisons, Mars Incorporated, and Cadbury for a comment.

WHAT IS SHRINKFLATION?

Shrinkflation is when manufacturers reduce the size or quantity of a product, while keeping the price the same, explains consumer editor Lynsey Barber.

Prices are rising and food and drink makers are reluctant to pass this on to consumers.

Instead, shrinking the item means the price tag doesn’t change. But shoppers get less for their money.

Some manufacturers have even put UP the price at the same time as making products smaller.

Another tactic used is known as skimpflation.

This is when the recipe of food and drink is changed to try and reduce production costs.

But shoppers still pay the same, or more.

It means shoppers won’t pay more when costs increase for the company making the item – but they will get less product.

Smaller products are easier for customers to digest compared to increasing prices, making it a popular option for manufacturers as it’s less noticeable.
