Suspect Lerry Gnoli, 54, had been working on a 15-tonne tracked bulldozer after a long evening out on the dunes at the Pinarella di Cervia beach on north-eastern Italy’s Adriatic Coast.

Police have accused him of reversing the deadly vehicle straight over the holidaymaker as she bent down to pick up a shell.

She was crushed to death almost instantly, cops say.

Witnesses say the bulldozer had no warning lights or audible reversing alerts as it ploughed into the retired teacher.

Chilling vid shows shark chase boy, 16, as he was hauled out of water with ‘arm left hanging off by sinew’ after attack

THIS is the unbelievable moment a shark chased a teen as he was hauled out of the water following an attack that left his arm hanging off by sinew.

Emergency services were called to reports of the attack at Cabarita Beach on New South Wales‘ north coast, Australia just before 4pm on Sunday.

The nearly seven-foot beast – suspected to be a bull shark – mauled the right side of the 16-year-old’s body, causing severe injuries to his leg, hand and arm, reports say.

Jaw-dropping footage showed fellow surfers and swimmers rushing to help the teen while the shark lurked closely behind him – visible only by its gargantuan fin.

Screams could be heard in the background as a brave person punched the shark while others scrambled to safety.

But rescuers continued to be stalked by the creature as they carried the injured boy to safety.

One shocked onlooker exclaimed in the clip: “Oh my God, that’s the shark.”

And another said: “Oh f***! That’s really scary!”

Thankfully an off-duty paramedic was at the scene and helped the teen using a tourniquet to help stop the excessive bleeding.

One of the heroes who raced to help the boy after hearing his deafening screams was Brazilian Thiago Collel.

Recalling the horror incident, he explained how the boy sustained injuries that left one of his arms hanging off by a thread of sinew.

The 39-year-old told Daily Mail: “When I got to the shore, he had been dragged in by a group of people including an off-duty paramedic who happened to be walking on the beach at the time.

“His bicep was destroyed – you could see all the muscle, flesh and bone.

“He lost a scary amount of blood. I was covered in it.”

The group then carried the boy out to safety on a surfboard they used as a makeshift stretcher.

Collel said he and several others “were just trying to keep him calm, holding his head and making sure he was okay”.

He added: “I just kept talking to him and he told me how he fought off the shark by kicking and punching it away.”

The boy was then airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

He remains here in serious but stable condition, the news site added.

A second chopper was deployed to track down the shark after the horror incident, but to no avail.

The species of shark currently remains unknown, but locals believe it was a bull shark.

Some even fear it could be a two-metre great white.

Lucy Letby cops arrest 3 senior members of leadership team at hospital where killer nurse murdered 7 babies

COPS have arrested three people who were in senior leadership roles at the Countess of Chester Hospital when babies were killed by Lucy Letby.

The killer nurse is serving 15 whole-life orders for murdering seven babies in a year-long reign of terror.

Letby, 34, also tried to kill seven others – including one baby twice – at Countess of Chester Hospital.

Cops yesterday arrested three people who worked at the hospital in senior roles in 2015-2016.

They were arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and have been bailed.

Detective Superintendent Paul Hughes, Senior Investigating Officer for Operation Duet, said: “In October 2023 following the lengthy trial and subsequent conviction of Lucy Letby, Cheshire Constabulary launched an investigation into corporate manslaughter at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

“This focuses on senior leadership and their decision making to determine whether any criminality has taken place concerning the response to the increased levels of fatalities.

“In March 2025 the scope of the investigation widened to also include gross negligence manslaughter.

“This is a separate offence to corporate manslaughter and focuses on the grossly negligent action or inaction of individuals.

“It is important to note that this does not impact on the convictions of Lucy Letby for multiple offences of murder and attempted murder.

“As part of our ongoing enquiries, on Monday 30th June three individuals who were part of the senior leadership team at the CoCH in 2015-2016, were arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.

“All three have subsequently been bailed pending further enquiries.

“Both the corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter elements of the investigation are continuing and there are no set timescales for these.

“Our investigation into the deaths and non-fatal collapses of babies at the neo-natal units of both the Countess of Chester Hospital and the Liverpool Women’s Hospital between the period of 2012 to 2016 is also ongoing.”

Jennifer and beloved husband Colm are also parents to their son Alex, four, and twins Isabella and Amber, two.

The Leitrim native took to Instagram yesterday and announced that she is battling breast cancer.

The mum-of-four posted a gut-wrenching video of her and her little ones embracing each other and said: “Breast cancer. A journey I never imagined I’d be going on… but I’m soaking up every cuddle before it begins.

“The past few days have been a complete blur. Everything has happened so quickly — and I’m heartbroken to share that I’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer.”

The 36-year-old admitted that she had never “checked her breasts” before and actually found her lump by “complete accident” in the shower.

Luckily, Jennifer and her doctors have detected the lump early on.

Jennifer explained that although she’s “scared, nervous and overwhelmed”, she’s “grateful” too.

She added: “Grateful that I found the lump. Grateful it was caught early. Grateful to Nurse Edel in my local GP who acted so quickly.
Grateful that it’s treatable. Grateful for the incredible care I’ve received already.

“And most of all — grateful it’s me and not one of my children, family, or friends.”

Jennifer’s first step in her cancer journey begins this week with surgery followed by treatment.

She said: “It won’t be easy but I’m feeling strong and positive.

“I’ll keep you updated as I go, but in the meantime, please do me one small favour: check your breasts. Love to you all.”

Jennifer’s friends and fans raced to the comment section with love and supportive messages.

‘YOU’VE GOT THIS’

Podcaster Georgie Crawford wrote: “Jennifer I am so sorry to read this. Always always here for you.”

Presenter Sile Seoige said: “Jennifer love, I am so sorry. You have an amazing attitude and that will stand to you in the weeks and months ahead. Please know there is an ocean of love and support surrounding you. Grá mór millteach.”

DWTS pro dancer Laura Nolan commented: “Sending you all the love and strength. You’ve got this.”

2FM star Doireann Garrihy remarked: “Sending you so much love Jennifer.”

RTE star Miriam O’Callaghan added: “So sorry to hear this Jennifer but so happy also to hear you caught it early. You’re of course now going to overcome it and emerge even stronger from it than ever before. Sending you so much love and luck.”

The English beach that may ‘never be safe to swim in again’

A BEACH in the UK which has some of the dirtiest water in the country could never be safe to swim in again, experts have warned.

Heacham Beach won a “Brown Flag” award earlier this year, which is given to the dirtiest beaches in the UK.

High pollution levels in the water have been attributed to bird waste[/caption]

The unofficial award is a version of the Blue Flag, an official ranking of the cleanest beaches.

Not only that, but the beach has been classified as poor quality since 2021 by the Environment Agency, with high levels of pollution in the water.

The dirty waters have been credited to animal waste coming from seabirds – as much as 60 per cent – rather than sewage waste.

The bacteria levels are highest in July and August – the peak tourist season – although the reasons are still being discussed.

Suggestions include a lack of rainfall and an increase in tourism.

West Norfolk Council cabinet member for environment, Sandra Squire, said: “Sooner or later we may have to admit, if 60 per cent of pollution is coming from the bird population, it may be that this area should not be for bathing.”

She added: “If Anglian Water said they cannot cope, then nothing else should be connected to that sewage works.

“We all know what happens when they can’t cope – we end up with sewage in our streets, our rivers and seas.”

Year-round testing is being suggested to work out the reason for the pollution, as most if done during the summer period.

Not only that, but it could soon get even worse.

Anglian Water’s (AW) sewage works recently said they were nearing capacity – meaning potentially more pollution.

Ms Squire added: “If Anglian Water said they cannot cope, then nothing else should be connected to that sewage works.

“We all know what happens when they can’t cope, we end up with sewage in our streets, our rivers and seas”.

It also means tourists are unlikely to visit the beaches if it continues, with on local saying he was met with an “appalling stench of sewage” while there.

Following it’s Brown Flag Award – with Heacham being one of 13 in the UK to get one – other visitors have also said they worry about being able to swim in it.

One mum, who visits every day with her daughter, said it was “not very pleasant” to look out.

She told the BBC: “We check the signs and it always says poor quality don’t swim.

“Some days there’s foam on the water which is a brown colour.”

Anglian Water is now investing more than £31million into improving the waters in the region, up to 2027.

In the mean time, we’ve rounded up some of the UK’s cleanest beaches you can swim in.
