Leinster lost out by a point as the Bulls surged back on their home turf in the URC clash

The Irish side had looked poised to extend their unbeaten streak as Ross Byrne kept the scoreboard ticking through two conversions and a pair of penalties.

Tries from Jordie Barrett and Andrew Osborne had seemingly put the visitors in control at the South African venue.

But the Bulls refused to back down as they stunningly fired their way back into the game.

That came after Keagan Johannes gave the hosts a lifeline with an early try, and the comeback gained momentum in the second half.

With the clock winding down, David Kriel slotted the winning penalty kept his nerve to nail the decisive penalty, sending the home fans into delirium.

It was a crushing finish for Leinster, who had led for large periods but paid the price for letting the Bulls stay within reach.

For the Bulls, it was a statement win — one that sends shockwaves through the URC.

Leinster will look to regroup quickly, while the Bulls celebrate one of their biggest wins of the season.

They still hold a nine point advantage at the top of the table.

Prior to today’s defeat, Leo Cullen’s side were unbeaten in all competitions during the URC and Champions Cup.

It was the Irish provinces first defeat in 17 games in the competition.

Edinburgh were beaten 21-18 by Benetton, while Scarlets lost 29-17 at home to Stormers.
