Amy Carlson’s exit from Blue Bloods might have been less than adequate for fans, and it seems that Carlson herself also wishes that things could have been a little more different. Amy Carlson’s Linda Reagan was an integral part of Blue Bloods for almost seven seasons, before deciding to not renew her contract so that she may move on to better projects.

However, Carlson revealed that she had one regret about her exit from the show, the kind that made it impossible for her to return in later episodes. Turns out, as the actress decided to not renew her contract, the show decided to kill her off-screen, which is not something that the actress actually saw coming.
Amy Carlson wishes that her death was something that fans could have experienced onscreen

Amy Carlson spoke to Deadline about how her exit from the show was handled, and how she thought there could have been more that was done with her departure in general. She believed that the fans were not able to grieve the character in a satisfactory manner, thanks to the abrupt way in which she exited the show, after being on it for seven years. She said:
I could’ve shown the death. I guess it would’ve been nice for the fans to see her demise and to be a participant in it, and that was my vote for the fans.
Carlson was informed that there were several people in the production who wanted to see her return, which was followed by her rightly pointing out that the show could never bring her back, thanks to the way in which she was killed off of-screen. However, her exit from the show was so that she could pursue other endeavors, which has managed to be a prosperous decision for her in more ways than one.
Amy Carlson has dipped her fingers in a few pies after quitting Blue Bloods

Amy Carlson has been pretty busy since her exit from Blue Bloods way back in 2017. The actress specifically did not renew her contract, which would have enabled her to be on the show, so that she may pursue more diverse projects and take on more opportunities that were coming her way. It seems that the actress made good on the opportunities that came her way, starring in a slew of shows and films, and even directing her own short film.
So far, since her exit, the actress has starred in projects like The Society, and Law and Order: Special Vicitim’s Unit. She has also managed to be in films like Sunny Daze, where she essayed the role of Samantha. The actress was in one of the lead roles in Known Fear, which came out in 2021. Further, the actress also released an entire album with her husband Syd Butler, and friend Seth Jabour, under the credit of her band, Office Romance.
