Bethesda Streaming the Xbox Games Showcase Is Giving Me Major Elder Scrolls 6 Reveal Vibes

I’m pretty much convinced 2025 will be a promising year for gaming, after seeing announcements from Summer Game Fest and the recent State of Play. However, there is one more event that is eye-catching, and it’s the Xbox Games Showcase. To be honest, most of the excitement lies with seeing some The Elder Scrolls 6 footage.

We’d likely get a sneak peek of The Elder Scrolls 6 this year, as Bethesda’s official channel will be streaming the event. Back in 2023, they did the same for revealing Starfield, and thus, my hopes are high. It could be for Arcane’s Blade as well. But let’s focus on the prior, shall we?

There is no denying almost every one of us is hyped for The Elder Scrolls 6, and no one knows what Bethesda has been brewing. Did they mess it up like Starfield, and why is it taking so long? These looming questions are just making the waiting period worse, and only Bethesda can end it.

But I believe our curiosity itch will finally be dealt with at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase 2025. Why do I think so? The announcement trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 was released almost six years ago, with no follow-ups. The release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered might just be a strategic warm-up for fans (yeah, I was a conspiracy theorist in the past, how did you know?).

Furthermore, in 2023, we saw the release of Starfield after its initial reveal in 2018. The reveal and release are almost five years apart, considering the challenges posed by the pandemic. If it timeline is looked at closely, it’s been almost six years since the first announcement. Maybe this time, we’ll get a trailer and get a release date.

It’s not known how long TES 6 has been in development, but it certainly ain’t as long as GTA 6. IGN reports suggest the game entered early development in 2023, and it’s been three years since. But even though it is still in production, a trailer can be expected, right? Even Rockstar dropped some trailers, and they’re the most secretive game company of all time!

I think Bethesda will make a similar move, just like Rockstar did, and water down the expectations of fans. The year 2026 is already gearing up for some massive releases, like Silent Hill f, Pragmata, and more. This would be the chance for Bethesda to join the competition and drop a bombshell. However, knowing it went into early production in 2023, maybe it will take 2027 to release it.

What do we know about The Elder Scrolls 6?

We have gotten nothing from Bethesda other than a 40-second trailer full of rocks and grass. Now, don’t lose your hopes just yet, I do have some fair conclusions to draw here. There are theories that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be set in Hammerfell, since the region remains a legend in the fanbase. Moreover, the teaser trailer hints at the geographical features of the location.

Not just Hammerfell, High Rock is also said to be a part of the TES 6 map as well. If that indeed happens, it would be the first The Elder Scrolls game with two major provinces of Tamriel. Maybe in the far future we’ll get to experience the whole of it. Wild theory, but who knows? I believe it is possible someday, as technology has advanced exponentially.

There are some leaks suggesting The Elder Scrolls 6 will remain as an Xbox exclusive initially, before passing the breadcrumbs to PlayStation. It’s a major title release that can shift the sides in favor of Xbox, so it is possible. But again, Oblivion Remastered was released for all platforms together, so the leaks might be wrong.

I sincerely hope we’ll get to see The Elder Scrolls 6 at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, as PlayStation pretty much fumbled. There was no showcase of major IPs like Wolverine, Spider-Man, or The Last of Us. If Xbox manages to highlight some of its biggest IPs, it would be a win for them. At least for this year.
