The BET Awards 2025, marking their 25th anniversary, aired live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 9, 2025, hosted by Kevin Hart. It was a night of top-tier performances, heartfelt tributes, and powerful moments
Kevin Hart is a dynamic comedian whose energetic performances and sharp wit have made him one of the most popular figures in stand-up comedy today. Known for his animated storytelling, relatable jokes, and self-deprecating humor, Hart can turn everyday mishaps and personal experiences into laugh-out-loud moments that resonate with audiences.
What did Kevin Hart say about Kanye West and P. Diddy?

Kevin Hart didn’t hold back regarding Kanye West during his 2025 BET Awards opening monologue. With a comedic tone, he pretended to check his phone and warned the audience that Kanye was trying to sneak into the event.
Ah sh*t, it’s Kanye… He says he’s out front. He’s waiting for somebody to invite him in.
He continued:
Hey, don’t do it, okay? We all saw the movie Sinners, don’t let his a*s in here so he can bite somebody, so he can bite Playboi Carti again.

The Jumanji actor said with a laugh:
Playboi Carti definitely been bit, something happened. Playboi Carti’s been bit, I know he has.. Nobody let Kanye in! No, not tonight.
He was talking about the vampire thriller directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan (via Complex). This was a playful jab referencing Kanye’s recent public meltdowns, including Grammys outbursts and online controversies.
For reference, despite being nominated for Best Rap Song for “Carnival” in the Grammys, Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, reportedly fought for five hours to secure tickets. They were allegedly only given red-carpet access, not full entry.
Meanwhile, Hart’s joke was a comedic roast, not a factual statement about Kanye being linked to the film. On the other hand, Hart also referred to Ye’s recent issues with Playboi Carti.
Kanye publicly aired grievances after Playboi Carti omitted him from his 2025 album Music, despite Kanye having production credits. Furthermore, after Ye, Hart took a jab at Diddy and said:
I’m gonna do my part. I’m shutting down the idea of after parties, no after parties tonight, OK? Take your a*ses home after this…No after parties. That’s where sh*t gets slippery at them goddamn after parties.
With that line, Hart poked fun at P Diddy’s widely-reported “slippery” reputation involving baby oil at lavish gatherings. He directly referenced Diddy’s ongoing federal trial for serious allegations, including s*x trafficking and racketeering, saying:
We’re learning a lot about people, ain’t we?
The joke taps into the scandal surrounding Diddy, especially the graphic details from trial testimony about oily s*x parties, making the crowd wince while laughing.
Kevin Hart also roasted Cardi B during the event

Hart teased that the audience would leave in self-driving Waymos—since there’s no driver to bribe—sarcastically hinting at avoiding yachts, boats, and pink substances tied to Cardi B‘s entourage rumors. He said:
No yachts, no boats. Cardi B, no pink stuff, what the f*ck? None of that stuff. Everybody’s gonna get hit tonight. We’re live. It’s gonna be a good time.
For reference, over Memorial Day weekend, Cardi B and NFL player Stefon Diggs were spotted partying on a yacht in Miami. A viral video showed Diggs with a pink, crystallized-looking substance, sparking public speculation, even though it wasn’t necessarily illegal.
Overall, Hart’s performance as the host of the BET Awards was a perfect blend of humor and sharp social commentary. Through his witty monologue and carefully placed jabs at major stars, Hart kept the audience entertained while also addressing trending controversies.
