DRY weather is taking a hold over the country over the next few days, but with that is coming some chilly temperatures.
Weather bosses have confirmed that there will be “plenty” of dry weather and sunshine hitting this week.

However, they have warned that along with this, there will be “sub-zero” temperatures also on the way.
This morning has shown this to be true as black ice is appearing in some areas.
Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather said: “A chilly morning here in Carlow with some black ice on car.
“Mainly dry today with good sunny spells for most.”
Met Eireann’s Mark Bowe has explained why exactly this type of weather is appearing this week.
He has said that due to the jet stream over the coming days, Ireland’s weather is being strongly influenced and bringing high pressure over the the country.
DRY CONDITIONS
He said: “The weather over the next few days you’ll be glad to hear is going to be fine and dry with plenty of sunshine as well.
“Lots of lovely clear skies during the day to help take the edge off our final month of winter.
“Our good friend the jet stream is playing a major part. It’s running very strong over the next few days and while you may think this is a bad thing, our weather is more influenced by where we are positioned in relation to the jet.”
Mark added that due to this, we can expect dry weather and sunshine to peak through.
He continued: “So staying on the southeastern flank of a strong jet will result in high pressure building over you and thankfully for the next three days, that’s exactly where we are.
“With high pressure in charge now to finish out the week, we can expect plenty of fine and dry weather with good sunshine through the day.
“Naturally coastal parts will see a touch of cloud at times, but this kind of weather should take us into the weekend.”
COLD SNAP ON THE WAY
However, the good stretch of weather is bringing some downfalls as there will also be frost and ice along with low overnight temperatures.
He added: “The only drawback is of course under clear skies at night, the earth loses its natural insulation because remember clouds act like duvets.
“So from tonight onwards we can expect plenty of sub-zero temperatures at night with plenty of frost and icy patches.”
THIS WEEK’S FORECAST
Today will be largely dry and bright with some light winds and temperatures of 7C to 10C, before turning colder overnight and “temperatures will fall quickly after sunset” to lows of 1C to -2C.
Thursday will then see a similar day with temperatures of 6C to 9C as cloud drifts in to Munster and Connacht before temperatures again dropping to -1C to 2C, as well as frost and ice possible.
Friday will then start out cold but dry amid 6C to 9C before dry conditions continue into the night, with temperatures dropping to 0C to -3C.
WEEKEND WEATHER
The weekend will become more cloudy with light rain possible on Saturday evening and colder again with temperatures of 3C to 7C.
Sunday will stay mostly dry with some outbreaks of rain and temperatures rising to 5C to 8C.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed a 15-year-old has been charged over Harvey’s death.
Chris Hartley, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service Yorkshire and Humberside, said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has reviewed a file of evidence from South Yorkshire Police.
“We have authorised South Yorkshire Police to charge a 15-year-old with murder in relation to the death of Harvey Willgoose, 15, at All Saints Catholic High School on 3 February.
“He has also been charged with possession of a bladed article and one count of affray.
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are active and that the youth has a right to a fair trial.
“It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
Harvey was making his way to lessons when he was stabbed three times in front of his terrified classmates.
Heroic teachers raced to perform emergency first aid as the school was placed on lockdown.
Harvey was rushed to hospital in a serious condition but tragically died soon after arriving.
Tributes have flooded in for the schoolboy from his devastated friends and family.
His family said: “We are utterly heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful boy, Harvey Goose.
“Our lives are devastated and will never be the same again. We have lost a beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew and most importantly, a best friend to all.
“Harvey will be forever known for being a caring, loving and funny young man.”
Mum Caroline and sister Sophie placed flowers and read emotional tributes as they visited the school on Tuesday.

Harvey was described as “one of the sweetest souls” by fellow pupils at All Saints’ Catholic School.
Flowers, balloons, an England flag and a card have all been left at the gates.
Sheffield United, who Harvey supported, also paid tribute.
The club said: “All at Sheffield United were saddened to learn of the passing of Harvey, our deepest condolences are offered to his family and friends at this difficult time.
“We share the shock and distress of the community following this tragic incident and appreciate that discussions are underway with regards to tributes to remember Harvey.”
In an update today, South Yorkshire Police warned communities “avoid online speculation” regarding the identity of the suspect.
A statement added: “At the heart of this devastation is a grieving family and they deserve respect and privacy during this difficult time.”
PM Sir Keir Starmer said: “My heart goes out to the family and loved ones of the boy, the staff and students at the school, and the entire community of Sheffield.
“They are grieving the needless loss of a young life and the nation mourns with them.
“Our schools should be places of safety and learning, not violence and fear.
“Tonight a young boy should be returning to the love and safety of his family.
“We stand and work together against the devastating consequences of knife crime, so no more families know this tragic loss.”

10 hours agoLatest NewsComments Off on Your radiators will work faster & hotter thanks to a free tip – and it only takes 10 minutes
IF your home is still feeling chilly even with your heat on, this step might help.
Home heating experts have recommended everyone take this step to elevate their radiators this winter.

Since February is the coldest month of the year in the UK, this tip is more important than ever.
If you’ve noticed a few cold spots on your otherwise toasty radiator, don’t worry about calling a plumber just yet.
According to experts, your radiator likely just needs a good cleaning to fix this issue.
Ben Clarke from Trade Radiators revealed that a dirt build-up can impact your radiator’s heating element, reports the Daily Express.
“Radiators are essential for maintaining a cosy home during colder months in the UK,” he explained.
“However, they often accumulate dust, debris, and greasy fingerprints, which can impact their energy efficiency.”
He added that this can also make your radiator look “a bit unsightly” and can even cause it to smell when it gets hot.
According to the pro, cleaning your radiator will help it run more efficiently.
This will help to reduce your energy consumption and potentially cut down on your bills.
Ben broke down the best method for cleaning your radiators, and you only need three things.
You can choose between a classic washing up liquid or white vinegar for this process.
A long handled duster is also important as well as access to warm water.
Before beginning, switch of your heat and ensure your radiators have sufficiently cooled down.
You should also place an old towel at the base of your radiator to protect your floor.
Then you simply dust your radiator, paying particular attention to out-of-sight areas such as between the heater and wall.
5 ways to keep your house warm in winter
Property expert Joshua Houston shared his tips.
1. Curtains
“Windows are a common place for the outside cold to get into your home, this is because of small gaps that can let in air so always close your curtains as soon as it gets dark,” he said.
This simple method gives you an extra layer of warmth as it can provide a kind of “insulation” between your window and curtain.
2. Rugs
“Your floor is another area of your home where heat can be lost and can make your home feel chilly,” he continued. “You might notice on cold days, that your floor is not nice to walk on due to it freezing your feet.
“Add rugs to areas that don’t already have a carpet, this provides a layer of insulation between your bare floor and the room above.”
3. Check your insulation
Check your pipes, loft space, crawlspaces and underneath floorboards.
“Loose-fill insulation is very good for this, and is a more affordable type of insulation, with a big bag being able to be picked up for around £30,” Joshua explained.
4. Keep your internal doors closed
“Household members often gather in one room in the evening, and this is usually either the kitchen or living room,” Joshua said.
“This means you only have to heat a small area of your home, and closing the doors keeps the heat in and the cold out.”
5. Block drafts
Don’t forget to check cat flaps, chimneys and letterboxes, as they can let in cold air if they aren’t secure.
You can also use a hoover with a nozzle attachment to carry out this step.
Make sure to also remove any dirt or cobwebs on the wall as well as the radiator.
Next, mix your washing up liquid or white vinegar into your warm water.
Make sure your water is warm and not boiling as this can damage your radiator.
Dip a sponge into the water and wipe it across your radiator, paying attention to grimy areas.
Once you have finished, give your radiator a wipe down with fresh water and a new sponge.
Use a towel to dry your radiator, ensuring it is completely dry before switching it back on.
If you have any further issues, try bleeding your radiator or calling a plumber.
